The national restaurant industry is bracing for a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement operation that could round up hundreds of migrant families that have received deportation orders. Restaurant owners and worker advocates hope the operation, planned to start on Sunday, will not disrupt an industry already hurting for staff, or broaden into a wider investigation of employees not on the Trump administration's deportation lists.President Donald Trump announced on Monday that the roundups would move forward despite debate within the administration over the potential humanitarian issues (separating children from their parents) and political fallout (alienating Democrats as Congress debates a $4.6 billion supplemental aid package

Law enforcement in LA and other states are telling the migrants who have been ordered deported by a legal arrest warrant to stay in their houses where only a judicial search warrant allows law enforcement to enter. If they stay in their houses to avoid arrest they will not be at work and will eventually lose their jobs. It will only be a matter of time before ICE intercepts them on the street or going to some public place so I don't think the advice to stay in your house is actually helping the situation. Why didn't the Democrats work out some compromise with Trump during last month's delay in the raids like they said they would do? Aren't they ultimately responsible for the chaos that is occurring?

Every person (interloper) and his or her family hangers-on that gets sent back home will allow one person born here a chance at a job, even a bottom tier job. Some people born here think they are too good to do such menial labor, but a job is a job.

Gosh I hope so.
Frankly, ICE should raid EVERY SINGLE restaurant and check out ALL their employees.
Dammit, the laws should be followed.

I can sympathize up to a point. I just saw the work of an American plumber and it was beyond sad. One fitting broke because it was overtightened, there were four leaks and absolutely nothing was square or level. All understandable if it was done by an apprentice, but where was the journeyman who should have been teaching him and checking his work?
I want a garage built but am afraid because of all the sloppy and crooked contractors. Bad work is bad enough. but worse if you have to pay top dollar for it.

I lost count how many Hepatitis scares we have had at local restaurants in the past decade. Cheap labor from countries where cleanliness is not a high priority puts us all at risk.

So, cheap labor restaurants are already whining. Too bad; so sad (not). You can bet your last dollar the owners knew their precious cheap labor had deportation orders. They should be arrested for aiding and abetting criminals.

Why do they keep announcing the raids all day every day to warn them ? Sounds like GW when he kept saying how long before our soldiers were in Iraq.
If you are not doing anything illegal, what is the fear ? Everybody, including Congress, protecting illegal aliens is a bit much with taxpayer's money.

#2 These illegals have gone through the due process, denied stay and have Judge’s orders for deportation. There is no reason for a compromise

#20 is right. This is NOT a round up of illegal immigrants. It's not the familiar old workplace raid.
The people targeted have received orders of deportation. They've been processed and a judge has issued a court order to leave. (I know, I being redundant here, but the open borders people want to paint this as a mass round-up, which it's not.)

Other posters please note:
These people have already had their multiple hearings, used up tens-of-thousands of taxpayers' dollars being prosecuted and using free (for them) lawyers, etc. and were ORDERED by a FEDERAL JUDGE to leave the USA in 30 days and return to their country of origin, not the county jail! No fine, no jail. Once back where they belong, they can still apply for amnesty, a proper visa, etc. and basically get in line to come back the right way!
Sorry but my give a damn is broken. How many millions of tax dollars have been sucked up by these leeches in the 5 to 15 years they have been here?
I'm willing to give up going to all of my favorite restaurants for a year --- heck they can shut down completely --- to get this issue solved.
Lastly, imagine how well off our military veterans would all be if they got half the attention, money and effort expended by the Left on illegal aliens!

Well, by all means, if the restaurant industry is on edge then stop these raids immediately, give the restaurant industry coloring books, puppies, hot chocolate and some safe spaces.
And 9, learn to do it yourself and if you need to, move to a city that allows home owners to pull permits and do the work themselves, including plumbing, electrical, framing, etc. (Sounds like your city inspectors are as clueless as your plumbers). You CAN do it right, pass city inspections, and save tens of thousands of dollars in labor costs.

As far as I'm concerned, the restaurant workers are secondary in importance to ridding ourselves of those fat families with bunches of children who sit home and collect food stamps and all of the other bennies meant for poor Americans. I'm sure they didn't live off the taxpayers in their home countries.

Human Trafficking is a euphemism for Slavery. The Thirteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution says, No Slavery in the U.S. This should actually be the end of the debate and the beginning of corrective action.

A particular social group historically uses their left hand to clean themselves after a bowel movement. Given that, none of them are suitable for employment in food processing. Why do you think there's been an upswing for tainted food illnesses?

You can bet that the restaurants that have not hired illegal aliens have no problem with ICE going about their business enforcing the law by arresting and deporting illegal aliens.

I have zero sympathy for employers who hire illegals and then take a hit when la Migra shows up and hauls off their workforce. It only takes a minute to run a prospective hire through E-verify and if he comes back hinky just say adios. If Congress had any cajones, we'd have legislation that fines the crap out out of employers who hire mojados. Cheap illegal workers severely punish American workers by stealing jobs and depressing wages.
