President Trump said in a tweet Thursday that he will name Joseph Maguire, the director of the National Counterterrorism Center, as the acting director of national intelligence, following his aborted effort to install a political loyalist.
Maguire is a retired Navy admiral not steeped in the inner workings of the intelligence community, but his appointment was seen as steadying in the middle of a tumultuous shake-up in the top ranks of the country’s spy agencies.
As Trump announced Maguire’s appointment, he also said that Sue Gordon, the deputy director of national intelligence, would resign and not serve in the acting role when director

Wow. First two sentences reveal bias and opinion. Can the Wapo even report 'news' anymore?

Sorry for 2nd post, but, yes, I agree, let the 'deep state' bloodletting begin.

Warner misstated what he meant. He really means that the mission of the intelligence communities is to assist demonrats in any corrupt deal they can come up with.

Well when the former deputy of counterintelligence operations is working for MSNBC and reading secret double decoder messages from flags flown at half staff, I think it is probably time to clear the place and start all over. These guys are mentally ill. His description of 88 and the whole secret message to white supremacist thing tells you how far down the rabbit hole these nitwits have gone. We should have suspected when they couldn't stop the Boston bombers when they were given a road map and as much info as they needed and told us that the investigation didn't turn up anything that they were incompetent and needed a good shake up.

There is no tumultuous shakeup. The Deep State has remained in control since Trump was elected. So one or two people leave, big deal. The first guy Trump hired, Coats, was hateful and dripped Deep State. We've still got the UK Deep State in charge--even though we didn't elect the UK. We're told we can't see FISA docs because so-called ally UK asked Trump to keep them secret and he agreed. We're back to being peasant colonists of a warmongering, money grabbing and deeply globalist monarchy.

Screw the shakeup. I want to see orange suits and handcuffs. Watergate was child's play compared to this coup of a sitting president. I wonder if Obama plans to hide somewhere where he can't be extradited. OR I wonder who will take the fall this this guy.

Writers are ignorant. If Maguire is the director of the National Counterterrorism Center, then he is steeped in the intelligence community and knows its inner workings. He's not some newbie.

"The mission of the intelligence community is to speak truth to power." Well this sounds more like the mission of most of the extreme leftist groups in the country. I would rather their mission is to provide good viable intelligence to the administration.

I agree with #5. It doesn't seem there is a Saturday Massacre going on at Deep State. There should be! Watching the story about Bruce Orr on FOX this morning is stunning. Yes, he still has his job with the FBI. They said he "can't" be fired. Why not? There are still so many "Deputy" this and that still working against Trump. He needs to get Tom Homan in there and give him the authority to slash and burn. He is probably the only guy I would trust to get the job done! DOJ needs to weed out and Trump needs to fire Wray and get a handle on the FBI with someone who came up in the Ranks and can be trusted! The more Trump starts taking charge of his Administration, the more his numbers will go up. We have been waiting a long time for him to clean house. DO IT!

Deep Staters are so entrenched that it is necessary to fire everyone and start over.

Shakeup is good but what about some convictions for political activism in an attempted coup to overthrow a legally elected President then subvert his presidency. Lets see the perps write their books and memoirs from jail cells not doing tv shows.

FTA: "Maguire is a retired Navy admiral not steeped in the inner workings of the intelligence community..."
Gee! I sincerely hope so. It seems that several of the "deep state" members responsible for the attempted coup d'état (AKA, Russia hoax) are part of the intelligence community. That the Washington Post is endorsing him concerns me.

If the Deep State and the Amazon Post do not like it Coats and Gordon exit is a good thing. We need all documents released before Demosocialist Impeachment Trials begin.

First of all, we shouldn't use the words "government" and "intelligence" in the same sentence. Secondly, and most important, we need to clean out the state department of all holdovers from previous administrations.

Seeing that they are working for the left and other special interests instead of the United States, this has to happen. They are trying to help unseat a duly elected President. These people at the very least deserve to be fired. No doubt some of them should be in jail. Don't be surprised that some of the people let go are people we thought we could trust.

Finally, let the bloodletting of these "deep state" operatives begin. Seeing that Sue Gordon is retiring is a good thing.President Trump and John Bolton require Intel they can use, as well as our allies, like Israel at this time.
