Perhaps anti-Christian liberal hacks were right all along: Americans are religious zealots. A new Rasmussen Reports poll shows that an overwhelming majority of Americans prefer "Merry Christmas" over "Happy Holidays." What's more, they also think that Christmas is a perfect time to talk about Jesus Christ rather than about that guy with the red suit and long beard.
Such disgusting Christian extremists. It's sickening.
OK, that's where the sarcasm ends. Here are the facts: According to Rasmussen, 68 percent of American adults say "Christmas should be more about Jesus Chris than about Santa Claus." Only 16 percent say they emphasize Santa, another 15 percent are undecided

The real story of St. Nicholas is fascinating, and he was a man of God. Having said that, the word "Christ" mas, obviously means that it is about Jesus Christ who came to earth as a man, but is also the Son of God. Clearly, Christmas is about celebrating Him and what He did for us that no other could do. I am glad to hear that most Americans still understand this fact. I don't really think it has anything to do with President Trump, and while I prefer him over ANY democrat, I have had this opinion my entire life.

Don't get me wrong, President Trump doesn't go around covering up Christian symbols like Obama did and he acknowledges the real reason for the season. I just think EVERYBODY makes EVERYTHING about Trump or against Trump these days. Some things are just not.

I tend to disagree with previous poster about the "I just think EVERYBODY makes EVERYTHING about Trump or against Trump these days" comment. Where I disagree is with the "EVERYBODY" because I believe it is the media that has pointed everything in Trump's direction. In 2016, I think the media and Democrats were getting nervous of what they were seeing with Trump's campaign. EVERYTHING is being done to smear his name.
Enough said about that. I prefer Merry Christmas but it doesn't bother about me about Happy Holidays. I don't know if it offends God but I always think of Santa Claus as a reflection of God. I know the story of St. Nicholas and it is all bundled together for me.

Merry Christmas is certainly correct at this time of year. But I don't honestly believe that saying "Happy Holiday" is a deliberate attempt to reduce the importance of Christmas. Christmas and New Year are SO close together, that most people you won't see until after Christmas, you won't see until after New Year either. So saying "Happy Holidays" was for ages, just a practical and convenient expression. Then too, Hanukkah falls close to Christmas, so you're covered there as well. Ditto the bogus kwaanza, and of course, Festivus. And Saturnalia. Lighten up Christians. They can't take it away from us. Flame if you must, I will point the cornucopia of the Ghost of Christmas Present at you. LOL

I DO credit Trump - he is the first president in decades who didn’t succumb to the PC “Happy Holidays” which definitely IS a way to remove the real meaning of the season. The 2017 WH Christmas card was the first in several administrations which actually used the words “Merry Christmas”.
Back during his campaign he also said that the current trend of political correctness would not continue in his administration and he gave those who had been subdued by the PC mob the courage to speak up again.
So, Merry Christmas to all Ldotters, no matter your faith or lack thereof!

The left demand that we respect other people's traditions, those we do not know, yet they demonstrate no respect for ourselves or our traditions. My family, going all the way back to England, and for centuries, have said every December "Merry Christmas", and that is the way I have followed. Certainly the left may disdain my dress, manners, beliefs, yet they demand that I show respect for pants around the knees, hand wraps, beards, offensive behavior, and other obnoxities--but I am sorry, I just cannot sustain so great a burden, and choose to leave that weight to bear to the leftists.

I have always made it a point to wish people "Merry Christmas" around Christmas time. I occasionally get some politically correct disciple to explain to me that such an utterance is not proper, and then I immediately respond with "then have a sh!tty Christmas". I'm an old guy--so I get away with that.
MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of my fellow L-Dotters, Miss Lucianne, and the staff. Let us all Keep America Great in 2020 ! ! !

Yep. No "happy holidays" greetings from my family. And every year, we watch all the Christmas movie including the Charlie Brown Christmas. Merry Christmas, all.

I wish everyone a merry Christmas, sharing with them the joy of my Christian commemoration of the birth of Christ. And when a Jewish friend wishes me a happy Hanukkah, I feel honored that they would share their holiday with me. Christ's admonition was to love God and love each other. Can't we just do that? Merry Christmas.

The majority, and previous commenters, favor ' Merry Christmas' , because they are probably Christian. They do not understand that the phrase is often directed at NON-Christians who do not celebrate Christmas. I am in that category, but I am not offended because they are good folks wishing me well. I appreciate it. It has been that way my whole life. When in Rome , do as the Romans do.

I say “Merry Christmas” and if someone says “Happy Holidays” I wish them a “Merry Christmas” too…
Stamping out nonsense wherever it occurs… one perp at a time…
(Now if I could figure out a way to once and for all do away with “No problem”…)

Since the Church took over pagan winter solstice celebrations and made them a celebration of Christ’s birth, in the greatest marketing move ever, as my husband says, Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays are fine with me. But Merry Christmas just sounds merrier.

My family will always say Merry Christmas. Now, if Hallmark starts with lesbians kissing and PC themed shows, that trafition will end in my house. We're as tolerant of the PC crowd as they are of us!

The thing is, Christmas is not just for Christians. The basic outline of the holiday, "A Child is born...", "Peace on Earth", is pretty easy to like, even if you don't accept the underlying religious doctrine. Not to mention all the enjoyable rituals involving Santa, trees, gift giving, and so on. I would guess that most of the people I have known, from childhood through my working life, celebrate Christmas despite being kind of vague as to their specific religious beliefs. My wife is from China, and she and her family mostly have a Buddhist background (although some are Christian), yet all of them make a big deal about Christmas. So when you wish someone "Merry Christmas", you are by no means assuming they are Christians, let alone trying to proselytize or to make them feel different.
I know some groups, like Jehovah's Witness, are sensitive about celebrating it. In my experience, they understand that you are well intentioned and don't scold you. I think the ones who do scold are just PC indoctrinated.

Our great President in the campaign said we would say Merry Christmas again. Now that they have impeached the champion of the people I redouble my Merry Christmases just to signal the Others.

If it's not Christmas, then why should I fight the crowds at the stores? I don't celebrate "Winter Solstice". /s

The most fun ever at a Yuletide gathering was the Hanukkah celebration when my cousin (raised Christian) was married to her hubby (raised Jewish). They decorated a little ''Hanukkah bush'' to put my presents under. At 21 years old, I very much loved that season, my first ever service at Temple, and all that I learned about traditions. That my president hasn't knuckled under to political correctness means a lot to me at my current age (4 years older than Trump). Who was the guy who first said, ''Can't we all just get along?''

All I know about Christmas (feast of the Nativity) is that God kept the promise he made to Adam and Eve in the Garden.
He did it by being born as a human being Himself and living for over 33 years on Earth just like we do.
He illustrated that some people will accept the Truth and some people will never accept the truth.
I am making it a life project to accept the Truth; it's on my bucket list.
