Former Defense Secretary James Mattis has a book coming out in which he is harshly critical of President Obama. Among other things, he recalls his dissent from Obama’s decision to pull troops out of Iraq prematurely, which had nearly-disastrous consequences. But this less well-known story about Iran is also noteworthy: Mattis says Washington didn’t even inform him when Iran committed an “act of war” on American soil. Mattis was CENTCOM commander at the time, responsible for our military posture vis-a-vis Iran. The duty officer at his Tampa, Florida, headquarters on Oct. 11, 2011 told him that the attorney general and FBI director had held

There's much more to US-Iran relations than is generally known. Obama actually conducted an act of war against Iran via the Stuxnet cyber attack on Iran's nuclear facilities in 2010. Plenty of deep state people knew about it, several including Hayden I believe said US should expect to be attacked in return for what US (Obama) had done. Stuxnet physically destroyed Iran nuclear facilities as if a bomb had attacked them. But it was done via computer, said to be the first bombing done by computer, and that US knew their actions would and should merit US being attacked in return. Obama really enjoyed doing it, loved keeping it secret except from a few of his insider pals like the NY Times. He let David Sanger write a book about it. Eventually, Obama screwed up, a virus escaped from Stuxnet and went all over the place. At that point, the US said well Israel worked on this with us and they're the ones who screwed up and let the virus out. Biden was quoted blaming Israel.

And this is exactly why they want Americans to disarm. My response anymore to the anti-gun crowd is this: every American should be able to protect itself from a rogue individual, entity, or government. Especially now when you hear Biden talking about "we will tell you where to build or not" or any other politician insisting on their invasive policies. Obama put in place a healthcare program where you were fined if you didn't participate. These are rogue tactics but, hey, when you are jealous, faithless, and greedy, this is how they will act.

The Stuxnet cyber attack on Iran's nuclear facilities in 2010 was supposed to be an ultra secret covert operation that was never supposed to see the light of day. Obama bragging about it to his insider pals like the NY Times guaranteed that the story would go public. His public disclosure that Israel worked on this with us was an unforgivable betrayal of an ally. The fact that Iran tried an assignation in Washington, DC in retribution may explain why he and John Kerry gave away the store in the later agreement. Obama will go down in history as one, if not the, most irresponsible and destructive Presidents that has held that office.

Pardon the second comment, but ValJar is not Iranian. She is actually the daughter of an American black research doctor who happened to be in Iran studying some chronic diseases for some dissertation he was working on. She is not Iranian, though she seems to possibly have converted. She is American, which makes her actions even worse IMO>

Was Jarrett born in Iran or did she just live there for a while as a child? I read somewhere that her father wanted to move out of "racist" America and chose to practice in Iran (he was a doctor). Whether she has some special affinity for Iran because of her early life there is unclear but it seems pretty definite that she was raised hating America.

Beto O’Rourke this week claimed, without evidence (because there is none), that failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams was robbed of the governor’s mansion in 2018. This is a lie, of course, and a contemptible one that undermines our democracy. But at least it is a step up from the former congressman's campaign attempts to make his response to mass shootings go viral. “A man from Georgia asked me what I will do about voting rights,” read the former Texas congressman and 2020 Democratic primary candidate’s Twitter feed Thursday evening. “That’s because, were it not for voter suppression, Stacey Abrams would be governor right now. When an environmentalist says he or she wants to “save the planet” be sure to ask: “For whom?” Because often it seems like they're not doing it for people at all. The anti-people nature of environmentalism is sometimes just a matter of minor inconvenience, as when environmentalist policies force upon us flickering light bulbs, weak showers and toilets, and front-loading washing machines. Sometimes the imposition is greater, resulting in higher energy costs, the destruction of industries, and the degradation of human health. For instance, the Economist recently lamented, “More poor people are eating meat around the world. That means they will live longer, healthier lives, but it is bad news for the environment.”

Democrats’ verbal targeting of everything from plastic straws to cheeseburgers is stoking fears among anti-Trump forces that they’re unwittingly playing into Republican culture wars. Conservative recrimination over the threatened wholesale takeover of society came swiftly after CNN’s marathon climate change forum with Democratic presidential hopefuls this week. Republicans gleefully painted the field as a bunch of out-of-touch elites: In one video, the Republic National Committee shared brief clips from the candidates, including Joe Biden, appearing to advocate a shutdown of coal-burning plants and taking gas-burning vehicles off the road “as rapidly as we can.”

U.S. employers added 130,000 jobs in August, missing Wall Street's expectations, as trade uncertainty and slowing global growth darkened the economic outlook. The unemployment rate remained steady at 3.7 percent, near a 50-year low, while the labor force participation rate was little changed at 63.2 percent. Average hourly earnings, meanwhile, rose 3.2 percent over the past year to $28.11. That was slightly higher than projections of 3.1 percent. Economists expected employers to add 158,000 jobs, in line with average growth this year but sharply below the 2018 average of 223,000. The June and July jobs numbers were trimmed by a combined 20,000, the Labor Department said Friday.

If someone tries to criticize them, it’s beneath their dignity to worry about it. It’s just a little speck they brush off their shoulder. The Brits are good at that, Boris Johnson especially. We still don’t know how things will turn out there, but I expect his aplomb will carry him through. “There are no disasters,” he once joked. “Only opportunities.
