Trump’s tariff pause shows he’s

President Trump’s delay on implementing announced tariff increases on Chinese goods that would be on many Christmas shopping lists sparked a stock market bump yesterday. But, while domestic considerations (i.e., his re-election) are important, the move must be seen in the broader context of a staredown with President Xi. Even though China is a dictatorship, XI’s hold on his job is not something he can take for granted. Xi has grabbed power, purging some of his enemies and ending limits on his tenure, which makes him personally responsible for the serious ill-effects of his tariff war with Trump and for the unrest in Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong mess is frightening the Chinese thugs-in-charge. Too much pressure on thugs and they can snap back. Even though the US has nothing to do with the Hong Kong protests, it is probably best to dial the pressure back just a touch for a while and avoid causing too much fear in the circles of power in China at this time. The pressure can be reapplied later.

Hong Kong has been a Golden Goose. Now, China will kill it, in the name of communism. The city will wither on the vine, as the money leaves. Business is already pulling out.

In the hours before American equity markets open for trading, China sent a huge sell signal to the traders on Wall Street. Bloomberg reports: China called planned U.S. tariffs on an additional $300 billion in Chinese goods a violation of accords reached by Presidents Donald Trump and Xi Jinping, signaling an American move earlier this week to delay some of those levies was not enough to stave off retaliation. (snip) President Trump has already stated the obvious: China wants him to lose his re-election bid so that a “stiff” from the Democrats will replace him and be a pushover, letting China return to the good old days of rigging trade

There are two competing theories being debated today about American individuals’ “right” to gun ownership. (snip) The notion that the federal government could “ban” gun ownership was such an anathema to American sensibilities, and so clearly afoul of the Second Amendment’s intent as had been clearly understood up to that point, that the NFA could not be passed as an overt federal restriction upon individual ownership of firearms. The law was constructed and upheld upon the federal government’s presumed ability to tax, not upon its ability to restrict ownership of firearms.

I recently had a lunch meeting with a client of 25 years who is a lifelong member and financial supporter of the Democratic Party. (snip) This same cabal that would be charged with governing the nation has, for the past three and a half years, marginalized, physically confronted and repeatedly accused 63 million Americans who voted for Donald Trump of being not only racists but fascists and white supremacists, as well as homophobic, xenophobic and among the most vile people on the face of the earth. What will be their intentions for these rightfully incensed citizens?

Obviously, the stranger who called Chris Cuomo “Fredo” touched a very sensitive nerve in the anchor for the third-rated cable news operation. As the son and brother of 2 governors of New York, Chris may feel himself an underachiever, perhaps occupying his position of prominence solely on the basis of his family ties. That could explain the vehemence, verbal thuggery, and victimology of the unhinged rant that followed. They have mismanaged everything they get their hands on, and then blame others for their own deeds. I watch them lie and cheat and twist words.

If there was ever any doubt about the depth and extent of the deep-state coup against both candidate and President Donald J. Trump and the number of deep-state actors attempting to thwart the will of the American people, it vanished with the release of partially redacted copies of former Deputy Atty. Gen. Bruce Ohr’s FBI 302 reports (interview summaries) on Thursday evening obtained by Judicial Watch. They confirm that Bruce Ohr and his wife Nellie were not merely passive conduits for the fraudulent Steele Dossier but were active participants in the plot to deny Trump the presidency.

Joe Biden’s mental state has so seriously deteriorated that he cannot separate fantasy and reality. (snip) “...those kids in Parkland came up to see me when I was vice president.” But when they visited Capitol Hill to talk with members of Congress, lawmakers were “basically cowering, not wanting to see them. They did not want to face it on camera.” The kids could not have seen him in the Vice President’s Capitol office – since Biden was no longer the occupant of that office. Biden fantasied this meeting and presented it as fact in public.

Much has been written and will be written on the death of Jeffery Epstein. Was it suicide? Was it murder? The only thing certain is that the man did not die of natural causes. The official finding will most likely be suicide. Even if this is actually the case, it still will fuel "conspiracy" theories. Rightfully so. (snip) Trust in government and the agencies of government is already at an all time low. The Department of Justice, the CIA, and the FBI have already discredited themselves by their participation in the coup against President Trump.

A lot of very powerful Democrats are breathing sighs of relief. Dead men tell no tales, and the man whose tales could sink the reputations of and potentially incarcerate a slew of the most important political figures in the US (and a member of the British Royal Family) will be making no deals with prosecutors implicating bigger fish. The cynics who insisted that he would never live to bring down so many powerful people have been vindicated. Of course, we don’t know any details of his demise, so theoretically it is possible that he took his own life for purely personal psychological concerns.

For the past two years, the left’s 'go to' words were “Russia,” “Mueller,” and “collusion.” Mueller’s investigation and report were a big swing and a miss and not surprisingly these words have quickly been erased from the vocabularies of cable news anchors and their panels. On a dime, coincident with a handful of mass shootings, the left’s new favorite words are “racist” and “white supremacist.” (snip) How long will it take before states, or the federal government, if a red flag law becomes nationalized, start to view any and all Trump supporters as “posing a danger” based on their skin color, gender, religion, and opposition to open borders?
