Impeachment Drama Is Fraught

It is painful to take issue with my blessed friend Peggy Noonan, and also painful to read both that she has effectively joined the disreputable impeachers of Donald Trump and has invoked a disingenuous argument in support of that position. Writing in the Wall Street Journal on November 2, she asserted that it is clear President Trump used his office to ask the president of Ukraine to destroy Joe Biden politically and that he used U.S. financial assistance to Ukraine as an incentive, and the withholding of it as a threat to incite such activity. And she wrote that the only remaining argument is whether that constitutes an article of impeachment

Noonan ceased to be an objective observer many years ago. Her support for the Magic Negro was a case in point. Her announcement that she has joined the never-Trump Brigade illustrates her desire to remain part of the in crowd. She has no desire to lose her never-Trump friends. She is liked by many in the Deep State. She would be an outcast, like Limbaugh, Levin, and others, were she to support DJT. Why she remains at the top of the Journal remains a mystery. There was no quid pro quo. The transcript is clear. Sorry, Peggy. Your use-by date has come.

Mr. Black is much kinder to Ms. Noonan than I would be because I believe she gives the Rinos and ruling class credibility when they are, in fact, the real problem in this country. It is the elites who have circled the wagons to protect their little fiefdom because President Trump offends them. They ignore the absolute corruption, power lust, and theft committed by their peers, both democrats and republicans, because they are in “the club” and this President wants nothing to do with their hypocrisy. He knows who has been running the country into the ground and means to stop it. While Ms. Peggy looks down her nose at Donald J. Trump, he is actually doing what the American people elected him to do. It must sting poor Peggy to know that he is accomplishing what her kind could or would not. God bless him for it. Peg and her contemporaries would let the democrats destroy this country if their leader had the approved temperament and bearing and we all know where that would get us. In other words, the American political caste system allows no outsiders regardless of their abilities. Only the ruling class is permitted to lead this country. A man of self-accomplishment and success without what they consider the proper temperament, history and decorum is disqualified. Thank goodness, the votes of people who hold this belief carry no more weight than any deplorable in flyover country and we are legion.

I suspect Noonan's vitriol stems from the fact that the Trump Administration apparently has no use for her. Woman scorned, and all that.

Nicely done # 3. But in addition to temperament, decorum etc., I believe his major flaw is his AGENDA and the fact he has exposed the corruption the Deep State/RINOS have created. I think I’ve known it all along. But it became an accepted way of life, and I couldn’t see any way to fix it. Until DJT. Only thing is: the more they hate him, the more we love and support him.. Pegs and her buds are dead to me and now serve no useful purpose other than to continually show how they duped me all these years.

I have an idea. From now on, when Noonan or any of the other anti-Trumpers or their media sycophants make accusations, Trump should STOP trying to defend himself. Their modus operandi has been to make dishonest accusations and then when Trump tries to defend himself they just change to a new, baseless accusation. They're succeeding in forcing him to be on the defense all the time. And he keeps taking the bait. Instead, he should just look the camera straight in the eye and say, "Look. I'm just trying as hard as I can to clean up all the corruption in Washington. I never had any clue how bad it is." Period. End of discussion. He should keep the focus right there with HIM on the offense. BOTH sides agree we have a corrupted Deep State, so in this area he really does have bipartisan support. When new accusations are made he should simply turn it around and say, "See? Other fake accusation to divert your attention from my attempts to expose the corruption." Unfortunately he lets himself be goaded into a defensive position. I think his fight-back would be more effective if he portrayed himself as Captain America, singlehandedly taking on the evil inside the Beltway. He's got to STOP defending himself.

Nobody in Ukraine or the USA would be able to find legitimate “Dirt” or wrong-doing relating to Joe Biden and his son if there is no actual Dirt” to be found. That is unless the “Dirt” is manufactured, but that’s what the Obama Administration, the Hillary Clinton crew, the leftist and liberal Democrats, with help from foreign intelligence operatives, along with their fake news media allies are suspected of doing to President Trump during the run up tp the 2016 election, and after he assumed office. Clearly the Congressional Democrats are trying to project on Trump that past failed Democrat created plan without any credible evidence. Remember Trump asked the Ukrainians to cooperate with the US Attorney General on an official US criminal investigation relating to suspected politically based corrupt activities involving the shadowy Democrat entity known as “Crowd Strike” relating to the 2016 election that occurred both in Ukraine and the USA. There is nothing wrong with such a presidential request. If the Bidens were not involved in any wrongdoing they have nothing to worry about.

Sometimes I just shake my head. It is possible to be someone’s friend for a long time, to even admire some of their qualities, without agreeing with their politics or their faulty take on history. Black does not let his feelings for his “blessed friend” get in the way of criticizing her roundly for for her attitude toward the Trump impeachment fiasco. After this essay, Peggy may decide she doesn’t want to be Conrad’s friend... I am not about to toss Conrad Black in the waste bin because he called Peggy Noonan his friend. He clearly does not agree with her… In fact he really takes her to the woodshed, in some detail, over her comments, particularly her pathetic analogy between FDR’s sending ships to the UK prior to the Pearl Harbor attack and the Ukraine phone call. I wonder how many read these articles. And how many, having read them, really don’t understand what the writer is saying...

For those who haven’t read the essay, here is what Black thinks may be eating Noonan: Peggy Noonan rose to prominence when her marvelous English composition and phrase-making as President Ronald Reagan’s chief speechwriter united with that president’s almost hypnotic powers as an orator. We are all unlicenced psychiatrists and I have surmised that this president’s less gentlemanly, less kindly, and less philosophical traits have contrasted so vividly with her warm recollections of her close collaboration with President Reagan that this may have exacerbated her disenchantment with the incumbent. That would be understandable, but I had hoped that her recollections of how quickly much of the media assaulted President Reagan over the Iran-Contra affair and predicted, with some relish, that his administration would disintegrate, would cause her to have a little sympathy with this president over the Ukraine events, which on what we know, are less legally controversial and much less embarrassing to the president than the matter of cycling aid to the Nicaraguan Contras via Israel and Iran in contravention of pertinent legislation was to President Reagan.

Here we are in the midst of a once-in-a-half-century pandemic, with the economy flattened, millions of people unemployed, and unrest on the streets of our cities. And President-elect Joe Biden says that one of his highest priorities as president will be to reenter the Paris climate accord. President Trump kept his "put America first" promise and pulled the United States out of this Obama-era treaty. Biden wants us back in. Why? Paris is an unmitigated failure. You don't have to take my word for it. National Geographic, a supporter of climate change action, recently ran the numbers and admitted in its recent headline: "Most countries aren't hitting 2030 climate goals."

Teachers unions have been instrumental in keeping American schools online during the pandemic. But some have escalated their positions on reopening to include an array of social justice demands. A set of demands from teachers unions in July, which addressed how to safely reopen schools amid a pandemic, was criticized by The Wall Street Journal editorial board as “political extortion.” The board argued that unions were taking advantage of a health crisis to advance their own ideological agendas and to eliminate competition from charter schools.

It reminds me of that old saying which I think was from Einstein, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.” Polling, at least the old-school style, is over. President Trump granted a pardon to Michael Flynn, his former national-security adviser, today. Flynn had pled guilty to lying to FBI agents about conversations, during the 2016 transition, with the Russian ambassador about sanctions. Flynn’s pardon should bring to an end one gross violation of the Constitution’s separation of powers, even as it gives rise to groundless accusations of another. Although Flynn had pled guilty, the circumstances of the case had raised serious concerns about whether the government had proceeded properly. The FBI, for example, questioned Flynn even though it did not appear he had violated any law. In May, Attorney General William Barr ordered the case dropped.

There’s something unattractive about a mature woman marrying into the British Royal family with one of the world’s most expensive weddings, hanging out with the Queen, living in insane luxury…and then whining non-stop about the horror of her life. There’s something even less appealing when that woman accuses the Royal family of race hatred.
