Like many World War II veterans, my father didn’t talk much about the war, but he occasionally retold one anecdote that clearly made a strong impression on him at the time. At the end of the war, when it became obvious that the Nazis had lost, thousands of German infantrymen suddenly began appearing at the American lines anxious to surrender. This was less about love for our GIs than fear of the Red Army. And it’s not a bad analogy for what Independents will do in 2020. They are ambivalent about President Trump and the GOP, but they are afraid of the Democrats.

And I hope independents will see that Trump is not afraid to have a relationship with God, humbled with serving the American people, and loving the goodness of our country. That speaks volumes to me.

Unfortunately, instead of voting for President Trump they will choose not to vote. That is easier and too many people take the easy way out lately. This leaves the door open for the crazies, it will be close, in my opinion

In 2018 the Democrat Socialists won through ballot harvesting and fraud. They will redouble efforts in 2020. Reparations, Medicare for all, FoodStamps, public housing, open borders not good ideas for working Americans but we have huge population of unmarried Democrats dependent on freebies.

I think it is pretty clear that the entire group of Dem candidates have moved so far to the deranged left that a huge number of normal people will not be able to support their political agenda.
But, it is disappointing that 52 percent of independents are such economic ignoramuses that they support a $15 minimum wage. Apparently they never even think about where that money has to come from.

Sounds to me that the indies crave a morally straight constitutional republic. Why wouldn't they. Not sure that I agree with Catron's view that indies are "ambivalent about President Trump and the GOP". Perhaps more ambivalence only toward the GOP due to ineffective to non-existent messaging. I think everyone should be afraid of the dims who are clearly off the rails now. Even the dims' political consultants must have the deer in the headlights look as they watch their candidates perform.

Part of Trump's vote in 2016 was hatred of Hillary.
The dems are making themselves feared by their craziness PLUS Trump has answered a LOT of questions that made people nervous in 2016. He WILL govern as a Conservative. He WILL appoint great judges. He CAN be VERY successful in the economic arena. He CAN manage foreign policy. He WILL fight for us and win. He IS presidential in his official actions. He delivers some GREAT speeches. He DOES govern lawfully. He DID lower taxes. He DID start the wall and is looking for immigration solutions. He USES the military when necessary VERY effectively.
This fear of dems plus Trump's great success could line up for a solid win. There are still a lot of unhinged voters so how big a win is uncertain. You can almost guarantee that the polls are going to be WAY off. People will vote for Trump but not want to talk about it because liberals are crazy dangerous.

Happily, I am not subscribed, nor did I hit a barrier. But I am inclined to change my voter registration to Independent so I can ride along on the rising tide. (But that was a momentary whim). Great article, and easy to follow.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. There is another option...sit out. And I suspect many will. There will be much happening between now and then, mostly all of it targeted to derail any Trump re-election.

Let us pray that he does. I don't want to see our great country turn into Venezuela.

Trump supporters should add a PSA (Public Service Announcement) that reminds people,
"Staying home on election day is a vote for the communist take over of our government"

I am afraid of ballot fraud, too. Here in Arizona, 400,000 "uncounted" votes were suddenly discovered on election day in Maricopa County (Phoenix), changing a senate race from Republican to Democrat.

Start working at home with Google! It's by-far the best job I've had. Last Wednesday I got a brand new BMW since getting a check for $6474 this - 4 weeks past. I began this 8-months ago and immediately was bringing home at least $77 per hour. I work through this link, go to home tab for more detail ... >>> www.works7.com

Independents he will win but Blacks and Jews no way. Blacks may stay home, but if they go to the polls will vote 90% Democrat. Jews will go to the polls futifully and vote 70-t5% Dem. In fact when the antifa and CAIR are loading them onto cattle cars and Ilhan Omar is playing conductor they will be asking for absentee ballots to vote Democrat. I don't understand it, but that is the way it is in the Jewish community.

Very well written article, I especially like the analogy of surrendering to the GIs to avoid the Red Army.
But I’m gonna quibble with a few of my fellow L’dotters posters here…
#3 & 9, I think it more likely the moderate Dems sit it out than the Independents, the Independents voted in 2016 and #7 gives several reasons why. Those reasons were all wildcards in 2016 but have been affirmatively answered now. That will comfort both the Independents to go out in far larger numbers for Trump, and the moderate Dems to sit it out rather than vote for a Commie nominee.
#14 while you may be right, he won’t win a majority of blacks and Jews, but he will win a lot more than he won in 2016, and many more will sit it out before voting for the Commie nominee. Look what he’s done for the black, Jewish and every other minority community!
I’m looking forward to seeing these “lame duck” years, I think it will be one of the most productive lame duck Presidencies in our history.
