Matt Drudge's foray into respectability has made him an unreliable -- indeed, downright misleading -- source of news. But the good news is there are alternatives to the Alternative Left Reality the Drudge Report now calls home. As a news vulture, I am on a constant search for news when online. Most bloggers are. Terry Ponick of Communities Digital News spoke for many of us in a column in which he enumerated his top sites for news. His rules are:   *Report the news in a true or reasonably true manner   *Report/comment on stories the so-called mainstream media bury so you can’t see them

Read on. Very interesting stuff. Ponick’s first article (there will be more as he goes on to different news site categories) was posted here yesterday from CDN.

Drudge is hyperventilating over this Dem impeachment drama. It's clear by the type of articles he makes bold red color that he's turned "Never Trumper," or that he's turned scared the Dems willl make good on threats to regulate him.

I used to go to THE DUDGGE REPORT first and read all the links. Now that the site is overrun with Left Wing propaganda, I just peek at it once a week to see if anything has changed. I leave it if I see it still has hysterical headlines favoring the Left. That means I spend less than one minute a week on that site.

Agree with other commenters about the almost schizophrenic turn Drudge has taken. Rarely go there anymore either. Fortunately, unlike several other sites I used to frequent, Ms. Lucianne has not allowed hers to deteriorate into a saloon. Has anyone else noticed that AT seems to be attracting some new unsavory posters and a lot of trolls? Now I read their articles only when they're posted here. Will join others in giving Whatfinger a look-see.

HPSCI Ranking Member Devin Nunes questioned NSC official Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman about whether he had shared the contents of the phone call between President Trump and Ukraine President Zelensky with anyone outside the White House. In responding Vindman stated “two people”, and then named State Dept George Kent, and a person from the intelligence community. Then things get interesting. Vindman refused to name the intelligence agency because it would likely expose the CIA “whistle-blower”. This non-answer makes Alexander Vindman the source for the CIA “whistleblower” Eric Ciaramella.

Most of us live within what we consider to be a republic.(Snip) what's being revealed in the Impeachment Theater is that there exists a confederation of interests--both within the government as well as outside (but very much connected with) the government--that view America as an empire. These interests are broadly bi-partisan--think: Uniparty, as sundance at CTH famously says. They are also broadly "progressive," even among the non-Dem members. Their focus on Empire is designed to "fundamentally transform" the world in the interests of a global order of their making, just as the progressive project on the domestic front is to transform American society in fundamental ways.

Eric Ciaramella, whom Real Clear Investigations suggests is the likely so-called whistleblower, received emails about Ukraine policy from a top director at George Soros’s Open Society Foundations. The emails informed Ciaramella and a handful of other Obama administration foreign policy officials about Soros’s whereabouts, the contents of Soros’s private meetings about Ukraine and a future meeting the billionaire activist was holding with the prime minister of Ukraine. A primary recipient of the Open Society emails along with Ciaramella was then-Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs Victoria Nuland, who played a central role in the anti-Trump dossier affair. The precise point at issue is President Obama’s announcement on June 15, 2012 of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Obama took executive action following Congress’s failure, once again, to pass the so-called DREAM Act, which would have given illegal aliens who arrived in the United States as children certain privileges, including a path to citizenship. The president took action even after conceding he had no legitimate constitutional power to do so. Ba da-da da-da da-da, feelin' Trumpy. The impeachment inquisition is the political equivalent of a participation trophy for Democrats. Every day, they trot out witnesses who offer no proof whatsoever of any crime by President Donald John Trump. Every day, the media rewards the Democrats with headlines that say the testimony was devastating. And every day, the president's re-election committee collects another million dollars in donations from Americans fed up with these shenanigans. But the big news is Republicans are showing spine.
