The state of Florida is making billions in tax revenue due to an influx of new residents fleeing high-tax states. A new study performed by LendingTree found that the Sunshine State is “the number one largest beneficiary from relocations out of all 50 states — by a landslide,” according to Fox Business. The 2016 IRS data analyzed showed that individuals who relocated to Florida brought in a combined adjusted gross income (AGI) of nearly $30.2 billion. “Meanwhile, people who left took roughly $12.5 billion in income with them, leaving Florida to enjoy a net influx of about $17.7 billion in AGI,” the study said. Nevada has gone blue due to the Californians, New Yorkers and Chicagoans moving there. The new Legislature mimicked California's in the last session and next up is overturning the state sales tax prohibition and renaming McCarron Airport as Harry Reid Airport. The State may as well be annexed by California.

Lawyer Michael Avenatti asked a federal judge to dismiss an indictment accusing him of trying to extort Nike Inc, saying he was targeted in a “vindictive and selective prosecution” because of his feud with U.S. President Donald Trump. Avenatti made his request in filings on Wednesday night with the federal court in Manhattan. Prosecutors accused Avenatti in March of trying to extort more than $20 million from Nike by threatening to expose what he called its improper payments to recruits for college basketball teams it sponsored. Nike has denied wrongdoing. A spokesman for U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman in Manhattan declined to comment on Thursday. Avenatti is also known for having represented porn star

Five Democrat senators have filed a brief with the U.S. Supreme Court, urging it to stay out of a pending Second Amendment case and warning it that a majority of Americans now believe the "Supreme Court should be restructured in order to reduce the influence of politics." The case, New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. City of New York, is the first major challenge to gun laws since 2010, the senators said. According to SCOTUS blog, the New York State Pistol and Rifle Association, representing gun owners who live in the city, are challenging the city's ban on transferring licensed, unloaded guns anywhere outside city limits --

“Beverly Hills Suffers Shopping Slump Amid Trump-China Trade War,” bemoans a Hollywood Reporter headline. “Notably fewer Ferraris with Arabic plates cruise Rodeo Drive” because “The president’s battle with Beijing and visa policies on Gulf nations are taking a brutal toll,” the article argues, noting double-digit percentage sales declines in the exclusive district – with “no end in sight.” One reason wealthy travelers aren’t visiting Beverly Hills, California as much these days is that “They can’t get visas for their staff because of what Trump’s doing,” one luxury personal shopper tells The Hollywood Reporter. She says she longs for the time when one could mistake Rodeo Drive for an Arabic retail district:

A 9-year-old girl is suing a centuries-old Berlin boys’ choir, arguing that her bid to join was only rejected because of her gender, in a case that has sparked debate over equal rights versus artistic freedom. The State and Cathedral Choir is one of the most renowned boys’ choirs in Germany, founded in 1465 by Fredrick II of Brandenburg. Over its 554 years, it has never admitted any girls. The girl, whose identity was not revealed to protect her privacy, auditioned with the choir in March and was rejected, according to the Berlin administrative court that is to rule on the suit Friday.

Of all the pandering showcased during Democrats’ attempts to win back the presidency, wiping out student debt ranked at or near the top. “I believe that education is the future for this country,” socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders barked during the first round of Democratic primary debates, explaining that’s why we must “eliminate student debt and we do that by placing a tax on Wall Street.” Sen. Amy Klobuchar spoke similarly. “I can tell you this,” the Minnesota senator demagogued, “if billionaires can pay off their yachts, students should be able to pay off their student loans.” There can be no serious discussion of this issue, however, in 60-second sound bites.

Rogers’ remarks incurred anger from people on all sides of the abortion debate, but the resulting maelstrom did not address the most damaging part of his argument: the assumption that “unwanted” is synonymous with “unloved.” In the late 1980s, my birth mother placed me for adoption,

The federal government could have collected $34.3 billion more in taxes from the nation’s largest corporations by increasing IRS resources by less than half that amount, according to a new study. That’s nearly 20% of the estimated gap between what corporations paid in taxes and what they owed from 2002 through 2014. The report from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business is the first to quantify the amount of corporate tax revenue lost during the audit process for every dollar of IRS budget cuts, according to the school. The number of federal tax examiners has declined by about one third since 2010.
