US officials warn of uncontrollable
escalation with Iran in Iraq

Original Article

US military officials have escalated their warnings to Iran that a military conflict could be looming between the countries in Iraq due to incessant attacks on US-linked targets blamed on Tehran-backed militias. Two rockets were fired Thursday at a military base near Baghdad airport housing US troops, the 10th such attack since late October, the Iraqi army said. (Snip) Washington has expressed mounting concern about the flurry of attacks on US bases and diplomatic missions, several of which it has blamed on Shiite militia groups trained by its foe and rival for influence Tehran. Tensions between Iran and the US have soared since Washington pulled out of a landmark nuclear agreement

Comments:

Article claims that Baghdad has "security forces" trained by both the US and Iran. How is that working out? More than likely, the Iranian proxy will "infiltrate" into our forces to set up "ambushes". What is our tripwire to punish these "mosquito" attacks?

Iran is acting like they want a confrontation. Answer the question, what do they think they will gain from one and then proceed accordingly.

"Escalated warnings" are a sign of weak military leadership, like one would expect under Obama rules of engagement, especially in response to "incessant attacks" on US troops and diplomatic personnel. The lives of US personnel placed in harm's way should never be used as tripwires for more economic sanctions.

Pull every American out of the ****hole and let the 2 muslim countries fight it out. Even if we helped Iraq win, with the subsequent loss of American lives, we still wouldn't have anything but a country full of muslims that hate us!

Before we leave the area we should bomb Tehran just for the hell of it. What are they going to do, hate us and call us the Great Satan?

For the first time ever, women make up the majority of U.S. medical school students this year, according to the Association of American Medical Colleges. Women just barely surpassed the number of men enrolled in medical schools, comprising 50.5% of the student population. The milestone builds upon earlier turning points for women in 2017 and 2018. In 2017, women accounted for most of first-year students in medical schools. Last year, they made up the majority of medical school applicants. “This is a welcomed milestone,” said Dr. John Prescott, the AAMC’s chief academic officer. “Women have long been the majority of U.S. college graduates

Islamabad, PAK - At least 13 people were killed in a fiery collision between a passenger bus and a pickup truck carrying smuggled Iranian gasoline early Friday in southwestern Pakistan, officials said. (Snip) Despite being rich in natural resources, and the site of billions of dollars’ worth of Chinese development projects, Baluchistan is one of the most troubled places in Pakistan. The security forces have used a heavy hand in fighting a long-running insurgency there, Islamist militant groups often target the Shiite minority population, and much of the Afghan Taliban leadership is still based in Quetta. Officials say that smuggling has long been a factor in Baluchistan,
Even Hermit Crabs Have Wealth Inequality 8 replies

Hermit crabs face a uniquely competitive real estate market. They need bigger and bigger shells throughout their lives, but can’t grow these homes themselves. So they rely on castoff snail shells, and are constantly on the lookout for better properties entering the market. A study that will be published next month in the journal Physica A found that the distribution of these shells in one hermit crab population was surprisingly similar to the distribution of wealth in human societies. That may make hermit crabs one of the first animals known to experience wealth inequality. (Snip)“Vacancy chains are just another way of transferring property,” he said.

Republicans turned the second day of House Judiciary Committee impeachment hearings into a direct attack on Joe Biden's son Hunter – citing his cocaine use and ugly public divorce as they tried to amend the Democrats' articles of impeachment against Donald Trump. Just minutes after the panel voted down a GOP amendment to strike down an abuse of power article, Donald Trump loyalist Rep. Matt Gaetz introduced a three-line amendment that explicitly mentioned Hunter Biden and the Ukrainian energy firm Burisma. It would change the articles of impeachment to allege that Trump's call to Ukraine's president was seeking information on Hunter Biden, not his father Joe -

A British scientist found penguins engaging in 'depraved' sexual activity including rape and 'prostitution' more than 100 years ago, a new book has revealed. George Murray Levick made the findings in 1910 but his manuscript was too shocking to publish in Edwardian Britain. On his travels, he witnessed a kind of penguin 'prostitution' in which stones would be exchanged for female penguins. (Snip) In his account, Levick described witnessing 'gang rape' and sexual abuse of chicks, according to The Sun which has seen a copy of the book. Female penguins would be 'pimped out' with stones, but would sometimes run away with them after a courtship ritual, he said.

Alberto Espina also said some human remains have been found. The C-130 Hercules transport aircraft was bound for the Presidente Eduardo Frei Montalva air base in Antarctica on a routine maintenance mission with 17 crew members and 21 passengers when it lost radar contact. Hours after its disappearance, Chilean authorities announced that the plane had ‘crashed’ as, by that time, it would have ran out of fuel. An emergency search and rescue operation was launched by the Chilean Air Force, and some debris was recovered

Hillary Clinton looked wonderfully youthful at an event on Broadway in New York last night - and aesthetic experts suggest it could be down to regular 'tweakments' and cosmetic procedures. The radiant former First Lady, 72, showed off a wrinkle-free complexion and plumped-up cheeks as she joined her husband Bill behind the scenes of Ain't Too Proud: The Temptations Musical at The Imperial Theatre. Sporting a vibrant pink tunic dress with black trousers and a statement gold necklace, Chicago-born Hillary smiled as she chatted and posed with the cast. Her glowing skin

As a former U.S. attorney general, I am reluctant to publicly criticize my successors. I respect the office and understand just how tough the job can be. But recently, Attorney General William P. Barr has made a series of public statements and taken actions that are so plainly ideological, so nakedly partisan and so deeply inappropriate for America’s chief law enforcement official that they demand a response from someone who held the same office. Last month, at a Federalist Society event, the attorney general delivered an ode to essentially unbridled executive power, dismissing the authority of the legislative and judicial branches — and the checks

BROWNSVILLE, Texas -- Salvador Castillo was yearning for tranquility when he became enchanted by a one-acre homestead close -- but not too close -- to the city, a place where cows graze beneath whispering mesquite trees on the property's edge. Castillo, an Afghanistan war veteran, and his wife bought the home using military benefits and grew their family into their new neighborhood -- about half a mile from a bend in the Rio Grande. They never imagined a border wall could dissect their property someday. But the first letter, stamped with an official government seal, arrived about a year ago. Their neighbors, the Carrascos and Trevinos, got them too.

Perhaps if Democrats would momentarily shelve their obsession with Donald Trump, they’d comprehend the staggering abuse of power they’re defending these days. Because much of Tuesday’s Senate Judiciary Committee Hearing with DOJ inspector general Michael Horowitz was jaw-dropping. Horowitz’s testimony, in fact, sounded little like the media depiction of the IG report only the day before. Most major outlets had stressed that the IG had found no bias in the Crossfire Hurricane investigation. But failing to uncover explicit instances of bias and exonerating the FBI aren’t the same thing. Worse, most of the media had buried the lede. An honest headline would have read something like: “Obama’s FBI cooked up
