The United States has Turkey floored, economically. It doesn't take much pressure to get the Turks' attention. That's why Turkey is making nice. They have no choice. Eisenhower used the same tactic in 1956 with Britain and France. They were warring on Egypt over the Suez Canal. The economic sanctions he threatened were enough for them to call the whole thing off. FDR used a similar tactic with the Japanese, cutting off their oil imports from the U.S., and forcing them to either back off in China or go to war. They unwisely chose war. Bad decision.

In dealing with the players in the Northern Syria region, President Trump is not dealing with a meeting of precise surgeons, so it will take sometime to get those warring elements to actually enter into a ceasefire that appears to be Trump’s immediate objective. Obviously the Turkish long-term objective is to create a zone along the Syrian side of their border cleared of Kurdish elements who the Turks consider to be terrorists. In that zone the Turks intend to resettle as many as possible of the three and a half million Syrian refugees now in Turkey. In that respect, Turkey has suggested that if their refugee resettlement plan does not work out that they could allow those millions of Muslim refugees to leave Turkey and enter the European Union countries. Some call that ethnic cleansing. The Kurd’s dream is to carve out for themselves a new Kurdistan country out of the current land mass that is now within the boundaries of Iraq, Syria and Turkey and have been fighting for that to happen since after the First World War ended a hundred years ago. Of course those countries don’t want to give up any of their land to the Kurds. Since some of the Kurds helped the USA on the ground to defeat ISIS some say that means that the USA must always stand by those Kurds, now and in the future, even if it means that the USA becomes involved in a shooting war against Turkey a NATO country. Clearly this is another very complicated and endless Middle East War that Barack Obama got the USA involved in by deploying US soldiers to the Syrian-Turkish border. By essentially throwing a hand grenade into that situation by withdrawing a small number of US troops after Turkey advised him that they intended to invade Northern Syria through US military positions, and would not be deterred, Trump is taking action to cause a settlement to be reached among the involved entities, if that is possible, and to certainly get the USA out of that quagmire as he promised to do when he campaigned for the Presidency.

A nation governed by princelings 2 replies

We should be very grateful to the Democrats. They give us the opportunity to expand our vocabularies. In recent weeks, we have heard the word "princeling." The cocaine-using Hunter Biden, who gets typical salaries of $50,000 per month, is called a princeling. One definition of princeling is "a petty or insignificant prince." It was first used to refer to the sons of powerful rulers in China. Unfortunately, we now have several corrupt countries with princelings. In Hunter Biden's case, his father was the vice president of the United States. Even though the vice president officially has very little power,

Hillary Clinton was in the news this week for her odd feud with 2020 presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard, a Democratic member of Congress from Hawaii. Clinton accused Gabbard of being a “Russian asset” who is being groomed by the Kremlin to defect from the Democratic Party and run as a third-party candidate. The two-time presidential candidate claims Gabbard would then fulfill the same spoiler role as Green Party candidate Jill Stein did in 2016, diverting votes from the Democratic nominee. This, Clinton explained, would help President Trump’s reelection. There is no evidence to support Clinton’s completely fanciful charge, and Gabbard has said she will not run as a third-party candidate.

As week four of the impeachment drama draws to a close we are left with enough changing narratives, secret hearings, and meme-worthy tantrums to fill an entire season of “Gossip Girl.” Except, this is Congress, so let’s not insult the writers of “Gossip Girl.” Despite the fact that support for impeachment is slowly dropping, and 60 percent of voters say they’d rather Congress focus on actual problems facing Americans, Democrats are still hell-bent on making a mockery of the impeachment process. They are led by U.S. Representative Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), chairman of the House Intelligence Committee. In ordinary impeachment probes, the inquiry would be led by the House Judiciary Committee.

Could 'Tulsi' maybe be Sanskrit for 'Dorothy'? Hawaiian presidential candidate, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, is racking up quite a reputation for melting down the political scene's evil old hags. Following a creepy frontal attack from embittered former presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton, claiming that Republicans were 'grooming' Gabbard to be a third-party candidate and Gabbard was a Russian agent all along, Tulsi fired back: [tweets] Whoa. Truth hurts. And it's not her first time uttering it. Gabbard's blast at Hillary recalls the one she delivered to Sen. Kamala Harris at the second Democratic debate: [video]

With the Idiot Left marching toward impeachment over nothing, the idea apparently is to make it okay to kick out a president just because you don't like him. A president then becomes nothing special, no big deal, no longer a force in the power politics of Washington. He can handle the glossy, just-for-show stuff like state dinners and handing out Medals of Freedom, but real power will reside down in the bowels of the permanent administrative bodies of the Deep State. Actually, as has been explained in a number of places, Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats don't want a real "impeachment process

I am fortunate to be on the Board of Directors of a very successful corporation. We hired a new CEO a few years ago to turn our company around from the results of poor management by the previous CEO. He has done so. He had been a successful manager most of his life, although in a separate industry, so we gave took a chance and hired him. He took stock of what was wrong and what was right with our company, which he had admired for many years, and went on from there. As a result, we have been able to recall workers, give raises to our workers,

Secrecy has always been a pretty effective incubator for corruption, and House Intelligence Committee chairman Adam Schiff's sneaky, secretive "hearings" on impeaching the president, literally held in a dank Capitol basement outside public scrutiny, are producing it in abundance. Schiff's secrecy act thus far not only shuts out the public, but excludes relevant opposition members of Congress from so much as listening to this Schiff show. Congressmen from the "wrong" party, such as Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona, an interested party with a right to be there as a member of the House Judiciary Committee if anyone does, have just about literally been kicked out.

Schiff Is Getting Nervous 19 replies

House Intelligence Committee chairman Adam Schiff, a California Democrat, stands at the center of the impeachment of the president scam. And as word gets out about his real game and how he got it — through a spying operation aimed at the White House that he directed, he's starting to get weirdly wobbly. Two instances just from the weekend are starting to stand out. First, in stark contrast to the big hullabaloo he made about hearing from the so-called "whistleblower" in Congress ahead of the planned Trump execution, Schiff suddenly doesn't think the whistleblower is so very, very necessary to testify at his hearings at all:

News broke yesterday morning that Hunter Biden has officially stepped down from the board of directors of a Chinese-backed private equity company. Additionally, he made a public promise that if his father, Joe Biden, wins the presidency, he will "forego all foreign work." Quite a lot to unpack here. Firstly, he's missing the point entirely. While President Trump's Ukraine phone call shined a bright light on Joe and Hunter Biden's corruption, the outrage was never about him working for a foreign company. It was about how he got those positions in the first place — with his father's power and status in the U.S. government.

Authorities in Southern Mexico detained hundreds of African, Caribbean and Central American migrants who were heading north Sunday as part of an up to 2,000-person caravan aiming to reach the United States. The group set out before sunrise Saturday from the town of Tapachula, Mexico, where many had been marooned for months unsuccessfully trying to get transit visas. They carried heavy backpacks, babies and parcels on their heads. Just before dusk, after having trudged more than 20 miles north, they were surrounded by hundreds of National Guard agents and police who persuaded the exhausted migrants to board vans back to Tapachula.

No, this is not from the Babylon Bee. It actually comes from the Oprah Winfrey Network, and a segment featuring Professor Britney Cooper, who sports a PhD from Emory University and who currently is an associate professor in the Department of Women’s and Gender Studies at Rutgers University. With that sort of background, perhaps it isn’t surprising to eternalize blame for obesity on racism and seem to indict President Trump for it. (snip) While this is all funny, it is also tragic. Obesity is unhealthy and unhappy to endure. Blaming others doesn’t ever lead to change in a positive direction.

The investigation, which covered the 33,000 emails Clinton provided for review, found 91 "valid violations" attributable to 38 individuals, some of whom may face disciplinary action. Another 497 violations could not be tied to any specific person. A nine-page unclassified report was sent to Iowa Republican Sen.
