Republicans are facing an early headache of nightmare primary fights as they plot to keep control of the Senate. In Alabama and Kansas, two deep-red states that should be safe GOP seats, the party is facing bids from conservatives Roy Moore and Kris Kobach, respectively, who are viewed as unelectable in a general election and have a history of stealing the national spotlight.

Roy Moore, notwithstanding. . .
Gloria Alred must be legally compelled to release that yearbook or face some serious consequences.

Ordinarily, I would cheer for someone starting out a new job at the age of 72, but not in Judge Moore's case. He has a few laurels, I suggest that he rest upon those.

Notice how in the lede the Republicans "plot to keep control of the Senate." I looked up the article history of this Carney person, and it turns out she writes about 4 articles each day, all on Congressional politics. Funny tho, the headlines aren't too bad but the content is rife with loaded words like "plot."
I suppose she's so biased that she thinks she is being even handed, even while unconciously inserting those loaded words. Probably was taught them in Journo school: "And remember class, Democrats strive, Republicans plot!"

Maybe the republican Establishmeny should stop sabotaging candidates, their voters selected? When you consider the trash the Dems keep electing, I don't find Moore that objectionable. Kobach is literally unknown to me, except through mainstream media, which I find totally untrustworthy.

I love Kris Kobach but if he might lose to a dem I won’t support him. Keeping the senate is more important than one person.

On the other hand, the status quo hasn't worked worth a damn. If this is not the time to change the linen, when will it be ? Go for it.

Do not concern yourself with Alabama... Moore is polling badly here and will not win the Republican primary. Not only that, Jones is getting beat by practically any GOP candidate, other than Moore. I think most republican's have learned their lesson this time around and when President Trump speaks as to whom he wants to see run on the republican ticket, we will listen and pull their lever. Now, Kansas, I don't know what's happening there, but with President Trump on the ticket in 2020 - the republican will win in Alabama and Kansas... even it the candidate is a brown paper bag!

GOP must quit the obsession of playing not to lose. They will find much more support taking the battle to the Democrats.

I suppose one can give PDT full credit for the election of one Mitt Romney.
This is the GOPe in action, like last time, taking care of its own.
