DETROIT — “I'm deeply honored to have come to the Congress in 1965,” and it was an honor that would make him the longest-serving African American congressman in history. He celebrated many victories in his lifetime. John James Conyers, Jr. was born in Highland Park on May 16, 1929. He graduated from Detroit’s Northwestern High School, served in the Korean War and went on to law school.

October has been a tough month on current and past sleazy African-American Congresscritters. May they rest in peace.

True #1, but it's been a good month for those of us that don't care for racists, white or black.

Conyers hated the military, apparently he felt that all money going to the military should be handed out to black, inner city folks instead. He got on a military subcommittee many decades ago and did his best for his whole career to stop all spending on all military items.
A thoroughly despicable man, the world is a better place.

The grim reaper is stalking the halls of Congress. There are more who will have an appointment with him in the future.

As long as Maxine stays away from the crucifix, garlic, sunlight and wooden stakes, she could go on forever. Blacula...BWAAAAA!

If I can't say something nice, etc. etc. William Shakespeare had one of his characters say this: ''The evil that men do lives after then; the good is oft interred with their bones.''
Anyone else remember Wilbur Mills (D-AR) and his Fanne Foxe? It was 1977.

His marriage to the criminal city councilwoman, Monica, must have made his life on earth somewhat hellish. Miss Congeniality, she was not. In case you have forgotten what a harridan she is, here she is at her, um, best. . . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqOSNI7l0bQ

Fifty years in Congress. He performed miracles for the citizens of Detroit. Look at how much better off they are now than they were in 1965.
1965 population = 1,670,144
2015 population = 678, 250
Population drop = 40.6%
RIP Conyers.

I lived in Detroit under Conyers and Coleman Young. I watched Detroit go from a vibrant economy to a hell hole that even the police didn't want to patrol. I remember as a kid in the 50s going to the FisherTheatre, Ford Rotunda and Belle Isle, it was a vibrant city back then! Then the Dems took over in the 60s... I moved to Texas in the early 80s where my field of engineering was thriving and have never looked back. It's a shame to see such destruction of a city and its people.
