Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., got emotional on Friday as she discussed how climate change affected her own personal outlook on life.“I speak to you not as an elected official or a public figure, but I speak to you as a human being," the freshman congresswoman told a climate summit in Copenhagen. "A woman whose dreams of motherhood now taste bittersweet, because of what I know about our children's future," she added, apparently choking back tears. She was giving her keynote address at the C40 World Mayors Summit which recently approved a global version of her "Green New Deal."

Tomorrow is promised to no one. So get a grip, suck it up and live your life. However, do not take me down the "climate change fantasy trail" with you. Actually if this fake news keeps you from reproducing than I say YEAH! "They" have been predicting doom since I was in my late teens. I am now in my late 60's. Still waiting. My son is getting married in about two hours. Since last week I have been checking the projected weather everyday. The forecast was changed four times in six days. If they cannot predict tomorrow's weather then I sure don't trust or believe them. Take care of what we have, conserve, don't trash nature, look for better more efficient ways to do the same things we are doing now. Taking away cars, planes, meat, all fossil fuel is just plain stupid.

Although AOC has promised not to bring children into this world, I am wondering if it is too late to abort AOC. They say parents can abort children at anytime , but when is it too late for a very late term abortion. I applaud her decision not to bring children into this world. Blame it on climate change, blame it on a shallow gene pool. blame it on the fact that the kid would only live to be twelve years old, so what's the point?. Those are all excellent excuses, just pick one.

At first my gag-meter was buzzing (and finally through a spring) at the insipid motherhood comments----but then I got mad with her comments about colonialism. I guess she doesn't like being civilized, and wants to live as her ancestors lived before Europeans arrived, maintaining her small carbon footprint and all. These people never stop to think where they'd be if not for European civilization, apparently. I wonder if she'd actually want to give up that garbage disposer she puzzled over.

Since late Tuesday the nation has been deafened by media outlets declaring that diplomat William Taylor provided “damning” congressional testimony involving President Trump’s actions toward Ukraine. The New York Times, for example, produced this breathless headline: “Donald Trump’s Quid Pro Quo Is Now a Smoking Gun.” Evidently, the “reporters” responsible for this story failed to read Taylor’s opening statement. It consists almost entirely of hearsay, shows that he wasn’t on the fabled phone call between presidents Trump and Zelensky, and confirms that he was assured by high-ranking Trump administration officials that the president sought no quid pro quo arrangement with Ukraine in exchange for aid:

It's a new three-way race in Iowa. Pete Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, who was initially seen as a long-shot presidential contender, has surged within striking distance of former vice president Joe Biden and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren in the first-in-the-nation Iowa caucuses, a Suffolk University/USA TODAY Poll finds. Biden, long viewed as the Democratic frontrunner, is faltering in the wake of a debate performance last week that those surveyed saw as disappointing. The poll, taken Wednesday through Friday, put Biden at 18%, Warren at 17% and Buttigieg at 13% among 500 likely Democratic caucusgoers. Those standings reflect significant changes

President Donald Trump's key immigration rule change, to discourage immigrants from relying on public health programs, food stamps, housing assistance and other welfare, got derailed on Friday by three federal judges. Their decisions, blocking Trump's rule from going into effect, are wins for Democrats and immigration lobbyists. America's poor are the losers. Our country needs to take care of its own needy first. Trump's proposed rule would make it harder for immigrants who use welfare to qualify for green cards and permanent residence, and it would give preference to immigrants who fend for themselves.

We are living through a phantasmagoric psychodrama generated by the dishonest national political press. This is the press whose Joe Scarborough of MSNBC did not show some of President Trump’s responses to his enemies because of “concern” for the president’s family, as he “seems to have lost his mind.” This is a new frontier in American journalism, where a television news commentator who hates the president wishes to spare the president’s family a rerun of his entirely rational denunciations of his enemies. The House of Representatives began considering impeachment because an anonymous Democrat and former political associate of Vice President Biden received a hearsay account of a conversation

Anonymous accusations have been regarded with suspicion by honorable leaders for at least two millennia. Even the Romans rejected the use of such allegations against Christians. Indeed, the Emperor Trajan explicitly admonished one of his provincial governors against doing so: “Anonymously posted accusations ought to have no place in any prosecution. For this is both a dangerous kind of precedent and out of keeping with the spirit of our age.” The Democrats of our era aren’t troubled by such scruples, it would seem. In fact, they have used just such an accusation as the pretext for their “impeachment inquiry,” and it is indeed dangerous.

The fictional setting for National Lampoon’s Animal House (1978) is mythical Faber College, in 1962. A largely traditional small college set in suburbia, near a small town, staid Faber is turned upside down by the raucous, party-crazy students at Delta fraternity. They perpetrate outrageous stunts, scoring with the ladies whilst scorning their studies. In response, the Dean and his right-wing troglodyte stooges scheme to expel the miscreants. They succeed, only to see the Deltas uproariously turn the tables on them during the nearby town’s annual parade. A savage satire, blending social mores, politics, and college-life hijinks, the film remains a baby boomer classic.
