What the Democrats fear most is happening: President Trump and his negotiating team are reaching wide-ranging agreements with China that will be a huge boon to the United States.
In an Oval Office press conference yesterday, President Trump and China’s Vice Premier announced a Phase 1 set of agreements that will be documented over the next several weeks. The video of the press conference is embedded below; Trump’s performance was masterful. His many years of experience as a negotiator shine through.
The Phase 1 agreement covers several important topics, including agricultural sales. China has agreed to ramp up its purchases of agricultural products to $40-$50 billion

When President Trump was first elected there was a meme that had a picture of him with the caption “America, meet your new set of b**ls.” It was too early in his term to see if it would hold true and I’m so happy it has.

The U.S. use to be the country with a huge technological advantage over every other country on the planet. Not so anymore. Companies have been signing over their tech knowledge to China in order to be able to enter China's market for decades. This has as a result, made a country whose only asset was the ability to muster a 300 million man army also a technological opponent. This was not the case with Russia. While the trade deal will help farmers, the deal will bring 40 billion dollars into the U.S., but reduce tariffs on 250 billion of Chinese goods. An advanced country doesn't trade corn and soy beans, while the other country gains billions from producing high tech products produced by a Communist country that we may have to fight someday. While this deal helps my 401k, it doesn't do anything to reduce my fear that the U.S. is becoming a second rate power good for some farm products, but others going to China for advanced tech products.

I was wondering if the Chinese would wait until the election before collapsing. Looks like they have read the handwriting on the wall and decided that suffering for another year is not a smart idea. Besides, after Trump wins the election, they would not have gotten as good a deal.
Once again while the dems are acting like idiots, trying to impeach a president with an anonymous bureaucrat with only a nasty attitude and NO evidence, Trump is getting the business of the Country done.

Without any timetable for the reduction and elimination of all the tariffs the Wall Street folks are collectively yawning over the deal despite the spike on Friday. The futures market for Monday shows little follow through which is actually a good sign. The real strategy is not to suddenly go back to the same relationship that drove the trade imbalance in the first place. The message to the C suite folks is to diversify their supply chains and divest their dependencies on the Chinese over the next few years. With the threat of future tariffs still hanging over them they have a clear incentive to invest some of the tax break money in capital expenditures outside of China.
The reduction in trade tensions will allow them to give more positive guidance on earnings because they can still sell into China's vast market without retaliation fears.
All this would be great news except for one problem. Hong Kong. I hope I'm totally wrong on this but I fear that Xi's signature on the agreement in Chile in about a month will not be dry before they crack down on Hong Kong for good. They are betting that Trump will not overreact to this after his lovefest with Xi and given his hints that Hong Kong is a Chinese matter. They also perceive his general attitude toward US isolationism. I don't think the markets will be as calm as Trump if this should happen.

We were not going to go to war with China over Hong Kong no matter who the President is. Hong Kong is Chinese territory, a fact that is acknowledged internationally including by the US, and they have a sovereign right to enforce their laws there.
It's time for the US to see to its own.

FTA - "Many are saying that the Chinese willingness to enter into this wide-ranging agreement shows that they understand impeachment is a joke, and expect that President Trump will be re-elected."
If this is just the Phase 1 agreement, Phase 2 is going to be the epic agreement that Bush 1 and 2, BJ, and Obie were too chicken to undertake. Indeed, Xi sees the writing on the wall with the expected Trump/Pence MAGAslide in November 2020.

As soon as the democrats' impeachment madness over Ukraine falls apart, the "Collusion with China" phase will begin. I'm guessing the January-February timeframe so they have almost a year to build it up. They've got nothing else and no viable candidates.
I knew Donald Trump was going to be good for the country way back in 2016 but I am thoroughly impressed now. The icing on the cake will be North Korea.

The Donald has understood all along that China is our principal adversary and that we have to stop letting China steal us blind. Biden, et al. think China is just fine. Just another example of DJT's success in wielding power to help America.

What Democrats like Biden, JFK, Peloise and Finstein fear most is that their sweet heart million dollar deals may stop.

It is true, as #8 says, that we were never going to go to war over Hong Kong. I am, however, disappointed that Trump seems to dismiss the whole matter without speaking out about the courageous people fighting for their freedom there. Words have power-- just ask the East Germans and the Poles, who heard the encouraging words of Reagan. Then contrast that with the weasel Obama, who could have used words to encourage the Iranian Green Movement, but did not. We can't be the world's policeman-- that is true-- bu we can still raise our voice for freedom.
