America is the midst of an imaginary impeachment standoff between House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. "Both have drawn firm lines in the sand. Someone's got to give,”(Snip)
There is, of course, nothing to "give." Pelosi has no standing to dictate the terms of a Senate trial; no constitutional right or political leverage. Why she has put herself in a position that will ultimately end, one way or another, with her surrendering to McConnell is perplexing.
(Snip) Time magazine does shed some light on the thought process behind Pelosi's decision to refuse to hand over articles of impeachment to a Senate whose majority doesn't want them.

John Dean is a sniveling little worm whose only accomplishment has been to capitalize on his Watergate association for the past 45 years. Anyone who would take advice from him is delusional.

Still the most reasonable supposition I have come across is that she wants to throw a monkey wrench into the Dem primaries. If she'd sent articles the day they were voted on this whole thing would be done by now. Either that or she's just stupid. That could be too.

Pelosi was simply an witting accomplice to a much larger crime. All the Democrats knew that impeachment was not going to work as long as the Senate was controlled by Republicans. So why did they go ahead anyway? The objective was determined by the Obama holdovers in the State Department and Democrat party leaders who are loyal to Obama and Joe Biden. When Zelensky was elected Ukrainian President and replaced Poroshenko who was deeply involved in the Democrat crimes in Ukraine the Democrats lost their protection just as with Hillary's loss to Trump. When Trump and Zelensky began to discuss a real investigation into what the State Department and the Biden's had pulled off on the July 25 phone call alarm bells were set off.
Ciaramella was deeply involved and conspired with the IC IG to change the whistle blower rules to allow for hearsay evidence in the complaint. They then conspired with Schiff to trigger the impeachment inquiry based on the complaint. The objective all along has been to prevent any real investigation of the Bidens and the State Department in Ukraine long before the 2020 election. This has never been about impeaching the President, it is an attempt to obstruct justice and prevent an investigation into the Obama administration corruption. So far it is working very well and Pelosi's destruction is just collateral damage.

Pelosi is beyond delusional. Her pure hatred for Trump is not to help her or her party. My wishes are for the democrats to self destruct in the nex election.

They really are all insane. They have absolutely NOTHING. Nutty, Nasty, Nan will go down in history as an unhinged lunatic, completely out of control and flailing impotently while President Trump does the people's business.
And Jennifer Rubin is one of the most insane of the whole bunch, afflicted with near terminal TDS, like at least 6 or 8 other severely deranged formerly conservative commentators such as George Will, Jonah G, Billy Krystal, Max Boot and many others. Ms. Rubin seems to have gone particularly bonkers, on par with Boot and Will.

More pundrity that misses the primary point of the past three years of "Dump Trump". I suspect it is an intentional oversight. Mr. Harsanyi writes, "Pelosi has no standing to dictate the terms of a Senate trial; no constitutional right or political leverage. Why she has put herself in a position that will ultimately end, one way or another, with her surrendering to McConnell is perplexing." Really...?
Pelosi has no need to surrender to anyone. This "trial" business will be locked up in "partisan stalemate" until November, with both sides droning on about it, blaming the other, waving their particular bloody shirts at all levels throughout the campaign. (And consider the arrival of a UNIPARTY Deep State-supported third party entry, a moderate Republican, a squish like a few western senators that come to mind. This will draw much media hype and regular attention, including fake polls. The idea is to draw off votes from PDT in closely-contested key states.)
The trial issue is ultimately profitable to all concerned. Pelosi backs of the radical Dems who got their impeachment, Mitch "stands tall" for the MAGA/KAG crowd but unable to legitimately move forward with no charges preferred, while PDT keeps on about the whole tale that is largely untold.
This is a UNIPARTY production, not DEM vs GOPe. Everyone is already in for a dime...why not a dollar? To this point an election defeat is their best chance to be rid of that damn millionaire who is exposing the bi-partisan profiteering game that is American politics and its major players at the national/international level. We're talking trillions here...and focusing on all the shiny objects.

The problem with a 60-minute intermission between acts is that most people would leave the theater. Impeachment? How yesterday.

"if the House had made a persuasive case, there would be public pressure on Republicans to act in a different manner"
The problem is, there is NO persuasive case to be made because there is no evidence and never has been. After 4 years of beating the bushes, no unicorns have yet to be found. Rubin, the nutty NeverTrumper, threatens with the "real possibility that conclusive evidence of Trump's wrongdoing will come to light". That possibility is approaching the same likelihood as the sun rising in the West. Again, non stop investigations find NOTHING. The best dem witlesses are only able to testify that Trump did nothing wrong besides disagreeing with their recommendations.
The dems and NeverTrumpers are demanding we impeach Trump because evidence WILL be found at some future date that will justify it. Folks, that is INSANE. By that standard, anyone could be found guilty of anything because it MIGHT be true, someday. It is even crazier with Trump because he has already been put under an electron microscope and nothing has been found.
Nasty Pelousy got arm twisted into impeachment but once in the tent she went really nuts.

My opinion, for what its worth and $7.99 will get you a Starbucks Grande Latte is this...….
Pelosi knows that the hearings were botched. She knows that there is no real impeachable offense. And she knows that this isn't about "interfering" with the 2020 election, but Biden's Quid Pro Quo with the Ukraine. And she knows that there isn't a snowballs chance in Miami that Trump will be convicted. What she hopes to do is raise enough doubt in A; the fairness of the Senate trial and B; that an acquittal is nothing more than a republican coverup. She and others are out there saying exactly that. She hopes that when the acquittal is handed down, the low-fo voters will be incensed and turn out in 2020. Should Trump win re-election, his will be considered an illegitimate president who only won with foreign interference.
If they keep the house, and or gain the senate in 2020, we will be treated to 5 more years of non-stop hysteria and investigations.

She is not thinking about Trump at all. She is thinking about Bernie Sanders. By delaying the Senate trial, she has prevented Sanders from actice campaigning right before the first primaries. Instead, he will be tied to his Senate desk.

Try? What is try? Either do or do not do. (Yoda)
Either impeach or do not impeach. No hanging chads.
The Honorable Representative from Scat City needs to s*** or get off the pot.
She has her two Articles of Impeachment, duly enacted by the House.
The rest is up to the Senate, and it is theirs exclusively to proceed (or not).
The argument of urgency (why the House hearings had to be held in December) has now been disproved by the hold of Pelosi. Apparently DJT is not such a threat that he must be immediately removed. Or something.
Oh, well. CA has banned controlled burn of its forests, so they can have only uncontrolled burns. CA has banned using more than 50 gallons of water per day, so don't flush that toilet or bathe. And CA is set on banning the killing of animals, so forget about eating meat. Ever.
A friend of mine was asked about how CA was populated. He explained that the Continent was lifted up, tilted to the West, and shaken. Everything loose fell into the West Coast.
Turns out he was right.

Remember when Piglousi was touting CommieCare as the ability for citizens to feel free to do whatever they want? Well, she got it. The public is now free to defecate and urinate on the street, shoot up and drop the needle wherever they want to and sleep on the street while collecting welfare. You'd think actual voters would get rid of her once and for all but I can only conclude they like the public toilet environment. Cuomo is following her example by letting criminals run free to prey on more citizens with his prized no bail law. NY should get rid of him too.

San Franciscans, you must be so proud of your gal Nancy! She was too busy impeaching a president and ignored the plight of your wretched city as it drowns in human waist, discarded hype kits, illegal aliens, and off the chart property crimes. I guess there's a lot of truth to the saying, "Stupid is as stupid does!"

In the aftermath of the Democrats first Civil War, they were crushed for 50 years. They clearly did not learn their lesson. The Democrat Party is presenting another once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to crush them for several decades. Let's not let their RINO enablers help them to avoid the consequences of their evil.
