Why AOC is the Taylor Swift
of the Democratic Party

Original Article

We should have seen this coming: After less than a year in office, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez already has become the most tediously predictable person in politics. Ocasio-Cortez, the would-be Taylor Swift of the Democratic Party, habitually dismisses her critics and those of her “Squad” — as the four new champagne radicals in the House call themselves — as racists and sexists. Nancy Pelosi, the leader of her party in the House, is only the latest target of this strategy. Pelosi, she says, habitually singles out “newly elected women of color” such as herself for criticism. It is, AOC says, part of a pattern. Which is, ironically, part of a pattern.

It is tempting to tell the Squad to grow the hell up, but the unfortunate truth is that doing so probably would cost them votes. That’s the danger of the Twitterverse. - it is treated as real news. It’s as vacuous as AOC herself but it makes news.

Yes, like any up and coming 'show biz' celebrity she has a carefully crafted image. Just look at her clothes, her hair, her make up - the lipstick sexually signaling! Go to Breitbart and look at the picture of that perfectly tailored & 'under-stated' dress she wore last week when she demanded to be 'sworn in'! Talk about a scene right out of a 'soap opera'! As Williamson points out so well, all these girls immediately take offense at any criticism of the stupid and wrong headed policies they present. What should be a matter simple disagreement they not only take as a personal insult but also as an attack on all women & all non-Caucasians etc. etc. They use the fact that they are women & of a slightly tanned 'skin tone' as a shield to hide behind as well as a weapon to bludgeon their opponents.

The New York Times fudged book sales data in order to deny top-five billing to the best-selling “Justice on Trial,” the definitive and deeply reported account of the nomination and confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, which was written by Carrie Severino and Mollie Hemingway, a Senior Editor for The Federalist. Industry sales figures show that the New York Times ignored actual data on nationwide sales in order to depress the rankings not just for the Hemingway/Severino book, but also Mark Levin’s latest book on the corruption of modern journalism. According to Publisher’s Weekly, the only public source of point-of-sale data on book sales, “Justice on Trial,”

A Reminiscence- Three provocations in my life have impelled me to to use my hands and related limbs to resolve a disagreement. Back in my college years, I rode two New York subway trains and a bus for the 90-minute Friday trip home from Columbia University in upper Manhattan to spend every Shabbat (Sabbath) with my mom and sisters in Brooklyn. (Dad, of blessed memory, had passed away from leukemia when I was 14.) I then traveled back to campus every Sunday evening. While on the trains, I used the time to do the never-ending reading assignments for my college courses. One Sunday night on the train

In the early hours on Saturday, police in Tacoma, Wash., rushed to the local Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility. An armed man was firebombing the building and nearby vehicles. Police killed him in a shootout after he attempted to set off a large propane tank connected to the facility. Antifa social media accounts subsequently identified their fallen “comrade” as Willem Van Spronsen. The underreported incident marks a new chapter in the return of armed left-wing terrorism to the United States. It also triggered a flash of memory in my mind: I had crossed paths with Van Spronsen in December, when a group of rifle-carrying antifa militiamen

Chevrolet isn’t just shifting the new Corvette Stingray into a higher gear. It’s getting rid of the stick shift altogether. A dramatic redesign of the iconic sports car includes eliminating its manual transmission — and replacing it with an eight-speed, dual-clutch configuration that’s akin to what high-end racers like Ferrari, Lamborghini and McLaren use. The new transmission performs “lightning-fast shifts and excellent power transfer,” General Motors’ Chevrolet division said as it unveiled the 2020 Corvette at a splashy event Thursday night in Orange County, Calif.

Robert Francis O’Rourke is white. If it’s any consolation, he’s very sorry about that. “Beto” has been running from his Irish ancestry for some time now. Long before the Left fell headlong into the logical termini of its triune fascination with race, power, and privilege, O’Rourke sensed that there was a currency to be had in becoming “Beto” rather than “Robert Francis.” For one, the latter was imbued with a stench of Gaelic papism that made him sound more like a rosary-wielding Catholic school boy than a dyed-in-the-wool radical. More damning for a would-be Democratic upstart, though, were the privileges that attended to his birth name:

The mood of left-wing Democrats might be neatly summarized by the media coverage of last weekend’s Netroots Nation conference. The progressive left seems poised to consign former President Barack Obama to the dustbin of history. Moreover, supposedly woke agitators do not seem to care how their exercise might affect black voters who comprise a crucial part of their 2020 electoral strategy. According to Vox, “Progressive activists know their enemy in the 2020 Democratic primary: Joe Biden.” As Vox notes, “Some activists at Netroots conceded they would support Biden in a general election if they had no other choice.” Dean Obeidallah of CNN and The Daily Beast finds this concession

A few years ago, I lived in a walkup apartment in the East Village of New York. Every so often descending the stairway, I would catch a glimpse of a particular family with young children in its Sisyphean attempts to reach the fourth floor. The mom would fold the stroller to the size of a boogie board, then drag it behind her with her right hand, while cradling the younger and typically crying child in the crook of her left arm. Meanwhile, she would shout hygiene instructions in the direction of the older child, who would slap both hands against every other grimy step to use her little arms

Man ascended to the glorious heavens and sank to the murky depths 50 years ago this weekend. The juxtaposition serves as a metaphor for modern times, when our technology races to infinity and beyond as our behavior periodically knuckle-drags toward barbarism. On July 20, 1969, Apollo 11 landed on the moon, and a few hours later, on July 21, Neil Armstrong, and then Buzz Aldrin, bounced on the regolith-over-rock surface of our only natural satellite. They spent more than 21 hours walking on the moon. The hard part followed the pedestrian part. The Eagle took off, linked up with the Apollo 11 command module in lunar orbit,

It’s hard to take braying morons like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the Terrorist Cheerleader Twins seriously, but maybe we should. After all, these aspiring dictatorettes are the heart, soul, and perpetually open mouth of today’s Democrat Party. We kind of assume they are jokes because, well, they are jokes, but history teaches that the socialist future they advocate is no laughing matter. They are now setting the agenda for one of America’s two great political parties. What would happen if they somehow took power? Not so funny anymore, huh? The Jeffrey Epstein case is an asteroid poised to strike the elite world in which he moved. No one can yet say precisely how large it is. But as the number of women who’ve accused the financier (at least, that’s what he claimed to be) of sexual assault grows to grotesque levels—there are said to be more than 50 women who are potential victims—a wave of panic is rippling through Manhattan, DC, and Palm Beach, as Epstein’s former friends and associates rush to distance themselves, while gossiping about who might be ensnared. Washington- I preside from time to time over a supper club called the Saturday Evening Club. It meets in Washington and occasionally in New York. I shall not name the party that abstains from my invitation, or, for that matter, I shall not name the party that often responds to my invitation. We must be fair-minded. As dollar stores sweep across America, they are facing growing scrutiny from opponents who argue that discount chains stifle local competition and limit poor communities' access to healthy food. Dollar stores have never been more popular. Yet a wave of cities and towns have passed laws curbing the expansion of Dollar General and Dollar Tree, which bought Family Dollar in 2015. The companies are the two largest dollar store operators in the country, combining for more than 30,000 stores throughout the United States, up from under 20,000 a decade ago. By comparison, Walmart, America's largest retailer, has 4,700 US stores.

Cops were dispatched Monday night to the Albertsons Market in Odessa, where they viewed security camera footage showing the boy picking up the drink, putting his mouth on it and then putting it back, CBS 7 reported. The teen confessed to the store’s asset protection manager and police that he took a swig of the beverage, spit in it and then put it back because it was “gross,” according to the report.
