President Trump is set to save American taxpayers billions of dollars as his administration announces a new rule on Monday that will essentially ban welfare-dependent legal immigrants from permanently resettling in the United States.
A new regulation set to be published by the Trump administration will ensure that legal immigrants would be less likely to secure a permanent residency in the U.S. if they have used any forms of welfare in the past, including using subsidized healthcare services, food stamps, and public housing.
The regulation will be a boon for American taxpayers in the form of an annual $57.4 billion tax cut — the amount taxpayers spend every year

This is the law, now we are starting to enforce it, only under a Trump adminstration does the law matter.

How long will it take some idiot judge to place an injunction? Yet I will try to remain optimistic.

Wherever someone tries to do the right thing, there's an Obama judge to mess it up....just wait.

It has been long-standing Federal law that aliens not become public charges after they are allowed into the USA. The problem is that cowardly politicians have not effectively enforced that law and have allowed huge numbers of aliens to gain access to the US taxpayer funded social welfare safety networks to which they are not entitled to do by law. This is just another long-term UniParty and DC Deep State created situation that President Trump has had to fix.

Perhaps we can begin to focus some of these resources on helping our mentally ill that the Left refers to as "the homeless".

Trump once again provoking the dems. They, of course, will defend welfare for illegals because they’re idiots who can’t help themselves.
The man is a genius.

No doubt all the usual suspects will scream bloody murder and run off to court. Our side needs to be ready to counter it, especially when the attacks come from leftist Congress-critters (and Mitt). A civics lesson is in order, Congress writes the laws, so it is up to them (not President Trump) to change it if they don't like it.

Take away the free stuff and there is no incentive to come. Enforce the law either-verify and then prosecute employers who violate the law by luring the illegals, and Americans won’t have employment opportunities taken away from them.
Otherwise, we keep sending money into a black hole that gets worse all the time. No amnesty! No more anchor babies or chain migration, and things might get better faster!

Re #14, that was one of my ideas when the caravans began heading our way. Propaganda leaflet drops all over them to dissuade them from coming; telling them they’d been lied to by the coyotes…the smugglers...

It has been a thought for a long time....Maybe the IRS should FIRST CHECK: The original Name a SSI# was issued in.Then if there is a question as to double filings or a name change; Check that new name and current address out BEFORE issuing a Check...
Maybe, the Feds could also Tax The Checks sent OUT OF THE COUNTRY, to individuals---very heavily? $57 to 58 BILLION Buck$$ is NOT CHUMP CHANGE...

Anyone granted refugee status is eligible for full government benefits, as I understand it, so this enforcement would only apply to other immigrants who are not refugees.
In addition, I don't think a reach-back could legally apply to the ones already here, who received some sort of government benefit.

This is not just a criminal alien invader/refugee problem; it is also a problem of false "sportsmanship" of elderly relatives.
In the 1950s, my uncle was stationed in Germany, and met a woman he wanted to marry, his superiors told him he had to find a sponsor for her that owned property and would guarantee she would never become a public charge dependent on the taxpayers. It has been the law for decades, long before "The Great Society" just not enforced, especially in "Sanctuary Cities."
When I lived in LA County, I knew Immigrants who...as soon as they got the right paperwork...they would "sponsor" mother, father, relatives far too old to work & who did not speak English. They would go to LAX to get their beloved relative, and on the way "home" they would go to the local welfare office to sign Mom up for SSI, MediCal, SNAP, Section 8 Housing assistance, sometimes Mom didn't even spend one night at the "child sponsor's" home. This was in the 1980's and 1990's.

Americans...WE THE PEOPLE are fleeced of HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS OF DOLLARS A YEAR in this abject SCAM.

If some Obama judge stops this which has been law and the practice of our government, then I think everyone whose ancestor came here and had to be of sound health and able to work and went to work should get reparations because they theoretically should have been able to collect social services. If blacks would get reparations for their ancestors being slaves then descendants of workers should get the same for not being given welfare etc.
