Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D) signed legislation requiring every single-occupancy bathroom in public buildings in the state to be labeled gender neutral.Under Senate Bill 556, also dubbed the “The Equitable Restrooms Act,” all single-occupancy restrooms “in a place of public accommodation or public building shall be identified as all-gender and designated for use by no more than one person at a time or for family or assisted use,” the law states.“Each single-occupancy restroom shall be outfitted with exterior signage that marks the single-occupancy restroom as a restroom

You mean they weren't already? This sounds like a lot of fluff about nothing. Most small business only have a single bathroom for their customers.

I’m so proud of Illinois for working so hard on this life changing law. Since they’ve proven themselves able to do the heavy lifting, fixing their crushing deficits should be a cake walk.

Hey, let's just put a hole in the ground and make everyone squat! That's fair! We don't want to be all civilized and have nice things, do we? Noooooo, we HAVE to cater to the sexually and mentally confused. Don't want to look meeeeean. Did the 'public' have a say on what to do with 'public building' bathrooms? Nooooooo, they're too stupid to have an opinion, right? In the meantime, establishments with men's rooms and ladies' rooms should start advertising 'Dedicated Ladies' Rooms, for the comfort of women and young girls'. And 'Men Only Restrooms'. It would be a luxury, but shouldn't be in this modern day. Stupid Illinois. And don't give me 'but an airplane restroom is open to everyone.' That's disgusting too.

Illinois has had a head start down the rathole for years but they are now trying to catch up to California in citizen control, socialism, spending and liberal time-wasting. Move out now, people, before the real bills come due.

I gues this will make The Illinois legislature feel good about themselves. It is nothing more than fluff since all single bathrooms (ie) the bathrooms in your doctors waiting room are already used that way. Should they be doing something with their time like working on the murder rate in Chicago instead?

The thing is, when you see SOME of these legislators in public hearings, you realize that some of them are dumb as posts, so I am not surprised that they create a law to cover a problem that does not exist.
Aren't they at all concerned about the murder rate in Chicago?

I'll bet the signage will be hilarious. The women's only sign but a third middle leg out of the dress. Maybe the old nautical theme "Inboards and Outboards Welcome Here".

Duh. It stands to reason that, if there is one single-occupancy bathroom in a public building, it will be gender neutral. This will make big new biz for the company(ies) that makes the signs for the foors - the ones with the paperdoll symbols for woman and man.
In Europe, most businesses have one single-occupancy bathroom, and it is understood that persons of either sex may use it… I don’t recall signs.
Pritzker is not a brain trust. Lots of money, but weak on brains and pathetically homely, as I recall… The image of a fat-cat politician…all he needs is a big fat cigar...

Worthless "virtue signaling" (look how wonderful I am by doing this!") that is virtually useless as it only applies to "single" bathrooms. Well, duh! Hard to use a toilet someone else is using. You lock the door behind you --- usually.
In real life, any bathroom is used by everyone when need calls.
The issue I, and others like me fight over, is "multi-use" bathrooms. Those restrooms with more than one stall next to another one with more than one stall. Those shouldn't be blended. And in the high school gym --- where there are 4 stalls and showers --- the trannies need to stay in the bathroom that corresponds with what their body is --- not what they wish.

Yawn. This is the case already in most single use bathrooms that I encounter in hospitals and retail stores. I find that gentlemen raise the seat as they are supposed to~~. Please do NOT take #12's advice. That just punishes women; especially those of us with small children who like to touch everything. Why is this even news?????

Illinois is ruled by a Mafia-Democrat junta based out of Cook County (Chicago).......the rest of the state has no say whatever in what the Gov't does. Hopefully Trump gets re-elected so the Feds can complete their work ridding us of Boss Madigan and putting an end to the One Party rule that has pretty much destroyed Illinois.
