On this week’s broadcast of “Fox News Sunday,” anchor Chris Wallace asked White House adviser Pam Bondi if President Donald Trump understood a free and fair press covers both sides of the story.Wallace said, “President Trump tweeted late yesterday that we, Fox News Sunday, should not even be doing an interview with James Comey or with Adam Schiff.”He added, “My question, Pam, is does the president understand that it’s the duty of a free and fair press to cover both sides of the story?”Bondi said, “Of course he does.

Like all of us deplorables, I’m sure President Trump knows very well what the role of the press is. The real question is, do you and your fellow “journalists”, Chris?

A "free press" means that journalists will not be arrested and jailed for anything that they report. It doesn't make them immune to criticism or having their objectivity questioned. I would like for Mr. Wallace to name one journalist that has been arrested. He is free to "report" anything that he wants and we are free to critisize him when it is determined that his reporting is not factual.

These "reporters" are certainly a touchy bunch. They criticize (not their job) but can't take it in return. To answer Wallace: "yes, do you understand the role of the press?"

The old role? Before 1970? The task of reporting events?
Or the new role? The Cronkite role: "this war is lost!"
It wasn't. But he said so, and it was truth.
Shaping public opinion, oh yeah. Tell what we need to hear.
Elect Hillary. Impeach Trump. They are smart. Just ask them. And we hide behind our guns and Bibles.
Don't but from their advertisers. Don't watch or listen to their propaganda.

The problem is not does the President understand the roll of the press, but that the press does not fulfill its roll as most of us see it. It has become, for many, a partisan wing of the the Democratic party and actively pushes a political agenda as opposed to producing information that is accurate, unbiased, and informative of both sides of an issues. I have been around a while and always new the press to be full of lefty democrats but was usually able to trust the the actual news was honest and reasonably fair. For the last twenty or thirty years I have increasingly found that to no longer be the case. Today all you need to do is read an article to know the writer and the papers political bias'. This is why a large number of us no longer trust or use the MSM for news and information.

No American can be forced to listen broadcast news programs, forced to read ANY newspaper, forced to shut up in criticizing any news program, news broadcaster, any news paper or any "journalist". For most "journalists", they themselves think they're smarter than anyone else. Most of them, including Wallace are remarkably stupid. They don't even know it.
Does Wallace understand that what he says or thinks may be totally irrelevant to the reality of others?

Wallace understands very well. The real question is does he have the character, integrity and honesty to do his professional duty. PDT and hundreds of millions of Americans have come to the conclusion that he and his likes do not. THAT is the real issue.

Someone needs to tell poor Chris that he’s looking into the wrong end of the telescope. It’s not about you and the press, Chris. You are just reporters, not principals, and you have been and still are doing a lousy job. In fact, you are one of the very worst.

Ratings must be low. Advertisers are not renewing their contract. Wallace tries for a headline.

The MSM do not understand the purpose of the press, which is to present non-partisan, unbiased, factual NEWS. If editorializing/opinions are to be made, that must be made clear IN ADVANCE. The MSM have lied so much, and continue to do so, that they have lost the meaning of PRESS. it isn't just the major outlets. The two main newspapers in our area are far LEFT. When the recent IG report was issued, one of buried the news on Page 8. Unforgivable.

My business is in the senior market and our local paper is in the dumpster subscription wise...It's a joke...maybe 10% of the many seniors I talk to even subscribe anymore...Nothing worth reading and what is can be gotten online...i feel sorry for the delivery people...driving ever larger routes to deliver the same rag whose price is always negotiable...due to their own bias ...

Chris Wallace is the Hunter Biden of the press-he only has a job because of his daddy. But unlike HB, he does seem to posses some talent here, although he uses it in a manner more becoming of The National Enquirer. He wants to have a 'gotcha' moment and make himself part of the story. I agree with poster #1, Wallace seems to have forgotten that the role of the press is to INFORM, not INDOCTRINATE, and above all, NOT TO LIE.

The role of the press is to report the news. Today's press does not do that. They try to influence the government and the voting public. Chris Wallace knows that. His question is disingenuous at best.

I have little use for Chris Wallace. I miss Tony Snow. Even Britt Hume was worlds better than Wallace, though I still watch Fox News Sunday each week. Their commentators are nowhere near as impressive as they had ten years ago.
In the interest of being fair to Wallace, I'll say that he's clearly superior to Chuck Todd. Low bar, I know.

Both sides of the story -- you mean like the lie and the truth?
If only the presstitutes would even mention the truth. Many of them now just make it up as they go, especially NYT, WaPo, and CNN. It's been disappointing to see Fox transform themselves more and more into the image of the traditional MSM, Even if they did it more gradually than Drudge. smh

So CNN and MSDNC's ratings are tanking casue Trump doesn't understand their roles? Drudge's traffic is down nearly 25% cause mean ole Trumjp doesn't understand Drudge's role? Maybe Chris doesn't understand the role of the remote. We knuckle dragging neanderthals don't understand the role of a 'free' press. No, all we understand is fake news.

True journalism covers “who, what, when, where, why, and how.” True journalism does not interject “opinion”. True journalism will not commit sins of commission or omission to shape the news to conform to the political biases of the reporter and/or news organization.

The problem is Chris knows what an outright lie is and he knows what lying by omission is, but he doesn't care. He, like his daddy, would happily do and say ANYTHING to get noticed, to grab a rating point. At least a lawyer sells you his moral position. Talking heads like Chris haven't said or done a truly honest thing since they stared into the red light.

Chris, the press has not been acting in a proper role. It is no longer objective. It is so highly biased now that it is officially the propaganda arm of the Democrat Party, as well as a strong supporter of the Socialist and Communist Parties. The majority of the mainstream media is hellbent on destroying our Constitutional Republic as our Founders envisioned. They want to fundamentally transform our country into something completely different. Yes, Cronkite was one of the early anti-American presstitutes.

This all started with Kolin Kaperneck and I don't believe the NFL will ever recover these fans! People found out that they could sit home and watch a game and have a $1.00 Hot Dog and a $1.25 beer with shots for fun! And, with a TIVO the game can be recorded and all commercials skipped! I wouldn't go to a Vikings game to sit in the owners box! I'd like to live through the trip into Mogadishpolis and back out!
