Stonewalling alone could be grounds for
impeachment, top Democrats say

If the Trump administration continues to not cooperate with Congressional investigations, the president could be impeached on that alone, top Democrats threatened on Wednesday. Speaking at a press conference Wednesday, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff reaffirmed Democrats’ new stance that they’ll consider any resistance from the administration as “further evidence of obstruction.” “Of course that was an article of impeachment against President Nixon,” the California Democrat said. For his part, Mr. Trump said Wednesday he was willing to go along with Democrats, but it’s not clear how far that cooperation will extend.

Comments:

IOW, "while we know that President Trump didn't steal any cattle, he is definitely guilty of obstructing our efforts to hang him for stealing cattle so we will hang him for that!!"

The queen is Pelosi and she doesn't even count. The two deuces are Schiffer-brains and Nadler-the-Hut.

Whoa. I am no lawyer, but I believe the Congressional committee would have to be investigating a suspected crime - a very specific crime - not just on a fishing expedition. This is far too open-ended to be legal…especially when it is part of a coup to remove the duly elected President.

The sad reality is that the dems don't even need a reason. They can get together and if they can convince a majority to vote yes, they can vote for impeachment. Serious people would never consider this but we already know dems are not serious. Eventually they would face the judgement of the American People on election day but that wouldn't stop the fools now. They are pretty crazy and have no ethics or morals. When the Republicans take over the House, if they have 2/3 of the seats, I think they should vote to expel by the procedures of Article I, Section 5, which provides "Each House shall be the Judge of the Elections, Returns and Qualifications of its own Members ... Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member.

As Andrew McCarthy has pointed out today this is not a legal impeachment inquiry, this hearing is a made for TV campaign ad for the Democratic party. The Constitution made clear for very good historical reasons that the President as head of the Executive Branch is not subject to the political harassment tactics of the Legislative Branch. Unless they take and record a vote of each member, as they have in every other case of this type in history, the proceedings lack any investigative power including the power to see and review all evidence and witnesses and to subpoena documents or testimony. The evidence from Kurt Volker today confirmed there was no quid pro quo involved in the discussion between Trump and Zelevsky. In fact, as John Soloman has pointed out in his reporting, the Ukraine justice system had already formally opened an investigation into the 2016 election meddling and the Biden bribery scandal well before the call took place so there was no favor to give. Trump was just making sure that Zelevsky knew that we knew the extent of the corruption in his country.

On Monday, the intelligence community inspector general (ICIG) admitted that it did alter its forms and policies governing whistleblower complaints, and that it did so in response to the anti-Trump complaint filed on Aug. 12, 2019. The Federalist first reported the sudden changes last Friday. While many in the media falsely claimed the ICIG’s stunning admission debunked The Federalist’s report, the admission from the ICIG completely affirmed the reporting on the secretive change to whistleblower rules following the filing of an anti-Trump complaint in August. The ICIG also disclosed for the first time that the anti-Trump complainant filed his complaint using the previously authorized form,

Remember when Sen. Chuck Schumer, in response to criticism President Trump leveled at the Intelligence Community, retorted with this? "Let me tell you: You take on the intelligence community — they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you," Schumer told MSNBC's host Rachel Maddow. Turns out that's an understatement, as the Federalist's Sean Davis has now uncovered in a truly outrageous report. We already know that the Intelligence Community's inspector general (IGIC) office mysteriously changed its rules for anyone filing a whistleblower complaint to not needing to have one's information firsthand just before the famed whistleblower filed his report sometime around August.

Democrats have opened Pandora's Box by taking up the subject of election influence coming from Ukraine. They seized upon the conversation between President Trump and Ukraine's President Zelensky, leaked by a Deep State operative embedded in the White House to someone claiming the status of whistleblower as the basis for their public impeachment hoax. It is a hoax for three reasons: Because no actual impeachment committee has been established, as that would require their vulnerable members from districts Trump carried in 2016 to take an actual position on a dodgy impeachment enterprise. Because Trump said nothing wrong in his conversation.

Pig-ignorant, arrogant, jingoistic, contemptuous of foreigners, loud-mouthed, badly dressed and irredeemably bumptious. So consuming is the European antipathy toward Donald Trump — he’s never read a book!
