President Trump signed the “Phase One” trade agreement with China today at the White House. The agreement is far-ranging; you can read its entire text here. Among other things, it includes “commitments from Beijing to purchase $200 billion of U.S. products over the next two years, halt intellectual property theft and refrain from currency manipulation.” In return, the U.S. has reduced or eliminated some tariffs on Chinese-manufactured goods, but other duties on $375 billion in Chinese goods will remain in place for now, as an incentive for China to proceed with Phase Two.
Reaction was predictably partisan. On CNBC, Steve Bannon said that President Trump “broke the Chinese Communist Party,”

Negative note, the Chinese language is not as precise as English, and Gordon Chang think it will allow China to cheat, like always.

Electing Trump was worth it for the two trade deals alone.
Trump has upended "conventional" thinking by applying logic and thinking outside the box. The results have been spectacular and largely unreported.
It seems to me that the worst thing and advisor could ever tell Trump is why certain things cant be done.

Gordon Chang is a very knowledgeable but also very skeptical regarding the Chinese. I get it. However, This deal is a big step in the right direction. At the least, there is some agreement on some pretty big issues. The President is no fool and knows the stakes, but is willing to do the hard work necessary to achieve a goal. He will not hesitate to follow through if the Chinese go rogue and they know it. He has one goal in mind and that is to put America first not at everyone’s expense but to make things as fair as they can be for all involved. That is why he has been so successful in these negotiations. He wants everyone to benefit. The smart ones understand this and that is why they are willing to make these deals.

Like signing a Landmark Deal with the USSR in 1980.
China will not exist as a unified power in 10 years. They are going to fragment.
Xi has already gotten his daughter out of the country.

"hysterical opposition from the Democrats, who implicitly, at a minimum, have encouraged the Chinese not to make a deal, but rather to hold out in hopes of getting to negotiate with a Democrat in 2021"
Meaning the dems have been fighting against the best interests of the country, against the lawful government of the country, for the sole purpose of political gain. Dems are traitors to this country.
Once Trump wins in a landslide, there is little likelihood that China will want to face a protracted trade war. They can afford to wait 10 months but not 5 years. It will probably get ugly because China has been basing its economy on criminal behaviors, like stealing intellectual property. Giving that up will be painful for them. The pressure to do so must be equally painful.

China is ripe for "rearrangement ". Southern China, Hong Kong and Taiwan will form one Republic. Northern China around Beijing and Shanghai the other. The Central Asian provinces the way of the Soviet Asian Republics. Trump knows this. He is a realist.

FTA, "Finally, the Democrats have tried to demonize Trump’s “America First” slogan, but nearly all voters understand that putting America first is basically the president’s job description." That is a money quote from Mr. Hinderaker.

Near the end of Hinderaker's piece is the following:
"In other words, Trump is confident that he will be re-elected, and the Chinese should forget their hopes for a Sanders/Biden/Warren ascendancy. "
Indeed, this would be the only reason the Chinese stayed at the table to sign the Phase 1 agreement.

And by the way, Mr. President, a very fine job by you and your team. Sec. Mnuchin especially.

For those to expect China to break up, please remember that China has one of the largest military's in the world and has no problems with using it against its own people.

China may have a large military, but the Chinese have survived against their government over the centuries by ''bending with the wind.'' When the Chinese military leaders and soldiers realize that the change is going to happen, they will turn on the old leadership. There will be plenty of bloodshed until that happens, but it will happen.

The incongruity of the split screen yesterday with President Trump in the White House with his team with the Chinese reps on one side and the feckless, miserable, hateful, preening Dems on the other, was very telling as to what and how really effective leaders do their jobs.

Thank you President Donald Trump for this great victory against Communist China. I am very happy with the Senate passing USMCA treaty before the Democrat Pantomime begins. He also made trade deals with Japan and South Korea, Dow Jones at 29,200. But for me the Paris Climate Agreement was more than sufficient for my re-election vote. This President is Superman. Impeach that. Donaldjtrump.com

Democrats proved once again they have absolutely NO INTEREST in what is good for this country. By trying to upstage Trump's triumph with the Chinese government with their comical and morose walking the impeachment docs to the Senate (where as I understand it they were turned away and told to come back tomorrow ...now today) they illustrated even to their own followers, their contempt for this country and its citizens. These people, the "prayerful Catholic" Pelosi in particular are loathsome bottom feeders who are more supportive of the Communist Chinese and the terrorist Iranians than they are of Americans. They must be CRUSHED, not just defeated, but resoundingly CRUSHED in November's elections.

For those talking about China's military, do you remember that all day long parade for their 70th Communist Anniversary?? Now that is one huge military.
