After rushed and intense proceedings into the Ukraine affair, the House has voted to impeach President Trump. The vote was 230 to 197 for the first article of impeachment charging the president with abuse of power and 229 to 198 for the second article charging him with obstruction of Congress.
For Republicans, the important numbers were zero and zero. Not a single Republican lawmaker voted for either article of impeachment.
For the GOP, it was important to show that impeachment is an entirely partisan, Democrats-only affair, and that is precisely what happened.
In a conversation a few hours before the vote, House Republican Whip Steve Scalise

First time ever, GOP remained united. That's a good thing!

It's amazing what some planning and the TRUTH can accomplish.
Consider that the Left has been conspiring and loosely organizing since Trump declared his candidacy. This usually worked well for them. But they ran into a problem, a Republican that fought back, flying boldly into the the face of his own personal, media hurricane. He not only won that battle, he eviserated the propaganda media. One of the reasons that the media has little influence today is that Trump already broke them.
It also created, after many Trump victories, a questioning public, a fatal characteristic against the Left's narratives. Who is this guy Trump? How did he get the economy humming? Everyone I know has jobs, better wages, and lower taxes. HOW did he do that, especially when we were told that a ho hum economy was the new normal? Where did he get his magic wand? How did he beat ISIS? Maybe he is tweeting so much because the media is relentlessly negative? What's up with all these investigations of Trump? Look, another one went splat. They have been investigating him for 4 years and found NOTHING. Maybe there is nothing to find? Maybe the dems are obsessed with getting rid of Trump to the EXCLUSION of anything else? Why would we want such a party in government? Many of the people in the government that went after Trump have been fired and are under criminal investigation. The FBI seems to be willfully incompetent, maybe criminally so. Maybe there IS a deep state and Trump WAS "wiretapped"?
90% of Republicans support Trump. That's a double espresso shot to Republican members of Congress. Trump has shown them that CAN fight and win.

Thank you, Republicans. Continue to fight for this President and ultimately we the people. He is the only guy that I can remember who is willing to put it all on the line for the country and its people. This is how you grow loyalty. Learn from him, support him, and the country will thank you.

What I would like to know is how the Democrats got to almost unanimous. Let's see behind the scenes on that.

The wallflowers have bloomed with President's Trump's courtship. He's showed them they don't have to be afraid of their evil big sister Nancy anymore. The Donald, along with tens of millions of Deplorables, has their back. There is great power in the unity which the commies have always enjoyed, but its a new feeling for Republicans to be filled with such resolve. Eloquent and fearless leaders have been forged during the "impeachment" farce that will inspire others to action and the timid into gumption. We are witnessing the remaking of the Republican Party as in 1858. This time there will be no name change; except perhaps our nickname will go from GOPers to Trumpians. Its a remarkable time to be alive.
Merry MAGA Christmas!

No one seems to have read the article, where Whip Steve Scalise gets the credit for this unity. Go back and read it. Here’s a small sample:
The Republican stance didn't just happen. Scalise has been working for weeks to keep House Republicans up to speed on the rapidly changing issues and positions in the Democratic impeachment drive. It was essential to keeping GOP lawmakers together.
Remember that in the early days, most members of the House were in the dark about what was happening in the proceedings. Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff held depositions in secret, in a secure room in the Capitol, and only members of the Intelligence, Oversight, and Foreign Affairs committees were allowed to attend. Together, that is only 47 Republicans out of 197 GOP members of the House. A total of 150 Republicans had no access to anything.
That's where Scalise, the party whip, came in. Relying on a model he had used earlier for complex legislation such as tax reform, Scalise organized briefings for the majority of members who weren't in the loop. It became especially important during impeachment.

Simple. There has been no presentation of evidence of laws being broken. A crime or misdemeanor, in the usual understanding, involves the violation of some Federal, State, or local law. No law has been cited in the Bill as having been broken. There is no law forbidding the President to set foreign policy, and there is no law making the President subject to Congress. So no Republican votes for impeachment.

Thank God for Steve Scalise and his hard work! He foiled the democrats’ plan to keep the republicans in the dark about the whole thing.

It wasn’t a defeat, #11 and you’ll realize it about this time next year when the Durham and Barr reports have exposed the demonrats, some are on trial and some are already in prison, and PDT has won in a landslide and we’ve taken the House back.
Now, why don’t you go back to DU and LOL there?

They all like those paychecks too much. Too bad they could not have held together on the repeal of Obamacare like that.
Same with the democrats. Most knew it was all a scam but following the witch like an obedient Flying Monkey was mandatory.

Yup, the GOP motto "you just wait til next year". LOL, lighten up. This has got to be about the 1,000th "most important time in history" I have experienced in my 72 years. There will be more.

Re #13, Justin Amash voted Yes on both Articles. As an Independent (former Republican).
Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii voted Present on both Articles.
Only three Democrats voted No. Representatives Jeff Van Drew of New Jersey and Collin Peterson of Minnesota on both Articles;, Jared Golden of Maine on Article II.
