When the news broke about the death of Qassem Soleimani in an American airstrike, it was inevitable that the Democrats and the media would denounce the action and once again declare President Trump unfit for office. More surprising was the opprobrium heaped on the raid and its underlying rationale by Tucker Carlson. The Fox News host is usually fairly sensible, if given to the hyperbole and simulated indignation required by the talking head genre. Moreover, he tends to be supportive of the President and his policies. Carlson’s response to the Soleimani killing, however, was uninformed, uncharacteristically hostile to Trump, and generally unhinged.

I think I was cheering when I listened to Tucker Carlson’s monologue. Why in the world are we worrying about that stew pot? Weren’t the 9/11 bombers all from Saudi Arabia, not Afghanistan/Iraq//Syria? Is being there good for the United States? Cui bono?

I can argue with several of Tucker's points... One being his rant about why not China or Mexico? What a moron! Just too stupid to waste time on.

As per the author, I much prefer we fight them on their own front yard rather than on ours. Can you imagine the destruction of our towns and cities if we chose not to fight until they come here? 9-11 is exactly exhibit A!

Carlson was questioning our government’s devotion in blood and treasure to the Middle East. He noted that American cities are rotting, our borders are not protected and Americans are dying by the tens of thousands at the hands of alien drug cartels which have established themselves in almost every state. Meanwhile, we are spending trillions of dollars in places like Iraq and Afghanistan, securing their borders, building infrastructure in their cities and trying to protect their people from foreign gangsters. And we are still doing this 20 years after 9/11 with no signs of abatement. These discrepancies deserve explanations. And I mean no disrespect to our President. He inherited a mess.

While I support the drone strikes, Tucker has been consistent in questioning the need for endless wars in the Middle East. His points are worth consideration.

Tucker has had a pretty good following. If he continues down this path, he might just find himself replaced with someone who will appeal to conservative viewers. Nobody is Bulletproof, just ask Shepherd Smith!

Carlson was an idiot for this rant, and he ignores that the Iranian populace is very happy that this evil is gone. Carlson needs to step back and just take a deep breath, and think about all the American military who got killed because of that evil general. Rumor has it he was even in cahoots with a cartel to carry out some action on US soil. I am not just happy the terrorist is dead, I am thrilled.

This "rant" is part of Tucker's common theme of, "Why is the USA in never ending wars in the Middle East?"
On the general part of that I can agree, but not on the issue of targeted assassination of a zealot terrorist and knocking Iran down to size in the process. For me that was a twofer, perhaps threefer if he was truly planning big death campaigns against Americans.
Lighten up Tucker, and go search for more "truth" about UFOs.

Ummmm . . . Did Tucker conveniently forget why we took out Soleimani? Of course there are problems here, but that doesn't mean we ignore threats to Americans in other countries. Or perhaps Tucker is all for a completely isolated country that has no ambassadors anywhere???
P.S. I don't listen to fools!

Television is tolerable for cartoons and sports, barely. Idiot box "news" is worthless; the first reports are usually way off target and besides, they eventually get their poop where and long after we get it so why bother.
Kill your television. You'll be smarter.

The reaction to this indicates that too many are paying too much attention to Carlson. As they do to others. He gets the same information we do. Maybe less if he doesn’t read conservative websites. There is nothing special about his analytical powers. They are no better than ours. He is no pundit. None of these radio and television “hosts" is a pundit. They are popular if their opinions agree with ours. They fade or even sink from popularity when their opinions differ.
Sometimes interesting to watch, but certainly not the last word on anything. Influential? Should not be.

I am not a psychiatrist, therapist or mental health professional, but I have had to associate with a lot of individuals who were prescribed doses of Prosac and the myriad of related drugs. A lot of them would act as Tucker is acting. When off the meds they would become faux outraged and lash out with hyperbole or to simply virtue signal in an effort to inform us all of the danger/insanity etc of what their minds perceived at that particular moment. Even if their vomiting of hyperbole contradicted many earlier statements they had made about the same or similar subject. I'm sure we have all seen this on facebook posts and so on. Glenn Beck is a good example of this phenomena.
I have learned to accept it for what it is. I now rarely wait with anticipation for anything pundits claim.

Re#6 - Defense of this country and our national interests is a Constitutional responsibility of the President/Commander-in-Chief. Taking care of the homeless, addicts, etc is not in the Constitution. If Dem controlled cities and states are unable or unwilling to take care of their residents then too bad. Securing our borders? Well, if the Courts would stop interfering and if Congress would actually legislate then maybe the border would be secured regardless of who was President.

Soleimani had just orchestrated an attack on our embassy in Baghdad, same as an attack on sovereign US soil. Hey Tucker - are we not supposed to defend ourselves? I couldn't believe some of the nonsense he was spewing.

Carlson is a word coward. He hides behind half truths and that is the difference between Trump and him. One outright lie (of many) Carlson told was the inference that taking out Soleimani was like taking out our Sec of State or some nonsense. That belies the very basis of Soleimani's job. He was a "General" in the "Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corp". (IRGC) His job in the IRGC was the leader of the Quds force. The IRGC itself is a farcical name only for trying to legitimize a Gestapo, a Stasi, a secret police that from the outset is not a legitimate "military" organization. It is built to be an arms length from the government for plausible deniability. The Quds Force is very much like the Gestapo was in the German WW2 military. The United States government rightfully declared the IRGC a terrorist organization. Soleimani was actually personally listed as a terrorist in 2011 by Obama. Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Rex Tillerson and Mike Pompeo are not known for being in charge of creating programs where the best explosives for killing people can dispersed to equally devious peoples. This is just one example of the complexities the cowardly Carlson arrogantly glosses over on his way to his arrogant proclamation. Perhaps if he had the stones to be there and see the end result of Soleimani's "work" he would understand what he was glossing over. There's more to this, but I don't have time AND I am not about to waste my time on folks who don't want to listen.

FTA: "The chairman of our Joint Chiefs of Staff, Army Gen. Mark A. Milley, hasn’t presided over a protracted reign of terror from which no one in the Middle East was safe. Nor is his boss trying to start a war."
So? That's not Carlson's point. If one is on the other side, one can easily "justify" such an assassination for decades of occupation and oppression by the US and its military leaders. Dredge up Abu Ghraib and whatever highlights of past decades one prefers. Now this. The Great Satan...says it all from their standpoint.

I'm a Tucker fan and enjoy his fearless comments on issues. But on this show, he was not fearless. He sounded like Pelosi who didn't read the Ukraine call transcript before making her ridiculous public statement.
Hey, Tucker, President Trump's number one concern is protecting American lives here and abroad, not the life of a thug Terrorist who is responsible for the death of many of our soldiers. Also, Trump had intelligence that there was an imminent threat. Also, he's been known to be meticulous and careful before making decisions as Commander in Chief. So who should we believe, Fake News, the lynch mob radicals on the Left, or a very astute President Trump.
Sound to me that Tucker snookered by the left.

The usually bright Tucker Carlson missed it on this one. The day following the attempted attack on the embassy in Iraq there were many images and video of Soleimani organizing and direct the attack he was 'Jonny on the spot'. President Trump took action when he had the chance and eliminated the threat and stopped another Benghazi on his watch. Iran has been rattling their swords against the United States and Israel since the Jimmy Carter era. The old slogan death to America President Trump took very serious and acted. I don't believe President Trump will start a war on the ground in the middle east but he will surely put and end to one if Iran decides to move in that direction. Tucker mentioned Mexico well if Mexico acts like Iran maybe the President will deal with that the same after all he is a man of action and other nations should all know that.
Keep an eye on Tucker Carlson he just might be going off the rails like Bill Kristol did.

Generally I like Tucker, frequently agreeing with him. This one is just bizarre. Cleaning out this murderer from the Middle East is a genuine benefit to everyone, only a problem for his tyrannical, murderous, hideous jihadi bosses who will need to find another literal murderous henchman.
How can Tucker come down on the side of murderous tyranny and vicious jihadi terrorism? It does not make sense, and his arguments are totally hollow.

#17's second theory may be the best explanation. Perhaps a Paul Ryan effect. It is easy to forget that Ryan is in charge at Fox these days, and perhaps Tucker was given a "do or die" (job-wise) assignment from NeverTrumper Ryan.

Carlson, usually a source for intelligent insight and commentary, was an idiot in this commentary.
His "end all foreign wars" emotions got the best of him.
So, after Trump exercised restraint when two oil tankers in the Gulf were damaged by Iranian explosives, when the Saudi refinery was attacked by Iranian drones, and especially when a US drone was shot down un international airspace by Iran, he clearly warned them about crossing the red line and ending an American life.
Yet, under Soleimani's leadership, Iran attacks five US installations in Iraq and Syria, and then stirs up a protest where Iranian Red Guards attempt to storm the US Embassy in Baghdad--US SOIL!!--and take hostages like in Tehran 1979, but were beaten off by US reinforcements.
And as a result of all this, one American is dead and four are wounded.
In the face of this, Soleimani flies into Baghdad Airport--the theatre of war--to meet with his generals and plot their next move.
And Trump orders up a drone strike, decimating the Iranians at Baghdad Airport.
How was this not justified? Iran was warned about repercussions for loss of American lives. Yet they attacked Americans on American soil and killed one.
And then Soleimani came into Iraq to further press their offensive.
Trump would have been justified to send cruise missiles into Tehran. The mullahs are lucky that he showed restraint.

I used to watch Tucker religiously, but months ago, when it seemed like the hillary apologist, Richard, was on more and more frequently, always bashing PDT, I began watching it less. I will DVR the show, so I can enjoy the great Mark Steyn, without all the side shows.

This just goes to show that you can't blindly accept ANYBODY'S opinion as word of God, no matter how much you may like or respect them. Even Tucker Carlson, Donald Trump, or the pope. Actually I don't value the word of the current pope very much - John Paul 2 would be a better example.
