The most dangerous place for an academic is often between the House and the impeachment of an American president. I knew that going into the first hearing of the House Judiciary Committee on the impeachment of Donald Trump. After all, Alexander Hamilton that impeachment would often occur in an environment of “agitated passions.” Yet I remained a tad naive in hoping that an academic discussion on the history and standards of it might offer a brief hiatus from hateful rhetoric on both sides.
In my testimony Wednesday, I lamented that, as in the impeachment of President Clinton from 1998 to 1999, there is an intense “rancor and rage” and “stifling intolerance”

Turley is a thinking democrat and that is why he is being excoriated. Democrats believe whatever they feel is fact. No need for evidence or proof. They just know the President is guilty, therefore, he is more than deserving of impeachment.
Mr. Turley keeps talking about abuse of power as a reason to impeach. I just don’t see it. Obama did far more things that would be considered an abuse of power, but where was Turley’s outrage then? Ultimately, while Turley is a voice of reason, he would, no doubt, welcome impeachment because he is one of them and they cannot abide a country in which Donald Trump and his America First agenda is primary.
The democrats have broken the impeachment process as was outlined by the Founders. It is clearly a partisan attempt to remove a duly elected President without any evidence of a high crime or misdemeanor. They are on this ego trip because they know if they can get rid of the President, everything will go back to the way it was. There will be corruption on a massive scale and the Deep State will be reinvigorated as the controlling force behind any administration. The bureaucrats will essentially be running the government behind the scenes. Our God given freedoms will be lost to the nightmare that will be the United States government. Mr. Turley’s rightful interpretation of the Constitution will be moot. It won’t be need because the democrats will have finally accomplished the fundamental transformation of this country. God help us to do everything in our power to stop these progressive zealots from destroying the last, best hope this world has.

Welcome to the world of The Crazies, Professor. You don't seem to understand that in that weird world, FACTS and TRUTH are irrelevant, You are a Democrat, therefor, you MUST tow the party line whether it's full of lies or not or you WILL be attacked and threatened with death, including your family. It's what they do.

The facts may not match the frenzy but if you want to stay in a party of emotional cripples you will have to drink the water.

Well, gee, professor, if you’re getting death threats and job removal threats from your fellow travelers, I have to ask - why are you still a demonrat?
Fort he same reason that Juan Williams still is after his party attacked him and fired him from NPR?

So all the other GOP witnesses were not credible?
Republicans have such a way with words.
Another of my favorites is when a Republican asks “how stupid do they think we are that we would believe that?”
Well they think we’re real stupid.
The correct question is “how stupid are they that they think we would believe that absurd claim?”

Turley is dancing on the head of a pin.
"an offense does not have to be indictable"
Yet, indictable offences give the Congress a solid foundation on which to work. It also gives a President solid guidelines which he must not cross. He has many legal advisors to point out possible violations of law. The President is given broad, SINGULAR, and NECESSARY power unlike any other official named in the Constitution, bound only by existing law.
"it could include “serious misconduct or a violation of public trust""
Perhaps so but this path is fraught with significant pitfalls. Misconduct or violations of trust, ACCORDING TO WHO? When there is a partisan attack, judgement is coming from ONE side with a deeply vested interest in a successful impeachment. The president is guilty because "We say so!" is a terrible foundation for government. Further, there is a clear message that this is so. The Senate requires a 2/3 supermajority to remove an impeached president. That is a CLEAR signal that the electoral will of the people must not be overturned frivolously. It requires bipartisan and significant agreement. Should a president ever be removed from office for being "naughty"? It seems clear to me that every president has qualified for this when examined by the opposition.
Another clear signal is that the President is designated THE executive. Such a specific and extensive authority was not defined lightly. Such an authority will always leave some disagreeing with its use. We must NOT have our Chief Executive and Commander in Chief hamstrung by the likes of a lying and hectoring Adam Schiff, a pompous and incompetent Jerry Nadler, and a scolding and doddering Nancy Pelosi. Local officials going after a person like this would rightly be guilty of harassment. We should demand better of our national representatives.
Impeachment is a waste of time and a fraud. The dems are debasing themselves. Turley tried to walk a fine line but found out that, in today's dem party, you are either with the fanatics or you are a target. Enjoy the mud Professor.

At this point the House GOP should refuse to participate and not bother to even show up for anything having to do with impeachment. The Rats have been hell-bent on a predetermined outcome since 20 January 2017, so why continue to lend an air of legitimacy to this farce by playing their game?

Anytime you hear someone say, "I feel that.." or "I fear that...", this is a sure indication they are a bleeding heart well-indoctrinated leftist. As Turley suggests in his article title, passion = "I feel that". "I feel that" passion is what I perceive as the truth. Or, "Words mean what I say they mean."

Why is America putting up with this very dangerous farce? Yes, we have a vote and used it. As everyone with a thinking brain knows, the dems are out to overturn it because they are pouting that they didn't win. The main stream press is in their pocket so backs up this farce. Fellow Americans, we are witnessing the downfall of a great nation. We can't vote until next year, they're going to get violent and pout again because they are going to lose big time. It seems that we are helpless in the meantime.

The Democrats have managed to trivialize impeachment and make it a big nothingburger. Anyone with a brain knows that it is meritless and therefore meaningless.

To add to #2, welcome to the world of real political hatred. Donald Trump's greatest contribution may boil down to unmasking who the left and most democrats really are: petty, mean, hateful, and power-hungry. Since politics is their ONLY religion, they have declared Republicans, Christians, conservatives, and the "deplorable" who voted for Trump as evil (and anyone on the left that even hints of agreeing with Trump on anything); ergo, these people must be destroyed no matter what the tactic or approach ultimately achieves the desired end. We can only hope and pray that enough of the American people have become "woke" to the ongoing war - one that has been steadily growing in intensity since the late 60s - being waged against most of us by these selfish, "I know better than you" elitists.
Winning this war will require a determined effort from those of us under attack, starting with regaining control of the education system. The press appears to have already destroyed its credibility with the American people thru its outright constant hatred for Trump and those who voted for him.

Trump's crime is simple.
He knows how to make money without selling influence, license or favor.
That makes him dangerous to all the self-serving criminals in government.
EG----Biden BRAGS about extorting Ukrainian officials yet Trump is charged without evidence.
Biden calls an octogenarian a "Damn Liar" and claims that: "No one has ever said that" about the obvious and undisputed history of his son's 'indiscretions'.
Q: If I run for President against Trump do I become immune, ipso facto, to all criminal prosecution ?
A: Hell No......but Joe does.
