Unlike the vile, reprehensible dems who flock to social media to exult over the death of a perceived enemy (see: Scalia, et al.) I take no particular joy in his passing. Besides, there's always the possibility that whoever fills his seat could be worse.

Death comes to all of us regardless of whatever political persuasion we hold dear. How a person lives and how much good they do for others following the example of Our Lord should be an example to others. So let it be with Elijah. All this division among different groups, factions, and political concerns ALL ends in Death, and things go on without us. At moments like this, it should remind us to take stock of the eternal things and to soberly think of our own thoughts and motives and whether or not they are right and honorable in spreading God's love to others.

Picking up on #11's point, there's a cemetery in Switzerland with a sign at the entrance. The sign says "Voici l'égalité." "Here is equality." Politics stops at the gate. Representative Cummings was an American I disagreed with. Now he is no longer. I wish peace and comfort for his family.

He was that sick and still serving in the Congress! It's a shame that they won't give up power for the good of their constituents or the nation, and their power has to be pried from their cold dead hands. And, it's a shame that they have to die for us to get them out of office; otherwise, they'd serve for 40-50 years. Our founding fathers never wanted this for US. The expectation was that we'd have citizens who would serve a term then return to regular life. Service in Congress was not supposed to be a career with elite benefits.

I am, like most ldotters, a political junkie, and I follow the news closely. Yet I do not remember seeing Cunnings shown in any video or news story, using a scooter to get around, or any other indication of failing health. It reminds me of the way the media conspired to hide any photos or film of FDR in a wheel chair. I have questions about his replacement, his back child support, and his wife. Will he be replaced by the former mayor of Baltimore? Or the Baltimore former DA? It is unlikely that Mrs. Cummings would get elected, since she will be going to prison for her fake charity, (Unless she gets an OJ jury.)

Was thinking along the same line as #21. The left will blame Trump and the Russians, demand an investigation, and scream impeach the entire time. If Cummings had health problems, why didn't he step down and spend more time with his family or spend more time working on his health problems? The only answer I can come up with is he was too greedy for his own good. Greedy for wealth. Greedy for power. Greedy for influence. These people need to know when to walk away.

If illness (including mental) was a reason for removal from Congress there would be a bunch of empty seats in the Capitol. Most of those people could not hold a real job so I have no idea why the residents of their districts vote for them. A study of voting psychology would probably find that many people simply mark a "D" or an "R" and get on the respective party "harvesting" bus to go back home, having no idea who or what they just voted for.

One of the best ways to understand a person's state of mind about politics is to ask him whether he thinks that a politician he generally disagrees with has ever done anything good. Is there one decision or policy he favors? Just one? If the answer is "no," you know you're dealing with someone who's so blinded by and obsessed with hatred that he can't possibly be taken seriously. About anything.Case in point: a Twitter conversation I had today with Doug Mataconis, who blogs at Outside The Beltway, a once respectable and much respected conservative-libertarian blog. Doug started it all by tweeting out that he has lived through 10 presidents

The Trump administration has always been an advocate for religious liberty, and on Friday they reaffirmed that commitment by proposing rolling back an Obama-era rule that denied federal funding to foster care and adoption groups that exclude LGBT parents—which would be a huge win for faith-based organizations and the First Amendment. Dogs biting humans being naturally unremarkable, any attempt to convince us to regard accounts of their biting as noteworthy events leads one to ask whether the person advancing that position is ignorant of nature, or is toying with us. By nature, instances of bureaucrats speaking ill of their elected superiors are equally unremarkable and lead us to ask the same questions. For the past month, the Democratic Party and the media (excuse the redundancy) have demanded that the American people be shocked (shocked!) by stories of multiple bureaucrats who express (choose your weapon) “concern,” “dismay,” “abhorrence,” etc. at the mode and substance of President Trump’s communication with Ukraine’s president.

Rosie O’Donnell and fiancée Elizabeth Rooney have reportedly broken up after two years together. According to RadarOnline, O’Donnell, 57, hasn’t mentioned Rooney, 34, “in a while,” and scrubbed the Boston police officer from her Instagram. Rooney also deleted O’Donnell from her social media, including a photo from Oct. 2018 showing off her engagement ring. Reps for the former “View” co-host did not return our request for comment. O’Donnell opened up about the pair’s relationship on “The Howard Stern Show” in November 2017. “I am in love,” she told Stern. “It’s the first time I’ve dated someone younger than me and

On Friday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Live,” Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) argued hurricanes, superstorms, and tornadoes were on the rise because of anthropogenic climate change. While discussing the flooding in New York State, Cuomo said, “Anyone who questions extreme weather and climate change is just delusional at this point. We have seen in the state of New York what every one has seen. We see these weather patterns that we never had before. We didn’t have hurricanes. We didn’t have superstorms. We didn’t have tornadoes. This is a storm that came up just overnight, dropped about five inches of rain, and it was literally a matter of life or death for people.”

Lynn said she was disappointed that O’Rourke, the former U.S. representative from Texas, dropped out so close to the Liberty and Justice Celebration. About 1,600 O’Rourke supporters from across the country were expected to come to the event. “I’m pretty frustrated,” said Lynn, who has been canvassing in Iowa for O’Rourke since Wednesday. Up until now, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she had the goods on President Trump and impeachment would move expeditiously. Until she didn't. Just the partisan lineup of her impeachment inquiry vote on Halloween signaled trouble, according to former House Speaker Newt Gingrich. With that her hand of cards now, now she says she wants to expand the impeachment inquiry beyond Ukraine, raising the specter of mission creep as well as long, drawn out, impeachment hearings on every topic the Democrats can scare up. According to the Hill: Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Friday it's possible that controversies beyond Ukraine could be part of the impeachment case against President Trump.

Lori Loughlin was considering entering a guilty plea after being slapped with a new bribery charge in the Operation Varsity Blues Scandal, a source close to the actress alleges. The insider made the claims to Us Weekly on Friday, asserting that the former Full House star was eventually persuaded out of the idea by her designer husband Mossimo Giannulli. The couple have now formally pleaded not guilty to the charge of conspiracy to commit federal programs bribery, after being indicted on the offense on October 22. Loughlin and Giannulli have previously plead not guilty to two other charges in relation to claims they paid $500,000 to get their two daughters,
