Former FBI Director James Comey says he will move to New Zeland if President Trump wins reelection. But depending on the report by Inspector General Michael Horowitz, Comey may not be traveling anywhere at all. The Department of Justice announced last week that it was opening a criminal investigation into the origins of the Russia investigation. At Politicon 2019 in Nashville on Saturday, during a "conversation" with Never Trumper MSNBC host Nicole Wallace, Comey said, "Our leaders must reflect the glue that holds us together. Democrats deliberately omitted President Donald Trump from their congratulations Sunday on the successful raid that killed Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, leader of the so-called “Islamic State” (ISIS). But Trump had congratulated then-President Barack Obama in May 2011 when he announced the raid that killed Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. Amid reports that President Donald Trump did not inform House Speaker Nancy Pelosi beforehand on the top-secret raid by U.S. forces that resulted in the death of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, the speaker released a statement that rained on Trump’s parade. While the president celebrated bringing “the world’s number one terrorist leader to justice,” the California Democrat snubbed Trump in saying al-Baghdadi’s death “does not mean the death of ISIS.” Of course, it took her two and a half hours to come up with a response — a lifetime in today’s social media age.

It’s proving rather difficult for some in the political world to assign credit where it’s due on the death of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. Sunday morning, the White House confirmed that al-Baghdadi, one of the world’s most wanted terrorists, was killed in a daring raid by United States Special Forces — an operation that has been weeks in planning. In a press conference, President Donald Trump spoke about al-Baghdadi’s final moments, and hammered home that his administration had made capturing or eliminating al-Baghdadi a top priority.“He was a sick and depraved man and now he’s gone,” Trump said.

Almost immediately, the left began to downplay and besmirch the death of ISIS leader al Baghdadi. Democrats and the media have even questioned why Democrats weren't informed of the raid. Nothing was off-limits. Pete Souza, the former official White House photographer under Barack Obama, took to Twitter to suggest that the photos released by the White House of the Situation Room during the raid were staged. The quip among Jewish Republicans about President Obama’s trafficking with anti-Semites was that he was so popular with American Jews that had he nuked Tel Aviv, he would have lost no more than 30% of the Jewish vote. The affinity for American Jews for the Democrat Party has long been a political curiosity. The distinguished essayist Milton Himmelfarb observed that in America, Jews had attained the socioeconomic status of Episcopalians, but for some reason they continued to vote like Puerto Ricans. Nothing seems to dissolve the sinew that ties Jews to the Democrats. President Obama’s association with the anti-Semitic Rev. Jeremiah Wright brought a collective yawn.
