The Land of Lincoln will require public schools to incorporate LGBTQ figures into history lessons. Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker on Friday signed House Bill 246, which mandates the following: “In public schools only, the teaching of history shall include a study of the roles and contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people in the history of this country and this State.” The bill, introduced by Rep. Anna Moeller, will go into effect in July. “THNX Gov. Pritzker, legislative champs @staterepmoeller @SenatorSteans, amazing partners @ILSafeSchools @lgbt_legacy!” Equality Illinois, the state’s largest LGBTQ civil rights group tweeted Friday. State Sen. Remember when Ellen's sitcom was canceled after she came out? She was on some talk show, crying, and said gay people should be celebrated. I firmly believe she, and a president I won't name, are behind all this gay/trans onslaught. Who on earth wants their child subjected to this stuff in school? It's just wrong.

I don't think including in history lessons people who happen to be gay is a big deal. I would prefer curriculum focus on achievements and events, regardless of the orientation of the people involved. For example, Hadrian was a homosexual. He is a significant person in Western history. Include him. Fine. But I don't need to know about famous drag queens unless I am studying pop culture. Excluding people on the basis of their orientation is not useful and neither is including them for that reason. Let people be people and report on what's of consequence and significance. Does it matter to me whether Churchill preferred women (his devoted wife) over men? Nope. What matters is that he defeated the Nazis and saved the world from German totalitarianism. King James gave us the greatest piece of English literature: The "Authorized" or "King James" version of the Bible. (The Bible is more than that, but the KJV is also English literature.) King James was as gay as a picnic basket. Who cares?!

LGBTQ goes back thousands of years. Who cares? It isn’t a big thing, regardless of how brave the gay people believe themselves to be. We wouldn’t have hummingbirds if they (hummingbirds) all decided to be gay. Sexual attraction exists, regardless of the irritation- anger of the gay folk. There is no such thing as a single “gay gene” researchers have said, but genetics–along with environmental factors–can influence a person’s sexual preferences. The largest ever study of its kind examined data and DNA information of about 500,000 people and found there were thousands of genetic variants linked to same-sex sexual behaviour, most of the them having a minor impact. The researchers said non-genetic factors, including upbringing, personality, and nurture, had far more influence on a person’s choice of sexual partner. The researchers, writing in Science, suggested genetics may account for as much as one-third of the various factors

In fact, perpetuating the belief that sexual orientation is innate has been crucial to the gay rights movement. According to the most recent Gallup Poll on the subject, 88 percent of people who believe homosexuals are “born that way” support the legality of same-sex marriage, while only 39 percent of those who believe homosexuality is the result of environmental factors support the legality of same-sex marriage. Netflix is prepping a series loosely based on a book recounting Hillary Clinton’s failed presidential campaigns, according to a report from the Hollywood Reporter. The series – The Girls on the Bus – is an adaption of New York Times journalist Amy Chozick’s book recounting Clinton’s failed campaigns, titled Chasing Hillary: Ten Years, Two Presidential Campaigns and One Intact Glass Ceiling. The book, published last year, details Clinton’s presidential aspirations dating back to her first bid, losing to former President Barack Obama in the Democrat primary of 2008.

The Department of Justice will not prosecute former FBI director James Comey after an internal probe of Comey’s handling of memos he kept of his interactions with President Donald Trump. In a report released Thursday, the Office of the Inspector General said its probe found that Comey violated department policy. "Upon completing its investigation, the OIG provided its factual findings to the Justice Department for a prosecutorial decision regarding Comey’s conduct, as required by the Inspector General Act. After reviewing the matter, the DOJ declined prosecution," the office said in a statement.
