In the aftermath of a recent Florida self-defense shooting, female gun owners argued that the AR-15 provides specific advantages to women for home defense, vehemently rejecting the views of gun-control activists who insist the firearm is unnecessary.
Speaking with the Washington Free Beacon on Friday, five female firearm owners and advocates said the AR-15 platform offers several features that are ideal for women specifically. Robyn M. Sandoval, executive director of A Girl & A Gun Women's Shooting League, said the rifle is both more effective and safer for female shooters.

They make it sound like being a woman is some kind of handicap. Not true. They can learn to shoot anything, and their eye/hand co-ordination is superior to men, so less practice is required to be good.
Mrs C doesn't shoot rifle very often, but when she does its usually her 30/30 Winchester or her 8mm Mauser. I dont think she has ever fired my AR. As to home protection, the AR is not my first choice because of overpenetration, but it IS my choice to make. Not theirs.
We dont need to make excuses foor owning ARs. We have The Constitution.

Excellent gun for a woman. It is a .22 (.223) with enough powder to blast the lead out of the barrel at 3,000 feet per second. Very little kick due to the construction of the firearm. Try shooting a .45 or even 9 Mil pistol. Kicks like a mule and at 65 years old my hands are getting iffy for the Glock .45. Then pick up a 12 gauge shotgun and it will knock you over if you are small and don't know what to expect! Expect the AR to be VERY loud too! The crack comes because the bullet exits the barrel above the speed of sound and breaks the sound barrier!

I believe in a woman's right to choose. . . . how to defend herself.
Ask your liberal friends if they also believe.

Those who oppose AR15 designs know all of that, but they hate women. They want to allow grown men to compete in athletic competitions designed for high school girls. They prefer lowering the age of consent substantially. They argue the girls enslaved by Epstein lied. They want unrestricted abortion. And, they don't want women to be able to put up physical defense against rapists and others who attack women.
Just look at the Governor of Virginia. He supports rapists above their accusers (or he'd pushed to get rid of his Attorney General, an accused serial rapist), and he supports post partem child killing.

Light, low recoil, adjustable stock length to fit women's smaller size, essentially infinitely customizable in barrel, handguard, grip, sighting sytem - red dot, laser, iron sights, or all three, different triggers. Reliable and hits with much more power than any handgun. The standard magazine is 30 rounds.
It is a popular self defense weapon for many good reasons.
The antigun folks want to make it illegal because it is effective, and would be a good gun in a real 2nd Amendment situation, too.

I'm not a fan of the overhyped AR-15 or the .22 caliber round. I have only handled one in 1968 in Army basic training and never fired one since. There are secret to selection of a self defense weapon that every nation with a military knows, caliber choices like NATO rounds. That's ammunition that will cross over to another firearm or one that the 'enemy' might use. Battlefield savvy is everything you need to know. There are many communist block weapons on the market (AK-47s) and an abundance of ammunition. Cheap and ammunition is everywhere so in a situation you can pick the pockets of a fallen enemy and use his ammunition. I would opt for anything that fires the 7.62x39 round versus the .223. The best kept secret in the firearm rifle industry is the .30 caliber (my favorite bullet weight) which fires the 7.62x39, the most prevalent round of 'the enemy' is the Ruger Mini 30. The platform for this rifle is the M-14 .308 caliber US rifle since the Korean War when it replaced the M-1 Garand. With active (electronic/battery) sight system it's easy to shoot in darkness. My wife (70 years old) can handle the firearm and 9mm handgun proficiently so learn your choice in a firearm and don't be a victim.

Am not an expert on firearms. Does Quid Pro Joe know that the classical double barrel shotgun with the left right alignment is harder to find than an honest demoncrap? Most "double barrel" shotguns today are over and under and cost over $ 1k. I wouldn't use a shotgun for home defense because if I fired it inside my house I'd have a hole in the wall that a moose could walk in. With an AR 15 or any other kind of rifle if you miss your target the bullet is going a long way and might hit an innocent bystander. I'd rather die myself than hurt an innocent person. My home defense weapons are my 357 Magnum revolver and my obnoxious personality.

#9, actually, your .357 Magnum is much more likely to exit your home than a well-chosen "frangible" AR15 round. Handgun rounds penetrate the most sheetrock on all testing. This is why most police SWAT teams have gotten rid of their 9mm submachine guns and replaced them with AR-15s with frangible ammo, to avoid overpenetration in urban entry situations.
If you choose a .223 "varmint bullet", one of the lighter weight, often hollow point, or with a plastic tip, these bullets are intended for hunting prairie dogs and other small rodents, so they are designed to expand very quickly and rapidly on a target that may only be 2-3" thick. It turns out that these bullets are still pretty effective against criminals, yet will similarly blow up on sheetrock, penetrate one wall, exit that first wall in fragments, with lower energy than an intact bullet.
Here is some good discussion of the topic.

Here is a test comparing 9mm HP to various .223, two which are the "varmint bullets". Spoiler-- the 9mm
out penetrated the .223, again. From the article: "As expected, the Nosler Ballistic Tip and Hornady V-Max projectiles started to break apart after passing through the first wall.

Also, at most indoor ranges, shotgun patterns are far smaller than most people imagine, thinking that what they saw on TV and movies is real, which it is not. At 30 ft, a large living room distance, the shotgun will have about 4-6" diameter pattern. And with small buckshot, like #4 Buck, or large birdshot, like #2, will probably penetrate less than any handgun.
Another interesting article. Things are more complex than many people think, and handguns penetrate the most compared to .223 and shotguns with birdshot or small buckshot.

I'm old fashioned I guess, but I prefer 20-round mags (composite Magpul) for my AR-15 for two reasons: 1) more maneuverable in close quarters or thick brush, and 2) easier for ammo accountability with the standard 20 round ammo packs. Nothing against 30 rounders - I have some - just prefer the 20s.

I’ve called it a chick rifle for years. Have had women friends that never shot anything before get a big grin on their face after shooting one of these.
