A columnist writing at AZCentral.com suggests it was “terrifying” that parishioners were armed at the church in White Settlement, Texas. On December 29, Breitbart News reported that a gunman at West Freeway Church of Christ opened fire, only to be shot dead by an armed parishioner. Jack Wilson, the good guy with a gun, was one of many parishioners who drew their guns to fight back when the heinous attack began. On December 31, Elivia Diaz, editorial columnist for the Republic and AZcentral.com reacted to the quick takedown of the gunman by claiming that Wilson’s defensive gun use “has turned into a PR tool by gun advocates.”

The "columnist" shouldn't set foot onto any Texas public university/college then, since it's legal for students and faculty to have firearms even in classrooms.

In this country everyone has a right to be as stupid as they want to be but I think this woman is abusing the privilege.

And if no one took down the shooter, and he had killed another dozen people, she would be calling for a ban on "assault shotguns." Never mind that the sawed-off shorty was illegal, and it is illegal to murder people, she would use this as a PR tool by gun opponents and say we need more laws against weapons like this "assault shotgun."

It is a lot more terrifying to realize that you're unarmed and someone with murder in his heart is pointing a sawed-off shotgun at you.

My guess is that this snowflake was more "triggered" by the name of the town being White Settlement. There ought to be a law - how un-diverse!

May the columnist find itself walking unknowingly into danger, unarmed, and curse the day he/she/ze wrote this article. It's the only way these clowns will ever learn.

I am convinced that the "columnist " is actually most terrified that all the Christians weren't killed in a giant massacre. The hate for Christians and Jews from the left should not be denied.

So, no guns on citizens because they say it can stop mass shootings? Does she use uncontested mass as PR for gun control? I bet she does. She’s a close-minded, IMO.

How easy it seems to be to complain about the existence of brave patriots with firearms when you are sitting comfortably in your home and not facing the loaded barrel of a madman’s shotgun.

Leftists don't appear to care how many people are killed as long as it fits their anti-gun agenda.

I realize that Elivia Diaz cannot identify with the concept of being a fish in a barrel at a church service.
Perhaps if she could imagine herself being a fish in a barrel at a movie theater, that would help her identify.

I know several people, some members of my church, who could have made that same shot. They have no special qualifications, as the author suggests the immediate responder has, other than that they are willing to step up, they do the shooting practice, and carry most of the time.

Like the actor Michael Douglas admitted, there are a lot of liberal/progressives who barely have control over their emotions. They don't trust themselves with a weapon so they project that instability on everyone else. It is the supreme ego trip and pampered fools like Elivia Diaz are a prime example. God help us when egomaniacs get power because the first thing they do is to try and control everyone according to their sick world view.

Elivia Diaz, you should do more biblical research. First Century Christians often had to defend themselves physically and were armed for the purpose. (Armed against the Jesus haters. Wonder what has changed?)

Nothing seems to get the message through to liberals to shut up and mind their own business.
Try terror, if that fails, escalate.

What’s really alarmingly terrifying is that this columnist finds it terrifying that prisoners were armed. I suppose the columnist prefers gun free zones where only infant shooters are armed and able to fire at will. The true insanity of the left is terrifying indeed.

If you are ‘terrified’ by the idea of a law abiding gun owner being able to defend themselves and a a roomful of people no matter who they are are from an armed assault then Madam you need help.

I can assure readers here that no member of any church of Christ is ever referred to as a parishioner. They might be referred to as a member, or an attendee, but never a parishioner.

Olivia would probably be shocked to find out how many concealed firearms are in church on any given Sunday. That's the whole idea of concealed carry, to carry with no one the wiser. And EDC is a way of life for a lot of people.

What's so terrifying about it? If that columnist at AZCentral.com thinks it's better to be shot in a church, maybe he should spend every day in a Jewish church and get his just reward of being shot dead.

From reading Elivia’s article, she seems to think that only well-trained and experienced personnel should be qualified to carry a gun and protect others. That would be like being an elitist who believes only Michelin star chefs should be preparing food for consumption. Would bet the house she’s never held a real weapon or been to a range.

I guess the editorial columnist Diaz would have preferred everyone be unarmed so more of the religious zealots could have died by the hands of the murderer. From where the killer was positioned and the shotgun his choice of weapon, not an evil AR or AK, his killing zone would have been only immediately around him but the carnage would still have been great.
I guess this clueless bozo writer just fears the handgun that the parishioners were carrying more than saving lives. Diaz would rather see mass deaths than a person doing something good to save people. It's cowards like this columnist that I would not want to go into a battle with.
