Queen Elizabeth II is apparently considering retiring in about 18 months so her son, Prince Charles, can assume the throne, reports in the UK said Wednesday. The 93-year-old monarch is weighing stepping down around her 95th birthday, the same age that her husband, Prince Philip, withdrew from his royal duties, sources told the UK’s Express. “Her Majesty is mindful of her age and wants to make sure when the time comes, the transition of the Crown is seamless,” a former senior member of the royal household told the outlet. “I understand the queen has given the matter considerable thought and believes that, if she is still alive at 95,

I really like the Queen. I’ve always felt she deserved respect and that Prince Phillip was the sort you could have a decent conversation over a beer at the local pub. Prince Charles is too whacky for my taste. I was astounded Princess Diana put up with him for as long as she did. Andrew appeared to be the more sensible type but it is a shame he went off the rails. Whomever assumes the monarchy has their work cut out for them.

# 6 - Charles was sent to boarding school because most boys of wealthy parents, in England, are. The sad thing is he was sent to one his dad had attended and thrived at. He is a man's man type of guy and Charles most definitely isn't. Charles was taunted, teased and mistreated for four years and said he felt like he was in prison. His mother wanted to send him to a nice school, Eton, but his dad all but said if she did that she would lose her marriage. Doesn't mean I want him to be King, tho. He is all wrapped up in pseudo-science, climate change, global warming, etc. Will would be so much better. And yes, I think it will make Camilla Queen, which is a disgusting thought.

Bonnie Prince Charlie (as he was called in his youth) is dimwitted to the extent that he rarely knows what he is talking about. He has the intellectual capacity of Rudy from Notre Dame fame, but no charm to match Rudy. Charles has the potential to end the royalty system in England - that's how bad he is. How does that compare to Queen Elizabeth? She was a teenager when World War II began, and she trained to be a military truck mechanic, and wound up driving a truck for the duration. Voltaire has been quoted as saying 'true liberty will not exist until the last king is strangled with the intestines of the last priest.' If Voltaire actually said that, he would not have had Queen Elizabeth in mind.

I don’t understand the necessity of a monarchy anymore. Whatever it’s charms it is a costly relic. Assuming it survives, too many male Windsor’s have proven themselves sexually licentious and stupid, even to the point of cruelty. Royalty is expected to embody the people and to behave in a way that inspires. Without the castles, the salivating press and the pomp and ceremony the Windsor’s are just another really dysfunctional family with tons of money.

Agree with #1s assessment of Charles. Never liked him and never will. William would be a great choice. Why take a fuddy duddy brain dead 71 year old and put him in that position? The queen has served since she was 25 years old and has been a class act. A little youth and energy would be good for the monarchy.

The Daily Mail pushed abdication a while back and it turned out to be nothing but speculation. Now they're pushing "retirement," and it is pure speculation again. QEII believes she's been chosen by God to be queen and has dedicated her life "whether it be long or short" to her people. She may scale back her commitments some, but she'll never do anything like retire or make Charles regent. Philip has been quoted as saying their goal is to live as long as possible so that Charles (the feminine hygiene product) has as short a reign as possible. Both QEII and Philip know Charles is a flake.

Charles finally had a chance to “get” his younger brother, who was his mother’s favorite. All those years… What a sour old puss he is. “No one is bigger than the institution of the Royal Family. Not even Andrew, the Queen’s favorite son,” the source said. “Charles recognized that and acted decisively — like the king he may well soon be.” My two bits say she’ll make him regent. Placeholder. He would then conduct many of the duties of the monarch while she stays queen. I don’t believe she likes Charles very much. He is eminently unlikable.

Those who diss Diana as an “adulteress” seem to forget that it was Charles who was wanting to be Camilla’s tampon at the same time he was marrying Diana. Diana was a very young girl. I have never heard or read anything that said she came to the marriage as less than a virgin. In fact, I believe that was probably a requirement. If she committed adultery (and it was more than a nasty tabloid rumor), then frankly I don’t blame her. She was trapped by then in The Firm with a husband who had loved someone else from before they wed.

Whoever is the heir to the British Crown Is set by law and the Queen cannot decide to will replace her when that time comes. Chances are if she does retire from what the British call “public duties” she will remain as the ruling Queen until she passes away, with Charles handling the day by day “public duties” until the Queen passes away. Then long-standing British law will say who succeeds the Queen. Charles is over 70 years old and obviously has a serious health problem. He was recently in India where photographs were taken of him that showed his hands and feet were really swollen as he was entering a religious temple where he had to take his shoes and socks off. Other previous photographs of Charles in the media also have shown that his hands appear swollen. So who knows how long Charles will be around?

Sorry, but based on her previous statements, I am not buying any kind of retirement for her Majesty. She may start giving Charles more responsibilities in 18 months certainly. But she takes her vows to God and Country very seriously, she saw what the abdication did to her Father and to the country at the time. She is not going to do the same thing. Then there is the fact she knows the nation still loathes Camilla the homewrecker. Charles is indeed a no class dolt and very selfish man. He could not even give Diana her biggest day that every Bride looks forward to, because he had to rub his mistress in her face. She saw Camilla too as she walked down the aisle. That double take of hers is on video forever. So the Queen has to do a massive selling job to the nation on the Dolt's behalf, because if Parliament has their say, it will be William not Charles who is crowned. The Queen is in this for the long haul, and other than giving Charles more responsibility, I do not see her retiring.

Part of the title of every British monarch is " defender of THE faith ". The faith being Church of England, Anglican. Church of England came about when Henry VIII wanted a divorce to marry Anne Boleyn. It's no small thing that Henry disengaged from the Catholic church. Look at Ireland. Charles has publicly said " defender of faith"............not THE faith. This means he includes islam. Charles is an idiot from a family of dim bulbs. I like the Queen and wish her well. The royal family is actually part of the House of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. Kaiser Wilhelm II and King George V were first cousins. The House of Windsor was established as an expedient way for the English branch to divorce themselves from the German line during WWI for obvious reasons.

Reading the posts from Americans talking as if they have anything at all to do with the Brithish Royal family is Bizarre. British traditional will make Charles King no matter what looney tunes things he may be up to. He has been preparing for it for 71 years and he will be. Not to worry there will always be people to keep him in his place. He has no real power except to spend money. And some of you really need to get over your obsession with his Diana, she was done wrong but she got in there and did her share of it too. He had one affair but She retaliated and had three or four. And yes they were documented. What’s good for the goose is not necessarily good for the gander. Her life was built on shifting sand, and as adult she should’ve learned something along the way. But she didn’t.

I think the Brits are certainly at the point where they are tired of supporting extravagant life styles of the Royals at a time when many are living paycheck to paycheck and just barely getting by. While there are frugal members of the Firm (Princess Ann comes to mind) most spend money like it grows on trees and Meghan seems on track to bankrupt the family and taxpayers alike. At this point the Brits seem open to abolishing the monarchy when the Queen passes away unless she skips Charles and makes William King. He might be the only way to save it. He and Catherine are loved and respected by the people.

If you want to love this country and I mean deep in your bones, read a few history books and then spend a month or two in the Old World. Federal officers recently intercepted nearly 3,000 fake driver’s licenses and more than 3,100 blank card stocks used to make counterfeit licenses in Kentucky, according to US Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The IDs were heading from China to various locations in New York, the federal agency said, adding that the fake driver’s licenses were seized at an Express Consignment Operations hub in Louisville, Ky. The licenses were for several states, including Florida, Michigan, Illinois, Missouri, New Jersey and Ohio. Authorities in Louisville notified CBP officers in Memphis since the fake identification cards were also shipped to that area, resulting in an additional 527 counterfeit driver’s licenses in Tennessee, officials said.

Young people worldwide planned to hold thousands of demonstrations Friday to protest overconsumption and draw attention to climate change ahead of a United Nations climate conference Monday. In Chicago, demonstrators with the Sunrise Movement Chicago, the Illinois Youth Climate Strike, and other organizations planned to occupy Watertower Place, a major downtown shopping mall. "We will be disrupting business as usual to make sure shoppers cannot ignore the climate emergency," said coordinator Lillie Schneyer, 23. "Watertower Place is an ideal setting for us to draw attention to the culpability of large corporations and fast fashion

A bakery owner in Nebraska is being praised for tackling and holding down a 90-pound teenager who allegedly stole a tip jar containing $15 – but the boy’s mother wants the woman criminally charged for going “way above the law,” according to a report. The 14-year-old boy and a friend were at Farine + Four bakery in Omaha on Thursday when owner Ellie Pegler sprang into action during the alleged theft, the Omaha World-Herald reports. Pegler later posted photos of the incident on her now-deleted Instagram page, complete with images of her bloodied knuckles and a warning for other would-be thieves. “I’m tired of teenagers stealing our tip jar,”

Although it's far from a lead-pipe cinch, a plausible case is to be made that the former first lady Michelle Obama may enter the Democratic primary race. There are three reasons for believing this. First and most obvious is the current field of contenders for the Democrat nomination. As has often been said, they resemble occupants in a clown car that tumble out together for their periodic debates. The emotion that they instill in the general public is not one of enthusiasm but fear. The most seemingly stable among the Democrat field is former Vice President Joe Biden. But Slow Joe is

Hunter Biden is hoping to keep his financial situation under wraps as he responds to legal claims that he’s cheated an ex-stripper out of support and health care costs for their baby, a report said. Biden filed a request to seal all financial records in the paternity case in Arkansas this week, the Daily Mail reported. Biden’s lawyers argue that media organizations have been covering the case, and that the likelihood his personal financial records could “be used in an inappropriate or malicious manner for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with these proceedings

Bad weather on Thanksgiving week can be stressful in the best of circumstances. But this week’s outbreak of TV weather hysteria was a sight to behold. For days on end, even Trump news was booted from the top of the network evening newscasts by dire warnings of the “triple storm danger” heading across the country and the “holiday travel nightmare” likely to result. The reports hit all the usual TV-weather bases: shots of skidding cars and chugging snowplows; airport scenes of passengers stranded by flight delays; Al Roker bounding among the weather maps as though he were plotting a military operation. And, as always, the alarming statistics:

Hillary Clinton Is not

As one can readily see, Hillary Clinton has been unable to recover from having lost the 2016 presidential election -- a self-inflicted wound that she will never cop to. Or, possibly, an act of divine intervention. She has come up with well over a dozen reasons for her defeat -- every one but the real one, i.e. she is a loser -- not just a sore loser, but a total loser. She is incredibly incompetent, fundamentally dishonest, and criminally corrupt, and these are her good qualities. In addition, she is bereft of a trace of integrity or character, has absolutely no judgment, and is devoid of people skills

Sen. Kamala Harris’ once-promising White House bid is rapidly unraveling — with her outgoing state operations director slamming the treatment of staff in a blistering resignation letter that claims “morale has never been lower,” a new report reveals. Facing dwindling funds and tumbling polling numbers, the 55-year-old in recent weeks has laid-off swathes of staff in the run-up to the Iowa and New Hampshire primaries in a bid to revive her struggling 2020 bid. But a New York Times investigation published Friday alleges the Harris campaign is internally imploding. Former and current campaign staff have broken ranks to claim Harris and her closest advisers lack focus

The 2019 Egg Bowl ended in absolute chaos. When Ole Miss scored with four seconds remaining in regulation, the game looked destined for overtime. That was until Rebels wideout Elijah Moore got a little too frisky when celebrating his touchdown that cut Mississippi State’s lead to 21-20. pic.twitter.com/jmXgBlxDPO — Yahoo Sports College Football (@YahooSportsCFB) November 29, 2019 Yes, that is Moore crawling on the turf and pretending to pee like a dog (in homage to DK Metcalf) — a celebration that drew a 15-yard penalty.

Two of the nation’s last three presidents won the presidency in the Electoral College, even though they lost the popular vote nationwide. In 2000, Al Gore outpolled George W. Bush by more than 540,000 votes but lost in the Electoral College, 271–266. Sixteen years later, Hillary Clinton tallied almost 3 million more votes than Donald Trump but lost decisively in the Electoral College, 306–232. And, as a recent New York Times poll suggested, the 2020 election could very well again deliver the presidency to the loser of the popular vote.

It's always entertaining when famous actors or singers think that we -- normal people -- are curious to know their political views. I mean, we all know that members of Hollywood are generally radically liberal. If they take a political position, it's going to be in favor of abortion, against "climate change," or -- of course -- passionately anti-Trump. Case in point, this op-ed written by actor Robert Redford for NBC News. "We’re up against a crisis I never thought I’d see in my lifetime." Namely: "A dictator-like attack by President Donald Trump on everything this country stands for. As last week’s impeachment hearings made clear, our shared tolerance

Left-wing actress and activist Jane Fonda spent the Friday after Thanksgiving doing what she has done every Friday for the past eight weeks — protesting climate change. But this time, she also took aim at the agriculture and cattle industries. The Hollywood star donned her signature red overcoat to lead her eighth consecutive “Fire Drill Friday” demonstration in Washington, DC, where 38 people were arrested. Fonda wasn’t among those detained but the actress still made a ruckus, joining fellow protestors in front of the Capitol Building to demand the end to fossil fuels.

Former Vice President Joe Biden on Saturday launched his “No Malarkey” bus tour in Iowa, part of a bid to regain momentum among the state’s voters ahead of the nation’s first presidential caucuses. The frontrunner’s eight-day bus tour is part of an effort to sharpen his pitch before the Feb. 3 caucuses as polls have shown Biden slipping in the first-in-the-nation state. The tour will cover 18 counties and is a play on one of Biden’s most well-known phrases. Perhaps most notably it was used in his 2012 vice-presidential debate with then GOP VP hopeful Paul Ryan, when he told his rival that his criticism of the Obama administration’s foreign policy
