Six Saudi nationals were detained for questioning Friday near a naval air station in Pensacola, Fla., after a Saudi gunman opened fire there, killing three people before being shot dead by officers, a senior U.S. official told Fox News.
The FBI, which is leading the investigation into the shooting -- which took place Friday morning at Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola in Florida -- declined to reveal the identity of the shooter in the early stages of the investigation, but a U.S. official told Fox News the gunman was an aviation student from Saudi Arabia named Mohammed Saeed Alshamrani.

My first thought is, we've trained Saudi pilots for many years, so wouldn't one think that by now they have hundreds or thousands of competent pilots of their own they can use as "trainers"! We should NOT be allowing foreign military of any kind into the midst of our troops. This happens over and over. Enough! Shut down ANY programs allowing them on our Bases before we lose more of our Brave Men!

#2 is right. There is enough institutional memory in these countries to train them over there. It's done now with selected aircraft and ground systems so why do we insist on importing these guys? I've experienced first hand these so-called devout muslims at other military posts. They absolutely go wild with the freedoms of this country. Drinking, prostitutes, porn, fighting, and all so someone (brass, contractor?) can benefit. I remember 17 Afghans just walked away from language training in San Antonio some years ago. Anyone found these guys yet?

Why does my Uncle Sam keep inviting the foxes into the hen house and then wonder why his hens disappeared?

We should tell the Saudis to hire contractors and train their own pilots in Saudi Arabia.

If you're wondering about military pilot training, what about those Iraqi and Afghani forces that just can't fend for themselves, needing American boots on the ground, etc. after nearly two decades of US "training".

It's all about economics.
We sell them the planes so we have to teach them to fly them.
Not sure but this guy is an anomaly.
Out of the hundreds we train one goes on a killing spree.
Certainly worth being concerned about and investigated, but is it something to cause the end of arms sales to the Saudi's
Knowing that if we don't sell them someone else will.

They hate us most because of our Democrat citizenry. Almost as much as our Democrat citizenry hates us.

After September 11, why are we letting ANY Saudis into our country for such training. Why?!
Fifteen of the 19 hijackers on that day were Saudis. I shall never, ever forget that.

Detained for questioning? They should all be on a flight home by now after being added to the list of foreigners who are never allowed back in the country.

Saudi Arabia can afford to bring the instructors to Saudi and have the teaching done there. That's where they wil be flying from.

The UK Daily Mail has much better coverage on this one.
Apparently, there were 6 Saudis in on this. Three actually recorded the shooting on a cell phone.

Shades of 9/11 where Saudis were in America receiving flight training. 18 years have gone by since 9/11, but has anything really changed? I've always wondered if it would be possible for another 9/11 to happen because security practices became lax again. Wouldn't rule it out. Wonder if the shooter was on FBI's radar at all.

The FBI will have to pull some agents off investigating Trump to look into this.

Yes, radical Islam has entered our military and naval bases.
It has also entered our House of Representatives.
My God, how naive' can we be. 9-11-2001 was less than two decades ago.

If the saudi's were to use their US trained pilots to train their own new pilots, the Saudi air force would soon be reduced to crashing Piper cubs. Unless something has changed there, high profile jobs like fighter pilots are given on the basis of social status not merit. years ago a friend working over there watched them trying to fix a military helicopter by slowly swapping out virtually every replaceable part until it worked.
