The spectacle Thursday of the Senate swearing in Chief Justice John Roberts, and the Senators fraudulently swearing that they would deliver impartial justice, brought home the fact that the impeachment of President Donald Trump is very real.
The House of Representatives disgraced itself with a process that broke with precedent and basic principles of fairness. It impeached the president for legal conduct, on grounds that sow the seeds of future political chaos, if granted legitimacy.
Democrats are proposing not only to reverse the will of the voters in November 2016 — an election whose outcome they have never accepted — but also to “interfere” in the November 2020 election,

Sadly, infuriatingly, they cannot be trusted
Do not lose sight of the fact that Pelosi is in line, as Speaker, to be President HERSELF if her scheme works. She undoubtedly has the Pence plan in her hip pocket ready to go.
These are treacherous times for our republic.
Always remember: Lindsey Graham voted for Evan McMullen for President. Fact.

I think McConnell will surprise all of us. He knows it would be disaster for his legacy and for any of those four never-trumpers who act like they want Witnesses. There is no reason to cave to the Democrats and allow that to happen and make this into a Three Ring Circus. Hear the Democrat Managers, Hear the Republican Rebuttal and vote to dismiss. That's what this Sham of an Impeachment deserves. No more! Even the Rogue Republicans know they will be voted out of they vote to Impeach and every one of them loves their Seat more than they feel they have to "Vote their Conscience"!

How this plays out will determine whether or not the United States has become a 'Banana Republic' or not. The will of the people must prevail under the Constitution which Americans have lived under for more than 200 years.

OOOH! OOOH! Mike Pence should announce that should Pres. Trump be removed that he would IMMEDIATELY name Sarah Palin as HIS Vice President. Heads would explode! (There is certainly no reason that Nancy Pelosi would EVER become President! And they might rethink their little plan!!)

If by some underhanded trick the Deep State removed President Trump, Richmond would not be the only Capital overrun with Patriots.

Impartial justice will exonerate the President regardless of the members' bias.

I was laughing to myself when they were signing the pledge that they would be impartial. Who do they think they are kidding?

Call me an optimist- but I think Mitch is planning to drag this out long enough for Biden to build a lead in the democratic voter base( while Bernie , the only other choice for the left, is sidelined with jury duty). Then we will see that President Trump doesn't need " Putin's help" to help to kick Biden/Obama to the curb he deserves. I, for one, can't WAIT to see those debates.

#1, please read #4. By law, Pence would appoint a new VP and Pelosi would still be 3rd in line. Then, if Pence were removed from office, his new VP would become president and that person would appoint a new VP. The only scenario in which the speaker would become president is if both the current president and VP were both killed at the same time. Which is why the two don’t travel on the same plane. But I would not doubt that the left would try to take out both of them if they could get away with it.

If the GOP caves and they have a long, pathetic history of caving, what are our legal choices, replace them with new GOP, a new third party or go democrat? If they fail us completely there is that other, slightly more violent option.

Thank you #9!
I’ve not heard this discussed. It’s encouraging indeed considering this House is all about dirty tricks.

This is not a Dem vs GOP game...it is a UNIPARTY production. It's intent is to drive down PDT's approval poll numbers to at least open the doors to a primary challenger to pull a Pat Buchanan at the convention this summer. Then comes a third-party "moderate conservative Republican" candidate to try to split the vote to toss a few close states to the Dems. The UNIPARTY can happily deal with Bernie, Warren or any of its other members in the White House while the profiteering goes on...better yet, Hillary and Bill!

An immediate dismissal is all this shameful garbage deserves, but whether or not that is a prudent course to take from a political standpoint is problematic. In that event the Dems and MSM would spend the next nine months screaming "Justice Thwarted!" and "Coverup!" and thereby create in the public mind a new conventional wisdom. We have no choice but to trust McConnell's judgement, and I am willing to bet that he and PDT are on the same page.

The Democrat impeachment should be treated in the Senate with the contempt it deserves.

Hopefully, #4 is correct, and they all sit and listen, then vote to dismiss.
Obstruction of Congress is mute, since the Supreme Court is taking up this matter, and since the Democrats didn't follow the legal process and wait for the adjudication of the legality of their subpoenas, they truly only have Abuse of Power, and that's not a crime.
Heck, Nancy Pelosi is Abusing her Power with endless investigations into everything this administration is doing, setting a very dangerous precedent for when a Republican House is able to investigate all of what this House has done in the last year, and future presidents.

I know McConnell has disappointed us many times in the past, but I think he is trying to do the right thing without allowing the screaming commies get their fake talking points in. It's a balancing act. But if anyone can pull it off, he can. He has been around long enough to work it just right.

John Roberts as Chief Justice presiding over the trial is what makes me particularly nervous. I don't trust him and think he could pull some kind of totally unexpected surprise when it is the least expected or helpful.

How about a lie detector test right after signing the not biased oath???
Would any pass?
Then change the order of procedures
1. Prosecution statements
2. Defense statements.
3. Defense witnesses.
4. Vote.
5 .Adjourn.
McConnell then say he learned from Harry Reid and then the House managers
6. Orange jumpsuit fittings.
7. Prosecute all the lying senators who failed the lie detector test.

Absolutely the case.
Absolute minimum should be done - Schifferbrains' claims, then rebuttal, and vote for innocence.
They should hear the House "managers" make their sad, stupid, unconsitutional claims, let the Trump people make their rebuttals (which should just slaughter the sad, pathetic "charges") and then the Senate should vote "Innocent", and end this political scam.
Nothing more.
