Speaking during a House Judiciary Committee hearing Wednesday morning, George Washington University Law Professor Jonathan Turley called out Democrats and fellow members of the panel for moving forward with impeachment because "everyone is mad." “I get it. You're mad. The president's mad. My Republican friends are mad. My Democratic friends are mad. My wife is mad. My kids are mad. Even my dog seems mad and Luna is a golden-doodle and they don't get mad.  Wide headline split *

Comments:

I read the list of 4 witnesses that were going to appear in Nadler's theater today and told my wife I only had respect for one of them.....Turley. And here is why!

I actually watched half an hour of this circus today. Here's what I saw: 4 public sector resume-heavy talking heads, being asked by every questioner with a D by their name to concur with his/her outrageous and unsubstantiated allegations (more correctly, opinions) against the President. The Democrats have managed to go on live television FREE for days and trash the President of the United States under the guise of impeachment. But they haven't even voted properly to begin impeachment proceedings! This is just the pre-show. What a travesty of pretend-justice! They weaken our Republic with their petty dog and pony show. I embarrassed that I watched, even for a few minutes.

I got a quick look at that Karlan creature who dragged Barron Trump into her idiocy. She looks like a clone of RBG and has the same mindset. She also has a HUGE ax to grind since she was on Illary’s short list for SCOTUS nominees. She should never have been allowed to even take a seat in those farcical proceedings. Oh, and, BTW, she identifies a bisexual. Could anyone find a better example of a stereotypical ugly angry bitter left wing pro-partial birth abortion radical feminazi, if they tried? Disgusting.

They are not impeaching the president because they are mad. The impeachment is because the Democrats are going to lose the next election. Exactly right. The Democrats are going to be a lot more than thumped.

Nadler is a major doofus for dragging that Karlan windbag to the circus. Karlan has the looks and personality that could haunt houses , maybe Jerry thinks she is hot.

Dems are impeaching Trump because they are lunatics. Nothing they have done is rational or good for the Country. We are seeing who dems really are and how they would govern. They are dangerous, incompetent, and really, really bad for the Country. The three idiots that babbled today demonstrate the type of legal idiocy that has ruined our courts. Trump has replaced a lot of these type of thinkers but he needs another 4 years to complete the job.

A sign of the times, that historians one day will puzzle over: Psychiatrists Organize Campaign to Declare Trump ‘Dangerous,’ Back Impeachment. The campaign involves the usual suspects: Psychiatrists with the World Mental Health Coalition are soliciting signatures in a campaign to support the impeachment of President Donald Trump predicated on claims that he is mentally unstable. Or, put another way, on the ground that he is a Republican. In an email forwarded to PJ Media, three psychiatrists with the coalition ask other psychiatrists to sign on to a petition to the House of Representatives Judiciary Committee to include a statement on Trump’s supposed mental instability into the official record of the impeachment inquiry.

RUSH: So given that this is happening, yesterday I offered Pelosi a way out of this. I gave her a philosophical way out, and that is to say that, while the evidence is overwhelming and we all know that Trump is scum and we know that he attempted to meddle and we know that he attempted to investigate his own opponent, we know, we know, we know, we know, we still have to deal with partisan Republican bigots who happen to run the Senate. And there’s no way that they’re going to join us in agreement that Trump needs to go. In fact, he’s gonna be acquitted.

House Democrats reportedly are considering whether to pursue in their impeachment inquiry matters arising from the Mueller investigation. Specifically, they are looking at whether President Trump lied to Robert Mueller. The Washington Post’s report on this development is based on representations made by House Democrats to the federal appeals court in Washington, D.C. The Dems told the court that they need secret grand jury evidence from the Mueller probe to be released in order to consider, as part of their impeachment inquiry, whether Trump lied to Mueller.

With Santa Clarita not even a distant memory, anti-gun voices are already using it to demand more gun control. Even before the facts were known, Sen. Dick Blumenthal demanded the Senate capitulate to his whims and pass a universal background check bill that wouldn’t have done anything to prevent the shooting as far as anyone can tell. This is normal for anti-gunners. They routinely prattle about how we need more gun control after a mass shooting. However, Santa Clarita is in California, the most gun controlled state in the nation.

The New York Times today took after FedEx for the sin of having a low corporate tax bill. Sample: FedEx reaped big savings [from the Trump tax cut], bringing its effective tax rate from 34 percentin fiscal year 2017 to less than zero in fiscal year 2018, meaning that, overall, the government technically owed it money. But it did not increase investment in new equipment and other assets in the fiscal year that followed, as Mr. Smith said businesses like his would. . . Fred Smith, the founder and CEO of FedEx, decided to punch back twice as hard:

In an unflattering column about President Trump called “Incompetence is not an impeachable offense,” Marc Thiessen writes: What we saw on display Wednesday were two dedicated, experienced career foreign policy officials who had been desperately trying to figure out what the president wanted — and inferring his intentions based on snippets of information from others. But their efforts to divine Trump’s desires presume that the president knew what he wanted. It’s not clear he did. His handling of Ukraine seemed less the execution of an intelligible plan than a chaotic mishmash of constantly changing urges and demands.
The impeachment hearing, opening salvos 11 replies

I was able to watch the first hour and a half of today’s impeachment hearing until a prior, far more enjoyable commitment took precedence. I saw the opening statements of Adam Schiff and Devin Nunes, plus the opening statements of today’s two witnesses, George Kent and Bill Taylor. Here are my impressions: Schiff devoted his opening statement to a summary of what he says the evidence will show. He presented his statement in measured-sounding tones, a welcome departure from his previous attempt to put words in President Trump’s mouth. Most of the facts Schiff presented are supported by documents and/or testimony.

Today the House Intelligence Committee holds its first public hearings in the Schiff show. The Schiff show is a sort of preface to the impeachment article(s) that the House will send over to the Senate before the end of the year. Something’s happening here. Why is the House Intelligence Committee holding impeachment hearings in search of a high crime or misdemeanor? The structure of the production has struck me from the beginning as a variation of the Russia hoax that consumed the first two-plus years of the Trump administration. The Ukraine matter is to usher in the end of the Trump era by hook or by crook.

On Saturday, San Francisco voters elected the son of two former Weather Underground murderers to serve as their District Attorney. The voters deserve all the hell that is about to break loose. Progressive candidate Chesa Boudin wants to free criminals but prosecute police and ICE agents for doing their jobs. It's no surprise Boudin hates cops so much. His parents did, too. Kathy Boudin and David Gilbert were terrorists in the Weather Underground who murdered two police officers and a security guard during a 1981 robbery of a Brinks armored security car outside New York City.

A little something to cleanse the palate. She said this in an interview today with Howard Stern, which makes it slightly less weird since chatter about lesbians is like 40 percent of the content on that show. Or at least it was when I was a regular listener a million years ago. (In fairness to Stern, she’s the one who brings it up.) He went easy on her by not asking the obvious follow-up: What were you doing at Epstein’s ranch, then? She should consider this a missed opportunity, as a surprise admission of bisexuality would have helped add a little more “diversity” to an upcoming Democratic debate.

This Friday, the top four NCAA Division III women’s soccer teams face off in the national semifinals. One of the final four teams’ goalkeepers, Isa Berardo, is a male transgender playing as a female for Pomona-Pitzer Colleges. Not surprisingly, the male goalie has dominated the field against opposing female players, giving his own a chance to win the national championship thanks to his physical advantages in a key position. This is increasingly happening throughout women’s sports, at all levels from elementary school through professional competitions. It’s creating not equality, but inequality.

Trump said the wall had been tested by “world-class mountain climbers,” and referenced “pictures of young people climbing walls with drugs on their back--a lot of drugs.”

California Sen. Kamala Harris should never have run for president in the first place. Her ambition far exceeded her ability. She hadn’t yet established herself in the U.S. Senate. And she hadn’t exactly excelled in her previous job as California’s attorney general. There wasn’t much of a record worth bragging about on the campaign trail. After being elected to the Senate in a 2016 cakewalk, she should have spent the next three years focused exclusively on representing Californians in Congress, helping the state on such vital issues as water development, environmental protection, healthcare and homelessness. But people around her — political advisors and her sister Maya Harris
