Chuck Schumer’s moan that “the facts” need to “com[e] out” before a full impeachment trial can occur is an invitation to a motion to dismiss the House’s articles of impeachment, once they arrive. The House had its opportunity to develop the facts. If it didn’t develop facts sufficient to support removing the president, the Senate shouldn’t waste its time on the matter.
Mitch McConnell reportedly is considering a motion to dismiss. According to this report, he hinted that the Senate will move to dismiss the articles of impeachment after opening argument.
McConnell noted that in the 1999 trial of Bill Clinton, Schumer supported a motion to dismiss the case.

The articles are bogus should be dismissed.
They used half of what the President said in a statement, never proved anything.
They have only one witness that has first hand knowledge of any thing.
After this is over if they can't be fired, they need to be reassigned to to worst places available.

McConnell is an expert in stalling and blocking. His way of wielding power is through Robert's Rules of Order rather than trying to exude the persona of a down-home, likeable guy. He knows the stuff he needs to know---backwards, forwards and sideways. I'm thinking it's his time to shine---really shine.

Where ya been Schuckie?? The facts have already come out, and have been coming out for the past three years. Just because you do not agree with them, doesn't mean they aren't facts Schuckie. In fact, the coming tsunami of facts is gonna hopefully allow Trump to really clean political house, just like he has said he wants to do. Power Line is still doing good work and explaining the legalities to us who do not practice Law. Turtle needs to start being more supportive of the voters and who we choose for president if he wants to keep his seat. Kentucky has an interesting female candidate just waiting to take his Senate seat.

Earlier poster is correct. Senator McConnell knows how to handle this mess and we can depend on that. Another earlier poster seems to believe a Senator or Congressman is only elected to rubber stamp the leader of their party. I would be very unhappy if my representatives in Washington embraced that role 24/7.

I don't think John Bolton's testimony would bring the results the Dims hope for.

Dismiss.
I don’t want to take any chances on what the dems have up their sleeves. However turn the tables and investigate all that are screaming for impeachment. Just what have they done to deserve to be in office. How would they like to go through what they have put President Trump through?

Both Trump and the House made 'mistakes'. But PDT's mistake was in an attempt to live up to his oath of office to enforce the laws. The House mistake is a ill concealed attempt to overturn a legally expressed will of the People. Big difference!

Absolutely agree. Dismiss it forthwith. Given the chance, Dems will try to play the Christine Blasey Ford card for months.

FTA: ''President Trump made a mistake by trying, briefly, to use aid to Ukraine as a means of inducing Ukraine to announce an investigation of his likely opponent in the 2020 election.''
Not true! The delay in aid was for other reasons, which have been explained. Also, Biden was never mentioned in the conversation. Further, President Trump did not ask the Ukraine to investigate on his behalf- he asked for it on behalf of the country. In addition, Biden may, or may not, be a ''likely opponent'' in the 2020 election. Even further, it wouldn't matter! Remember: No one is above the law!
Paul, you need to be more honest in your story.

Like one poster here mentioned, Biden was not Trump's opponent at the date of the phone call. Biden was not mentioned in the conversation or his son Hunter. The President was conducting his foreign policy like any other leader would. Biden is still not his opponent so why is this even discussed.
It's time for Senator McConnell to shelve this farce and end this. For a show trial to last possibly a year while democrats can posture would make all people lose faith in their government. End this Mitch and just let half the country be mad.

Mirengoff the NeverTrumper, having a lucid flash......then he falls back into his TDS insanity with this rubbish:
"President Trump made a mistake by trying, briefly, to use aid to Ukraine as a means of inducing Ukraine to announce an investigation of his likely opponent in the 2020 election."
THAT is complete fiction. Read the transcript. He did nothing of the kind. He asked if it would be possible to get to the bottom of what Ukraine did in the 2016 campaign, and at no time made any connection to witholding aid.
Mirengoff is doubly wrong here. And so are all criminals forever protected from having past criminal acts investigated if they announce that they are running for President?
