Icy silence between Dems, GOP amid Trump
impeachment trial

Original Article

It’s a Capitol Hill cold war. A chilly silence has enveloped the Capitol — with senators on either side of the political aisle telling The Post there has been very little communication between Democrats and Republicans behind closed doors during President Trump’s impeachment trial. Delaware Sen. Chris Coons, a Democrat, lamented that the parties appeared entrenched in their two camps and said there had been “strikingly little” late-night texts or phone calls to debate calling additional witnesses or introducing new documents as evidence. “I understand that on the floor we’ve got, you know, TV cameras and the attention of our wonderful press corps, but my colleagues know how to reach out,”

Comments:

Leftists are waiting for the Pubbies to "cross the aisle" and are frustrated that they are standing fast with the President. But the aisle crosses both ways, and the leftists apparently have their shoes nailed to the floor as well.

There will be at least 1 or 2 of dem voting with GOP. This will end as in the House. Partisan vote to impeach. Bi-partisan not to.

"Coons notably worked with now-retired GOP Sen. Jeff Flake" Well yeah, dems are looking for a Republican, like Flake, they can exploit and Republicans seem to have FINALLY realized that the dems think of them as useful idiots. Case in point, "moderate Republican Mitt Romney had been engaged in repeated discussions with Senate Democratic leadership". Rummey shot the story down but it is exactly what you might expect of him and that is not a good thing. Dems cannot win this trial. If any dem Senator thinks they can, they are too stupid to live. What they are looking to win is the PR battle and points for the election. That's unlikely as well unless they can peel off a Colins or Rummey or Murkowski to mouth off against the President. With the disgusting, false assault the dems are making there is NO reason to talk with them and every reason NOT to. They have declared themselves the enemy, not colleagues. They are dangerous to our republic and the Republican party. The Republican Senators seem to know that.

If democrats find the Senate chilly, it is their own big stupid mouths that put them there. They are not in charge for the coffin nailing (in their minds) so it will never be their definition of 'fair' unless he is impeached. The democrats have set so many historical BAD precedents this is the least of their problems.

#7- Agree that Lindsay Graham is an uncertain personality; however, having watched about 20-30 minutes of Adam Schiff speaking, have to agree with Senator Graham that Adam Schiff is an excellent orator. If people are not fully aware of true facts and the dishonesty of Democrats, people could easily be deceived and believe the shameful, unscrupulous “facts” that Adam Schiff was spewing.

Perhaps it’s a good omen when democrats are so embarrassed about how foolish and dishonest they appear that even they are ashamed to speak to relatively honest people.

'Show up to court with a toothbrush': ICE says

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is prepared to go to court with two "sanctuary cities," Denver, Colorado, and New York City, if they fail to provide personal information on illegal immigrants with criminal records released in each city instead of being transferred to ICE. “We expect them to comply" with subpoenas for the information, said acting ICE Director Matt Albence at a press conference in Washington on Thursday. "If they don’t comply, we’ll be working with DOJ to go to district court to force them to comply with the requirements,” Albence said, noting the rule in the U.S. Code that he said justified the move.

I don't know about you, but I'm a little tired of Rep. Adam Schiff and the Democratic horde's portraying every charge against President Donald Trump as Trump's effort to interfere with this or that election. In his opening statement at the Senate impeachment trial, Lead House Impeachment Manager Schiff, puffed up with false indignation, did it again. President Trump made an "attempt to use the powers of the presidency to cheat in an election," said Schiff, and he must be impeached. He's claiming that the 2020 election, which won't happen until November, will be illegitimate because of Trump's dastardly telephone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

President Trump’s approval rating climbed three points this week since Democrats began bloviating on Wednesday in their sham impeachment trial. On Wednesday President Trump’s approval rating was at 46%. That was the day Democrats started their opening arguments against President Trump. On Friday President Trump’s approval rating was at 49%. Since Democrats started talking and lying, opening to the American public, President Trump’s approval numbers climbed three points. Trump’s approval rating is higher than Barack Obama’s rating at the same time in his presidency. And this is despite the continual media attacks against President Trump.

CLAIM: President Donald Trump engaged in a “cover up” because of the way the administration handled the transcript of the Ukraine call. VERDICT: FALSE. Trump declassified and released the transcript. [Tweet] House impeachment manager Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) accused President Donald Trump of a “cover up” on Friday because of the way the administration handled the transcript of his July 25 telephone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Jeffries sketched a vague conspiracy theory, in which he suggested that unnamed senior White House officials had tried to hide the transcript of the Ukraine call on a secure sever for nefarious political reasons.

The strategy the House impeachment managers are employing as they "make their case," has become apparent, and if not countered, Republicans may win the battle but lose the war. The Laurel & Hardy of the House (Adam Schiff and Jerrold Nadler, assuming that the original comedy duo were hopelessly corrupt and wholly untethered to honesty) tell us of the existence of "overwhelming evidence" for crimes like bribery, extortion, and various solicitations of felonious behavior (and more!), proceeding to characterize the ordinary conduct of the president's constitutional prerogatives as proof of their allegations.

And then there was no one. Sane, that is. In the Democratic Party. (Or awake, if they were trying to watch the Democrat impeachment managers in their monotonous assault on President Trump.) Having just conducted a sham trial in the House, Democrats pre-emptively accused Senate Republicans of plotting a "sham" trial. After refusing to let the president's lawyers testify or even be given the courtesy of a recap of the day's testimony, they demanded the power to select witnesses in the Senate. After hiding selected testimony and facts, they now, pre-emptively, accuse their Senate colleagues of doing the same.
