for censure over impeachment

On July 25, 2019, President Donald Trump picked up the phone in the White House residence and attempted to shake down a foreign leader.
Trump’s language was elliptical and soft, not direct and threatening, but his intentions were clear: He wanted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to “do us a favor.” That was Trump’s entree to his improper, indecent requests that Zelenskiy’s government undertake two investigations that would benefit Trump politically.
Trump didn’t explain his motives, which of course were self-serving. First, he asked Zelenskiy to “find out what happened” with Ukraine’s supposed meddling, alongside Russia, in the 2016 U.S. election. Then there was Trump’s “other thing”: his desire that Ukraine “look into”

Democrats have to vote on censure? Censure? Isn't that what they do everyday, aided by their Democrat partners in the broadcast media?

I think you are confusing censure with censor #2. But maybe it was sarcasm.

The Kool Aid runs deep in this one. Too bad the polls don’t agree with all the assumptions on the article.

If the Dems censure Trump, the investigation into the Biden's ties with Burisma is all but guarenteed. This will end up biting the Dems in their posteriors

The "censure" blabber from the media is becoming more prevalent. Either the press sees the handwriting on the wall and is offering the dems a way out or the dems are ordering the media to make censure acceptable to their base.

I couldn’t get past the first paragraph. I came across the oft repeated claim that Trump’s interest in investigating Biden/Burisma and Ukraine involvement in Russia hoax was entirely self serving. Why is it so hard for them to understand that there is corruption in Ukraine (which they have admitted at times) and there are obvious suspicions that Dems and Biden was knee deep in it? Also, why is it so hard for them to understand that taxpayers don’t want to send money to a corrupt country where the money will be misused for more corruption? How is this entirely self serving? Im so sick of garbage people “journalists”.

Sure is a whole lotta back-tracking going on on the left these last few days. Seems like they finally figured out what the rest of us have known for months - that the only thing that impeachment will do is destroy them and insure PDT’s election.

"On July 25, 2019, President Donald Trump picked up the phone in the White House residence and attempted to shake down a foreign leader." Repeating this over and over does NOT make it so. This did not happen.

i.e. Nancy doesn't have the votes..And why not? Not because a few Democrat Congresspersons suddenly gained principles (that will never happen) but because a few are afraid to vote for impeachment based on their internal polls showing that too many of their constituents aren't buying Schiff's (totally devoid of facts or due process) "Intelligence" Committee impeachment inquiry hearings. But Nancy has to satisfy the raving nutcases in the Dems' base who will accept nothing short of impeachment, so having the Dems in the media calling for censure is the Dems' trial balloon, to see how well it will poll with the rabid Leftist voters..

Agree w/ #8. A quick search showed 4 other publications now promoting 'Censure'. The new talking points must be going out. The media is terrified of having to cover a Senate trial where they cannot control the narrative.

The editorial is just more Bull Schiff.
I doubt the Tribune actually read the transcript, or listened to the Schiff show when Republicans were asking questions, and elicited actual testimony that wasn't the storyline the Democrats were trying to tell.
And, they likely have not pushed for release of the other transcripts from those who testified and weren't called to testify.

Is 'Editorial' a nom de plume for Adam Schiff? This sounds like something he'd write.

If they aren't convinced that Trump should be impeached they might also want to wait until the Senate Judiciary Committee completes its inquiry into the firing of the Ukrainian prosecutor by Joe Biden. If that exonerates Biden they would have a case but if there really was a corrupt payoff to protect Burisma they would be censuring the President for enforcing the laws of the country. That would be like prosecuting ICE agents for deporting illegal aliens.

I remember when Chicago papers kinda stood up for good, honest government and would occasionally "out" the crooks. Or maybe that was just Mike Ryoko, God rest his soul.

Well, I'm certainly happy to hear that Chicago politicians never call anyone up and ask for favors, in order to benefit politically. That would just be wrong, and the Chicago Tribune is just shocked to hear that such things are going on. They would certainly tell us about it if such was the case, because such things are just improper and indecent.
Then, after 3 years of being accused of working with the Russians to influence the last election, if President Trump asked the Ukrainian President to look in to it, the Tribune not only knows his intentions, but also his motives, which "of course were self-serving." I suppose the demoncrats didn't benefit politically by making any of those accusations, did they? The motives of leftists are always pure and for the public good (if you know what is good for you).
Man, these lefty propaganda rags sure know how to turn every fact around and divert attention away from the real crimes taking place right under the local yokels faces. Their city is the crime and corruption capital of the nation, but they are shocked, shocked by the improper and indecent requests of President Trump to investigate actual corruption.

In the entire history of the USA no President has ever been impeached and removed from office by Congress. The Democrat newspaper forgot that almost all politicians use the fact that they are in public office to expand their monitory and personal political advantage and gain. There is no evidence that President Trump has done that, and instead Trump gives all his presidential salary to worthy causes, his last donation was to fight opioid abuse. Yet the Democrats want to remove Trump from office for “maybe” requesting in colloquial terms during a telephone call that suspected felonious criminal behavior in a country, known to be corrupt, that has and is receiving large amounts of US foreign aid money be investigated.
If the Biden’s have not perpetrated large scale international corruption, some of which may well involve laundered US foreign aid monies, there will not be any evidence (dirt) out there relating to such criminal activities. The Mueller report clearly showed that. So what are the Democrats and the Bidens worrying about?
