Greta Thunberg's father today revealed he feared depression would kill her before she launched her 'climate crisis' campaign as the teenager used control of a BBC show to blast Donald Trump and insist meeting him would be a 'waste of time'. Svante Thunberg told his 16-year-old daughter it was 'a bad idea' to lead the campaign to halt global warming – but now believes it 'saved her' after she stopped eating and talking for months during a long bout of depression. Speaking on a special edition of the BBC Radio 4 Today programme guest-edited by Greta, Mr Thunberg said in a rare interview:

Hey Dad, your daughter is mentally ill. If you truly love her pull her off the world stage and get her some good mental health counseling.

Whoa. What teenage girl living the good life in Sweden becomes depressed and then suddenly, she's the world's expert on "climate change?" I mean, it must have been really really hard living in Sweden with your parents as opposed to being a teenage girl being sexually trafficked or working in some slave labor prison camp in China making some crappy item to sell back to the West or....
The whole family needs serious mental health counselling.

This at least gave the poor kid something to do beside feel sorry for herself, too bad anyone else paid any attention to her.

Greta's activism has a limited shelf life, and when it expires, her enablers will move on to the next new thing. What's going to happen to his daughter when the left is done using her?

No 4 has it right: she could have gone along, yammering about climate change all day long.
But who, in their right mind and with critical thinking faculties, would pay attention to a 16-yr old with Asperger AND mental health challenges?
Sir David??! The U.N.?!!
How blind to their idiotology. (Speaking of mental health issues...)

It is inevitable that the absurd and mentally ill Miss Thunberg will suffer a post-ecstatic depression after she is no longer the center of attention. If she carries through with her pre-world tour plans she will have been useful to the globalist crowd and we’ll have schools, parks, monuments, children’s books, TV series, movies, etc., etc., etc., foisted on us in her honor. Our elite overlords hate deplorables and one diabolical plan they have is to bore us to death.

How about the enormous price the REST OF US have had to pay for her "problem". She is demanding $trillions to make her feel safe and pushing technology solutions that CANNOT work to fix a problem that doesn't exist. Further, if we did all she asked it would make almost no difference according to the fantasy science she espouses. We are being asked to buy into her delusions to make her feel good.
It's too bad she is a little out of whack but destroying civilization is not worth it to "fix" her.

Lil Greta has been smoking way too much cannabis and drinking way too much vodka. All those things lead to depression and delusions of grandeur and psychotic visions of non-reality. Put her into a rehab clinic for 90- days and see what happens.

I agree with the posters who are concerned that after her exploitation will come a crash, possibly suicidal. And then the left will have the gall to make a martyr of the girl they set up for this fall.

Do you people remember the attention paid to young girls who were 'youngest pilot' kids?
One of them was Vicki Van Metre, Meadville, Pa, who flew with her flight instructor to various locations, setting bogus records..
And when the attention died down, Vicki died, by blowing her brains out.
It turns out that she suffered from severe depression, and pretending to be a pre-teen pilot seemed to help her depression. And Vicki's parents were, arguably, enablers.
Greta may be on the same trajectory with a different mission.

#26, I remember that pre-teen pilot story. Didn’t know that had happened to her tho.
This silly little sap of a girl is walking the same path also. Too bad. Her zealotry has the makings of a real “Hitler Youth” and I don’t use that label lightly.
Wish her parents would put her on a good medicine regimen and send her snippy little ass back to school. Doubt she’d learn anything but we’d get a break.
And by the way, what the he’ll is it with Europe? That continent can pump out some real monsters can’t it.

Dad, your daughter is still in depression, she just found an avenue to give her life some meaning. Whenever her eco-activism hits an obstacle that she builds for herself, she will plunge into the abyss and probably commit suicide. Tragic and unnecessary - get her professional help.

This qualifies as child abuse. To use a child's illness to promote a personal agenda is not an appropriate treatment for depression or any other disease. His use of his child is appalling to say the least.

This 16 year old is a minor, so dad sends her off to harass the rest of the world to make her feel better?
She should be in school and getting help. Dad should be charged with child abuse. BTW Who wrote her script? How much did her parents get paid for this escapade?
One of the posters on here described her Aspberger's perfectly after she arrived in the US to lecture US.
