Varying Expectations For IG Horowitz

If Senator Lindsey Graham is correct – tomorrow the DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz will release a much anticipated review, looking into how the FBI and DOJ used an application to the FISA court to investigate the Trump campaign. There are wide-ranging opinions about what exactly this report may, or may not, outline.(Snip)A review of the last three IG reports which brush up against the same DOJ and FBI network(Snip) shows the IG report on FISA is likely to come down somewhere in the middle. ie. mistakes were made; poor judgements were evident; some unprofessional conduct was found; some lack of candor was identified; department policies were not followed;

A warning: This is rather depressing.

If Sundance’s skepticism is warranted, and Horowitz flunks, we still have Barr and Durham, who are supposed to be the Main Event. We have also been told that Barr disagrees with Horowitz’s conclusions. That gives a ray of hope. Horowitz was just the first investigator. Barr and Durham have done much more and they - via prosecutor Durham and the grand jury - have the power to do something about the miscreants. They have had prosecutors interviewing witnesses, not just aides or lawyers. The grand jury issues indictments. We will see...

Agreed, this whole "intent" BS needs to be GONE. Question: Was the law broken? Answer: Yes. Result: GUILTY. Intent has NOTHING whatsoever to do with it. Once "intent" is applied, then ALL crimes can be let pass.

''Intent'' is not a valid exculpatory issue! If I get drunk and cause a death on the highway, I can't say that I didn't ''intend'' for that to occur. I would be prosecuted and most likely imprisoned, pay a fine, have my driving license revoked, and whatever else the judge could do to me! It's the act, not the intent!

Just remember when it comes to DC politics, especially the obviously politically based targeting of candidate and then President Trump by the DC UniParty and DC super bureaucratic “Deep State”, history has always shown that the bias has always been to cover up, and so there is really no reason that will not continue to occur with the casual use of the legal principle of “intent” as a defense with the release of this latest IG report. Remember for decades there have always been counterintelligence investigations targeting Russian activities to determine their impact on the USA, so it is pretty easy to fraudulently insert Trump and his campaign into an ongoing investigation that commenced upon proper predication at an earlier time.

I don't care what they say about the integrity of Horowitz. We must remember that he is a tenured "swamp" dweller, therefore I believe his whole report will deflect culpability away from the main players like Comey, Brennan, McCabe, et al.

U.S. Attorney John Durham issued a statement contradicting a key and consequential conclusion of Inspector General Michael Horowitz, and reads in part: …”last month we advised the Inspector General that we do not agree with some of the report’s conclusions as to predication and how the FBI case was opened.” (Snip) What inspector general Horowitz outlines in that key section is that: (A) he has reviewed everything, and talked to everyone (current and former) within the FBI; and (B) the ONLY evidence they FBI cited for the opening of Crossfire Hurricane is the singular conversation between George Papadopoulos and Australian Ambassador Alexander Downer and/or Downer’s asst. Let’s be clear, U.S. Attorney John Durham is as no-nonsense as it gets. That’s the reason why he was selected to do the ONLY full and comprehensive investigation, with the power to indict, into the Deep-State manipulations that took place before, during, and after the 2016 election – manipulations that were intended to negate that election’s outcome and create a coup to remove President Trump from office. Today, Mr. Durham made clear the IG report is not even close to being the last word on this matter and in fact came up woefully short in helping to reveal the truth. Durham’s words are said to be inciting a great deal of

Horowitz’s investigation was limited in scope and thus will leave unanswered many of the questions surrounding the FBI’s targeting of the Trump campaign in the spring

Last week, a friend of mine gave me the perfect metaphor for explaining impeachment. An ancient Buddhist parable relates that six blind men were wandering through the wilderness and encountered an elephant. Since none of them had ever seen such a creature, they each described it based on the part that they could feel. So each one consequently called it a rope (tail), wall (flank), tree (leg), spear (tusk), snake (trunk), and mat (ear). This is the case with the farcical three-year impeachment quest that has seized much of the media and the political system since Donald Trump won the election.

The South Carolina Senator went on Maria Bartiromo’s Fox News show, Sunday Morning Futures, to throw a wet blanket on conservatives’ dreams of a Senate trial that would get to the bottom of the plot against President Trump. Many Americans remain nonplussed over revelations in the House Intelligence Committee’s Impeachment Inquiry Report that its chairman, Adam Schiff, not only secretly subpoenaed telephone records from President Trump’s attorney, Rudy Giuliani, but also obtained responses that detailed dates and lengths of phone calls to Trump attorney Jay Sekulow, ranking committee member Devin Nunes, and Hill reporter John Solomon. That Schiff self-disclosed this action as a rightful part of his committee’s information gathering is equally stunning. Every bit as bad, it appears that national telephone carriers AT&T and Verizon, who so tout their corporate concerns about subscriber privacy, responded to such obviously politicized demands without a whimper.

Portland, Oregon, like many cities on the left coast, is struggling with a growing homelessness crisis. But what can they do about it? One idea that’s now being floated is to change the building codes so that all new structures (including private property, not just government buildings) include spaces for people to “rest” and “feel welcome and safe.” This understandably has prospective property owners concerned, since the wording is all quite vague and suggests that they will be forced to allow the homeless to camp in and around their buildings.
