What you need to know here is that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is ruthlessly enforcing a policy of "Hindutva" ("Hindu-ness"), meaning that any activities which are not explicitly Hindu are automatically defined as anti-Hindu, Western, neocolonialist, subversive. They are particularly opposed to any kind of charitable or humanitarian activities --- social services, clinics, schools, civic improvements like clean water --- which have non-Hindu sponsorship, no matter whom they serve or under what conditions. All such activities are defined as "proselytizing" and that in turn conditional upon religious affiliation or conversion. It's outright, brutal bigotry against Christians or any other non-Hindu minority.

Typo in the above: should read "All such activities are defined as "proselytizing" and that in turn means "forced conversions," even when the benefits of such activities are IN NO WAY conditional upon religious affiliation or conversion."

Every year, thousands of Shia worshippers take part in the ceremonies, performed to mourn the death of Husayn ibn Ali, a grandson of the Prophet Muhammad. The commemorations take place on Ashura, the tenth day of the first month of the Islamic calendar. They mark Husayn's death at the Battle of Karbala, fought between Husayn and Yazid I on October 10 680AD to determine who should succeed the prophet as the leader of Islam.

Authorities have upped charges against five people accused of burglarizing the USS Ling in Hackensack, who are now charged with flooding the historic submarine during two break-ins last summer, allegedly causing damage in the hundreds of thousands, according to the submarine’s trustees. An eight-count indictment from July 9 added counts of conspiracy and knowingly causing a flood, both second-degree crimes, to the burglary and criminal mischief charges the five so-called urban explorers faced for allegedly stealing artifacts from the WWII-era vessel. Police initially declined to charge the group with flooding the Ling with 10 feet of water during the alleged burglaries, citing insufficient evidence on when the flooding occurred.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made a payment towards her student loan debt during a committee meeting and called on Congress to take swift action on the issue. “I literally made a student loan payment while I was sitting here at this chair, and I looked at my balance and it was $20,237.16 (£16,410.62),” the New York Democrat said at a meeting of the financial services committee focusing on student debt. “I just made a payment that took me down to $19,000 (£15,412),” she added, “so I feel really accomplished right now.”(Snip) Democrats like Ilhan Omar and Bernie Sanders have also called on Congress

Although the Democrats were heavily focused on winning in North Carolina's 3rd and 9th Congressional Districts and they outspent the GOP heavily, Republicans Dan Bishop and Greg Murphy came out victorious on Tuesday night. But how did they win when the odds were stacked against them, at least on the monetary front? According to Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, President Donald Trump rallied voters and helped push the candidates over the finish line. In particular, Trump's last minute stump on Monday night gave Bishop a last minute boost,

City contractors would have to reveal past ties to slavery under a Council bill that will be introduced on Thursday. The legislation would require companies to search their history and records to determine if they or any affiliated entities engaged in or profited from the slave trade when they enter in or renew city contracts of $100,000 or more. “New York City is the financial capital of the world, and the ugly truth is that its stature as such has roots in the slave trade,” Councilman I. Daneek Miller, a co-sponsor of the legislation with Councilwoman Inez Barron (D-Brooklyn).

Hillary Clinton visited an art exhibit in Venice, Italy this week which displayed 60,000 pages of her ’emails’ she sent over her private server. The artist, Kenneth Goldsmith, printed up 60,000 pages of Hillary Clinton’s emails that somehow managed to survive her BleachBit spree and called the exhibit, “HILLARY: The Hillary Clinton Emails.” “Donald Trump said, ‘Where are her emails? Lock her up!’ And I said, ‘You know what? Here they are, and there’s really nothing to them.’ It’s kind of an anti-monument,” Goldsmith told artnet News. “Trump literally made a mountain out of a molehill.”

On the anniversary of 9-11 attacks where Islamic terrorists hijacked airplanes and flew them into the Twin Towers, the Pentagon and into a field in Pennsylvania killing nearly 3,000 Americans, CNN is attacking ‘right wingers.’ This is disgusting. As CNN was spewing anti-American propaganda, the chyron read, “America’s 9/11 Amnesia.” “The striking similarities between the KKK and Islamist jihadis,” CNN said. WATCH:

President Donald John Trump is having workers paint the wall rising along our southern border black. This has the press corps sobbing. Kathryn Krawczyk of The Week wrote, "Trump hasn't let his aesthetic demands fall by the wayside. One mile of the wall was painted matte black so it would be more hot and slippery to ward off climbers, and Trump is demanding it all be painted the same color,(Snip)And even though the top of that current one-mile span is covered with smooth metal plates, Trump wants those 'unsightly' climbing deterrents removed in favor of spiked steel toppers." The September 11, 2001 attacks were the result of an unmitigated intelligence failure. No, 9/11 was not an “inside job,” as many conspiracy theorists believe. Osama bin Laden and his al-Qaeda network were responsible. But, the 9/11 plot did not happen in a vacuum. In reality, America’s elephantine national security state had known of bin Laden and his network years before the horrific events of 9/11. Some of the most powerful people in the national security state routinely downplayed and ignored the threat al-Qaeda posed to the United States before 19 hijackers murdered 2,911 people in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania.

President Donald Trump is reportedly fed up with the homeless camps that dot the California landscape and wants to move the residents into some form of transitional housing. The camps are not only an eyesore but contribute to lawlessness. The problem has intensified over the summer and Trump is apparently ready to move beyond criticizing the state’s lack of response to proving solutions, sources told the Washington Post Tuesday. Those sources did not say what exactly the administration would do and did not care to speculate whether California and municipal governments would be anxious to collaborate with a president who has consistently blamed them for the homelessness plight in the state.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) schooled leftist actress Alyssa Milano on Tuesday during a gun control debate, arguing that America should do more to combat gun violence but without infringing upon Americans’ right to bear arms. Cruz and Milano agreed to hold a “civil” debate last week on gun control. Milano opened up the debate, explaining that she is “terrified” because she does not know how to keep her family safe from gun violence. Milano said that despite their disagreement on the issue, she believes that with “mutual respect and humility” they can affect positive change in the country.

Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice shut down NBC’s Savannah Guthrie after Guthrie asked her whether Russia “elected Donald Trump.” Rice was a guest on Wednesday’s “Today Show,” and Guthrie began to question the former secretary of state about all things Russia. At one point, Guthrie asked if Russia “actually elected Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton?” Rice immediately called out the theory, saying there isn’t “any evidence” to support the allegations. “Do you think it’s possible that Russia’s election interference actually worked?” Guthrie asked. “It actually elected Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton?”

Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch said he believes that the American people should not want him or his colleagues to rule the country, but should rather have the "battle of ideas" play out in the political arena. "We wrote a constitution. We put down what we wanted to put down in it. We can amend it when we wish. And it is not up to nine people to tell 330 million Americans how to live," Gorsuch said in an extended interview with CNN Tuesday. "Do you really want me to rule the country?" he asked. Gorsuch, 52, said America is a "raucous republic"
