Trump without the Trumpiness
would win reelection in a landslide

A thought experiment: Imagine that the president of the United States was a man named Ronald Stump, not Donald Trump. Suppose he was known, before reaching the Oval Office, for delivering thoughtful remarks at the Council on Foreign Relations, rather than for starring in a cartoonish "reality" TV show. Picture him communicating through the White House press office instead of an inflammatory Twitter feed, and cool rather than fiery, and careful as opposed to rash.
Now give this anti-Trump, this Ronald Stump, the same record on which to run for reelection as our real-life President Trump. Give him a persistently strong stock market, record-low unemployment,

You are so out of touch, Von Drehle. What you characterize as his “quirkiness" is what we see as his being authentic, a real person, a very successful man who set all that aside (and lost great amount of money in the process) and is a patriot, working to make our country a better place. A person who cuts through the Beltway bee-ess and gets to the heart of the problem - with possible solutions - while others are looking for their seatbelts.
The usual? What you are used to, there in your Beltway Bubble? A politician, an empty suit, stamped out with a cookie cutter or put together from a kit. A self-interested creature who wants to feed at the WH trough. Or a crazy like Hillary. Or any of the midgets in the Dem candidate bus.
Go lie down, Von Drehle, and get your head straight. As it is, you might as well be on another planet...

Is Von Drehle another intern, fresh out of a NE college? He seems to have missed the fact that many of the issues and policy changes that President Trump has campaigned on and put into effect since his election (those are promises kept, Von Drehle) were the same things he has talked about and advocated for decades… Knock off your obsession with The Apprentice. Many of us never even saw that program, and it was certainly not “cartoonish”.
Your bias is showing.

What a moronic opinion from VonDribble. Gee, if he were just somebody else, he'd be really popular. We tried somebody else and we got friggin' McCain and Romney. That sure worked out well, didn't it? Nobody, and I mean NOBODY could have beaten the bush, clinton and DC establishment machines except for Trump and his Trumpiness. His only friends (except for a couple [literally] US Reps) are the people who voted for him in 2016, and who love his Trumpiness.

Imagine for a moment that far leftist Washington Post actually had the best interests of the nation in mind , rather than the protection and expansion of the corrupt Deep State.......
........Naah... I can't do it. I like a good fantasy, but just can't get my mind to suspend reality quite that far.

Nitwit you don't get it. The reason he won in the first place was because he wasn't that creep you describe. Every other politician is which is why you hate him, and why the people love him. He will win in a landslide because he doesn't hold boring meetings with the council of foreign relations. He talks to the folks at rowdy campaign rallies, he stops to admire a baby in the middle of a speech in front of 10,000 people, he is not the polished phony baloney good time jerk that you love. He is the rough and ready fighter who will stand up to all you pansies who wish for some fantasy man who never existed and if he did he would have been crushed.

None of this is important! We shouldn't care what the Papers or the Networks say. I think we should WATCH the Rallys. If Trump's crowds grow, we're good! I think they will. Also, watch the Donations to Trump and the RNC. Right now, they're through the Roof! If that continues, we're good! Polls don't matter to me and neither do the crazy news articles. Trump is going to win again and we're going to take back the House as well. People are NOT stupid. They see what is happening in Congress and I'm sure they've had it, just like I have! There is going to be a price to pay for what Nancy and Schiff have tried to pull over on the American People! The Democrats were given a chance at running the House, and they Blew it, Bigley!

Trump without the Trumpiness would not have won the GOP nomination or defeated the Duchess of Franzia.

Trump is to politics as Muhammad Ali was to sports. Would Ali have been the same if he had been a polite and proper sportsman? He was the greatest and he had the nerve to tell you that without self deprecation or humility. Trump built and lost and rebuilt a real estate empire before he ever turned his leadership talents to politics. He is a greater man than any of his detractors and they hate him for it.

I like his Trumpiness. It is very effective, and you can that, tell bc of the way the Left hates him fighting back and calling them liars, which they are. The left lies for power, they lie and lie and lie, and then disappoint the poor. It works until someone calls them Liars. I Heart Trump.

Trump, with his Trumpiness in all its glory will win in a landslide. Has the enemedia checked out his fund raising over the last couple of months vs the demonrats’ fundraising. Impeachment will guarantee a landslide. They think 2016 was bad? Just wait.

We don't need your vote, David. We like Trump the way he is. That's why he gets the votes and that's why he WILL win in a landslide. Go back to your bubble.

Drehle, you idiot ... the hyper-super-opposition is due to the Federal Judiciary. The left cannot let POTUS install a conservative super majority on the SCOTUS and most Circuits if not all of them including the 9th. The left would impeach Obama or Jesus Christ if they were doing the same thing as what Trump is doing to the judiciary. This and only this is the driving force behind the constant attacks since election night 11/8/2016.
