What ever happened to Barack Obama?
For a while there, no modern figure was supposed to be as consequential. It’s difficult to describe the hype in the early days of the Obama era. Time, Newsweek, and countless deep thinkers cast him as a 21st-century Lincoln or FDR. Some literally saw a messianic figure — “The One,” in Oprah Winfrey’s words. Self-help guru Deepak Chopra said Obama represented a “quantum leap in American consciousness.”
George Lucas speculated that he might even be a Jedi.
It was a global phenomenon. In a move that embarrassed Obama himself, the Nobel Committee gave him a Peace Prize on spec

During his "reign", I was certain that by this point in his post-president he'd be on Mount Rushmore and have his own monument erected in D.C.
Seems he can't even get his ugly Library/basketball court built in Chicago. Where's the luv?

The “Magic Negro” has lost his magic. Though most of us here realized that there was never any magic there at all, just melanin.
And Jonah, if Smidgen was so embarrassed he could easily have turned the Nobel down. I’m guessing that Mooch wanted to get her hands on that $million check. They said that they would give it to charity but there has never been any indication that they did.

Interesting problem that the dim party has, what is left of it, that is.
FTA - "The ranks of moderate and conservative Democrats were disproportionately hollowed out under Obama, while Democrats in deep-blue liberal areas were emboldened to move even further left. "
However, the President has to make sure his schtick doesn't have the same effect within the Republican Party meaning there are too many pubbie never-Trumpers in Congress and at the state level. Yes, they can be voted out.

"Obama aspired to be a transformational president, like Reagan. At this point, it’s fair to say that he has succeeded." "this proved to be a mirage"
BO turned out to be a mirage, or perhaps more accurately, a nightmare, for EVERYBODY. BO corrupted the rule of law and the bureaucracy. He riled civil society using false premises and to no good purpose. In the sense that Conservatives are for political and social order, he was an anathema. His action of passing BOCare and his economic policies hurt most of the people he claimed he wanted to help. The rebound from his actions destroyed the dem party. To succeed, he had to get the media to support him and that finished their corruption into a blatantly obvious propaganda tool. He bowed and scraped to world leaders, weakening the US and leaving the world adrift. A transformational leader needs to be effective. BO was incompetent. As the "First Black President" he entered office with high hopes and good will. He squandered it all and then some.
"The Democrats’ migration to the left is not merely a story of ideological or intellectual transformation, though it is that; it’s also the direct consequence of Obama’s presidency."
Well yes. BO showed that a person of the right identity credentials, a smooth jive, and the backing of a failed, corrupt, and propagandist media could weasel their way into the presidency. Any questions about BO's accomplishments and abilities were rebuffed. BO was a know nothing and do nothing before he was elected. He was as a president. He still is. Where is the surprise? An honest look at BO revealed the stagnant worthless character he was and is. The current crop of smurfs shows the thinking of "If a stoner like BO could be president, I can too."
The Left of the dems has always had only one true value, as excited stage props. Can you imagine a cabinet of people wearing pink p***y hats actually running the country? How about a cabinet of masked Antifa thugs? A cabinet of illegal immigrants with no experience of this great Country and no education and no place to live? A cabinet of rioters and looters from off the streets? A cabinet of indoctrinated, jobless grads who are currently living in their parent's basement? A cabinet of "The View" women or Hollyweird morons?
All the dems are laser focused on pandering to these groups who are leeches on society. That is not a strategy for a great nation.

Barack is finally living up to his real name - Smidgen. He assumed the White House through lies and ridiculous promises and couldn't fulfill a single one of them, thank goodness, he would have paved the way for the world to take over an unarmed and bankrupt America. Democrats always lie and over-promise but he stretched it too far. His boot-lickers fell for everything and elected him again thinking that four years was not enough. For most of us it was too much.
As the saying goes, "Like rats from a sinking ship." Barry caused the implosion of the democrat party and that's his only legacy. Maybe we should just thank him.

The left had a lot invested in Barack Hussein Obama, foremost being the title "First Black President". While most voters saw this as a watershed moment in a post racial America, Obama proceeded to use race to bludgeon the entire country with his racial SCUD missiles only succeeding in setting that cause back decades.
The left is still living with the delusion of an Obama presidency but the facts show that he was a dismal failure and only succeeded in making certain that no African American will be in the oval office for possibly decades to come.
When Trump is done with the Obama legacy nothing will be left except for "First Black President" and that's a good thing.

BO was never what he was hyped to be, but as an "African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,"(in Joe Biden's words), he skated into the Presidency of a country whose politics had been poisoned by eight years of relentless unanswered attacks on GWB. He skated through eight years, reading speeches written by other people, letting ValJar run things, while he watched sports and horsed around with Reggie Love. Once he left office, he's continued skating on his undeserved millions joining the Eurotrash set on endless vacations, occasionally giving a vacuous speech for obscene payments. He's too selfish and lazy to do anything for the party that elected and then supported him for eight years. The party is figuring out that they've been taken and they're not happy about it.

Hopefully, the results of the FMD sperm winning the upstream race has inoculated the American voting population against a devastating repeat occurrence for at least a generation.

And some were already measuring him for Mount Rushmore. (BTW, I grieve to say that we better move swiftly to visit the gallant figures on Stone Mountain, the largest bas-relief sculpture in the world. Our domestic Taliban is closing in fast.)

I say you have to give Obama his due. He played everyone, including the left. As a con man, he made it to the top. Whatever an observer WANTED him to be, he mirrored back to them. And the left were the biggest marks of all. Once he got into office and basically just cruised, letting others to the work while he enjoyed the perks while actually doing very little (he had a history of that, if anyone looked hard enough) some on the left noticed and turned on him. The rest are just noticing now. We are looking at a new crop of con artists and grifters now, but the game remains essentially the same. At some point, if we pull back and watch from 30,000 feet, we may appreciate the artistry of the born hustler Obama when compared to this crop of cretins.

Just the fact that obama became elected was a fluke that should never happen again. He was a smidgen and no monuments or even a poster should be worshiped in his honor. Nothing. Our country wasn't made better under his presidency. At all! Not once.!!

Truly hath Obama murdered the Party; and doktor Hillary hath lifted her leg upon the funeral pyre. If there were any Truth left in the world, they would remove the name ''Democrat'' from their letterhead.

#12, I don't think he was ever supposed to be much more than the figure-head, after looking at the whole 8 years.
He didn't actually have a plan, and only days before he'd be sworn in, he mentioned he wanted to fundamentally transform the United States.
He never had to do much in the Illinois state house, or as an Illinois Senator (they were in the Majority his 2 years as a Senator), so he never had to work at compromise or legislation.
Then, he becomes president, and they have the Majority in both the House and Senate, with a veto proof Senate, which allowed the Democrats to do whatever they wanted - and basically they enacted the "stimulus" plan and Obamacare.
He never had an actual budget, but worked on the CR (continuing resolution) process crafted by Harry Reid. And, when Republicans took control, Obama threatened veto on any budget, so they too enacted CR's.
With the economy limping along for 8 years at less than 2% GDP increase, not even Bernie or Hillary campaigned on any successful economy.

The only good thing he did in my opinion was keep the liar Hillary Clinton and her lowlife husband out of the White House. Maybe they wouldn't have screwed this country up as bad as Hussain did, but I'm glad we'll never find out.

Most of us here were never fooled by this phantasmagoric little man. If you're one to be impressed with superficialities, tokens, totems and trinkets, he could impress. Too bad there were enough to elect him twice, and too many amongst the vaunted "Independents", often unthinking, self-important, easily swayed by whatever wind whichever way it blew... and blows.
His accomplishments were of the Potemkin Village sort: all façade, no substance; all hat (on an oversized egomaniacal head), no cattle.
However, he injected a poison into the Body Politic.
P.S.: I nominate Comment #4 as a "Must Read"!

"Obama aspired to be a transformational president, like Reagan. At this point, it’s fair to say that he has succeeded." That he was. Thank heaven he has done much to correct the carnage "Emperor Obama" left in his wake. This, in spite of the deep state's efforts to obstruct and destroy him.
Future generations will look back and consider Obama one of the most self-important, incompetent, and corrupt Presidents in our history,
