Perhaps the most disturbing thing about the mishandling of the Jeffrey Epstein case is that the eyes of the world, including those of unfriendly powers, are watching. What would they make of a justice system that first goes for years allowing a well-connected pedophile to operate, and then when the law finally catches up to him, allows him to mysteriously die in prison, a claimed suicide. And to make us all believe the unbelievable, a new tale is now being spun about guard incompetence, mysteriously non-recording cameras, a few screams at dawn, a missing roommate, someone who wasn't a guard guarding, an irregularly placed bedsheet,

Comments:

Despots are going to start picking dissidents off and throwing out the same excuses seen in this Epstein case. See, everybody does it.

How would the scenario be any different if he's not dead? He had a lot to tell and it's correct to say that dead men tell no tales. So wouldn't it be a major triumph for the government to find a way to keep him ALIVE, if he had agreed to cooperate and tell all? They could use his testimony for blackmail purposes both here and abroad, for years to come. If the government were indeed involved, things would be exactly as they are right now. We'd be asked to believe accounts of chaotic events and unbelievable incidents, as to why Epstein was suddenly whisked away with nothing recorded. For such a high profile case, I doubt that many explanations would be considered too preposterous. I realize this isn't likely but I'm trying to point out that given what's been disclosed at this point, nothing would be different. We haven't seen a body, there are no witnesses, and nothing is documented for the public to see. Yet we all already believe he is dead. Why? Because the MEDIA told us. Think about that.

Agreed, that jail might as well have been a dungeon under the streets of Moscow. The incompetence in our once-envied legal system has been exposed very well over the past two years. The rot goes all the way to the top.

This is a favorite tactic of the Clinton political machine...in the end some low level hack always gets thrown under the bus. It's a classic move.

A frequent theme in this column is one about the fallability of the brilliant. Jeff Bezos regularly acknowledges how often his experiments prove much less than great, the best venture capitalists admit that more than nine out of ten capital commitments result in bankruptcy, and then the world's best traders note that they're wrong almost as often as they're right. It's incredibly difficult to predict the future, and that's an understatement. This truism came to mind while reading Washington Post columnist Catherine Rampell’s lament about the Department of Agriculture’s recent decision to relocate the Economic Research Service (ERS) from Washington, D.C. to Kansas City.
The second scenario: Not suicide, but

The New York Times is sticking to its "narrative" that convicted pedophile-facing-new-charges Jeffrey Epstein, did himself in in a hoosegow suicide, surrounded by a sea of incompetence at Manhattan's Metropolitan Correctional Center. Its column about it is titled the definitive-sounding "What We Know About Jeffrey Epstein's Death." But the Washington Post seems to be moving to toward the second possibility, that Epstein was picked off by someone who wanted him gone at the Manhattan jail. An autopsy found that financier Jeffrey Epstein sustained multiple breaks in his neck bones, according to two people

If you didn’t know about Tuesday’s shooting at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement office in San Antonio, Texas, don’t feel bad. The story got almost no coverage. Even though it was the fourth attack on ICE offices in just the past four weeks, and these attacks are clearly politically motivated. The San Antonio shooter knew what he was doing. He targeted two floors that housed ICE administrative offices. Another shooting occurred at a separate facility that housed an ICE contractor. In other words, this was an attack specifically targeting ICE and those who work with ICE.

The Left is having a meltdown over the Trump administration's effort to begin enforcing longtime U.S. law about issuing green cards only to legal immigrants unlikely to become public charges. "Damage the economy," blared the Los Angeles Times, citing a slew of open-borders advocates. "A cruel and racist campaign," yelled a leftist state attorney general, the Connecticut Mirror reported. It's a coast-to-coast collective howl, and another pile of lawsuits, once again, over whether the law means the law, are now commencing. The whole thing goes to show how intertwined mass migration has become with

When asked Sunday about his 2006 prediction that we would reach the point of no return in 10 years if we didn’t cut human greenhouse gas emissions, climate alarmist in chief Al Gore implied that his forecast was exactly right. “Some changes unfortunately have already been locked in place,” he told ABC’s Jonathan Karl. “Sea level increases are going to continue no matter what we do now. But, we can prevent much larger sea level increases. Much more rapid increases in temperature. The heat wave was in Europe. Now it’s in Arctic. We’re seeing huge melting of the ice there. Accused pedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s death this morning — reportedly a suicide, according to federal officials — is an inexplicable end to a bizarre, tragic case that only got more disturbing the more we learned about it. The fact that one of the country’s highest-profile federal prisoners could even commit suicide defies all logic and belief. His death raises doubts about officials’ actions. The FBI says it will investigate; Attorney General William Barr says he is “appalled” by what happened; members of Congress such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) are demanding answers. Indeed we all need answers, before we lose all faith in our justice system.
