Latest Pelosi-Schiff impeachment ‘witch hunt’
is venomous affront to constitutional principles

The quixotic quest to impeach President Trump is not only anathema to the fundamental principles of due process, but constitutes a full-frontal assault on the procedural protections inherent in the “due process” clause of the Constitution. Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her chosen marionette, Rep. Adam Schiff, are operating in the shadows of secrecy. Their authority does not derive from the House of Representatives itself upon a full majority vote. Instead, they have commandeered impeachment power by anointing themselves as the sole determinants. They alone have chosen a “star chamber” approach to removing the president.

Everybody knows what it is. Why haven't the Senate Republicans issued any subpoenas, held any committee hearings, questioned a single witness, while our President is being framed and railroaded? Republicans control the Senate. Quit whining, quit telling us it is unconstitutional, and do something with the power you were given last election.

Yesterday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that the House of Representatives would not move forward with a vote on impeachment any time soon. The statement comes as a month of pressure has built up behind efforts to unseat the president over a phone call with the Ukrainian president. While Democrats insist, contrary to precedent, that they do not need to hold a vote, their unwillingness to hold one may show the impeachment train is skidding off the tracks. In the giddy early days of the “impeachment investigation” over Ukraine, Democrats saw the polls move in their direction. But those polls have now stabilized and in some cases crept back against impeachment.
Chicago teachers: for

Teachers in Chicago, where the median pay for educators, according to U.S. Census Bureau figures, comes in around $75,000, have called for a strike for more money, lower health care costs, smaller class sizes and to bring about the hiring of thousands of support staffers and the construction of 55 new schools — and are calling it a strike for “justice,” to boot. All while leaving 300,000 district school children in limbo. This is not about “justice.” This is not about the students. This is about teachers, guided by the promptings of union heads, getting more for themselves. It’s the second time in seven years Chicago Public Schools

For a sense of how divorced the Democrats are from mainstream America, the collapse of Tulsi Gabbard’s presidential campaign is instructive. Gabbard is a liberal who supports banning so-called assault weapons, raising the minimum wage to $15, free college tuition, etc. But her positions on abortion and health care are relatively moderate. Moreover, she is circumspect about impeachment, the only responsible position for a sitting congresswoman, and supports withdrawing American troops from Syria. Thus, her poll numbers are tanking. This is good news for Republicans. If a liberal like Tulsi Gabbard is too moderate for today’s Democrats, they have no chance of beating Trump in 2020.

The general manager of the NBA's Houston Rockets posted a "controversial" tweet that simply read: "Fight for Freedom. Stand with Hong Kong." Two days later, the NBA issued the following statement: "We recognize that the views expressed by Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey have deeply offended many of our friends and fans in China, which is regrettable. ... We have great respect for the history and culture of China and hope that sports and the NBA can be used as a unifying force to bridge cultural divides and bring people together." The Rockets' manager not only deleted the tweet but apologized to China:
Why Democrats Should Be Worried
Elizabeth Warren Is The Frontrunner

The first big takeaway from the Democratic primary debate Tuesday night was that Sen. Elizabeth Warren is now being treated like the frontrunner by her opponents. The second big takeaway is that the candidates’ angle of attack on Warren, together with her dismal performance under pressure, should have Democrats very worried that Warren could be their candidate in the general election next year. Warren was taken to task during the debate for evading basic questions about how she would pay for her signature Medicare-for-all health-care plan, and how she would implement her controversial—and constitutionally dubious—wealth tax. For a candidate who brags

There are three questions that our terrible, terrible ruling class raises whenever it opens its collective kale-hole to lecture us: 1) Does the elite think we are really, really stupid, or 2) Is the elite really, really stupid, or 3) Is the elite all of the above? The last week has been eventful, even by Age O’ Trump standards, and the one enduring takeaway is just how bad these people are at gaslighting us with inept lies that demand we disbelieve what’s happening right in front of us. But it should come as no surprise that our alleged betters are no good at gaslighting because they have proven themselves

With apologies to Margaret Atwood and a thousand other dystopian novelists, we do not have to theorize about what an American police state would look like, because we know what it looks like: the airport, that familiar totalitarian environment where Americans are disarmed, stripped of their privacy, divested of their freedom of speech, herded around like livestock, and bullied by bovine agents of “security” in a theatrical process that has an 85 percent failure rate because it isn’t designed as a security-screening protocol at all but as a jobs program for otherwise unemployable morons. Now, when I hear the words “otherwise unemployable morons,” I think of Robert Francis O’Rourke

Yesterday I celebrated the one-year anniversary of Elizabeth Warren's triumphant announcement of her genetic heritage. She took a DNA test, and she wanted everybody to know about it. She even made an announcement video to crow (no pun intended) about it. Within hours it turned into a disaster, and she ended up having to go on a humiliating apology tour, groveling to any Native American group who would listen. It was an enormous mistake, and I really enjoyed it. So did the GOP, who also made a note of the anniversary yesterday. Oddly enough, here's what you see when you go to that victorious announcement tweet now:

Judging by the spittle-flecked hatred coming his way, Attorney General Bill Barr scored a bull’s-eye on the intolerant left with his speech at Notre Dame Saturday defending religious liberty. For 50 years, he said, militant secularists have been waging deliberate war on the Judeo-Christian morality that underpins our system of government, with terrible consequences for the health of our society, including family breakdown, alienated males, drug addiction, depression and suicide. He explained that the Founding Fathers set up America as a unique “experiment” in which they trusted the people to govern themselves.

I never thought Joe Biden had a serious shot at the Democratic nomination. Even when he was in his prime, he wasn’t up to the task. And that was a long time ago. But it is the Ukraine scandal that is putting Biden’s candidacy to a perhaps-premature end. James Freeman describes the news media’s almost comical efforts to protect Biden: When President Trump turned to the Bidens and Ukraine in a speech, MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace cut off the coverage, declaring she had to protect the listeners: “We hate to do this, really, but the president isn’t telling the truth.” When Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) tried to answer

Former President George W. Bush, who led the United States into war across the Middle East, attacked President Trump on Wednesday night, saying U.S. intervention is necessary “for the sake of peace” around the globe. During a panel alongside former President Bill Clinton at the Nir School of the Heart, Bush laid into Trump for his recent decision to withdraw up to 1,000 American troops from northeast Syria — fulfilling his longheld campaign promise to bring troops home after more than a decade of war. “An isolationist United States is destabilizing around the world,” Bush said, according to the Washington Post‘s Josh Rogin.

The city of San Francisco has added 22 states with laws limiting abortion access to a blacklist that prevents city employees from traveling to those states on the city’s dime or dealing with businesses based in them. The ban will take effect on January 1, 2020. “We are standing up against states that put women’s health at risk and that are actively working to limit reproductive freedoms,” said Mayor London Breed in a press release announcing the ban. “By limiting travel and contracting with certain states, we are sending a clear message to states that disregard the right to abortion.”

I wrote here about the riot that occurred in downtown Minneapolis during and after President Trump’s rally last Thursday night. Trump supporters were assaulted, their vehicles were blocked, police officers and police horses were attacked, and so on. This video, filmed by Alpha News, shows how violent and disgusting the “protest” by liberal Democrats was: [video] You might think that in the aftermath of such appalling lawlessness, mainstream Democratic politicians would rush to denounce the violence. In fact, to my knowledge, not a single Minnesota Democrat has criticized what you saw in that video. At least one Democratic legislator, Aisha Gomez, participated in the riot, and several others

President Trump faced criticism on social media and from journalists after claiming the United States has a "shared political and cultural history" with Italy because of ancient Rome. During a press conference with Italian President Sergio Mattarella, Trump noted that Italy and the U.S. are bound together through shared ties to the ancient city, saying, "The United States and Italy are bound together by a shared cultural and political heritage dating back thousands of years to ancient Rome." The Founding Fathers of the U.S. had a well-documented affinity for the Roman republic, evidence of which is prevalent in American representative government and civic architecture.
