On the Fourth of July, Representative Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) marked Independence Day by tweeting an article from the progressive news outlet Salon, condemning the Declaration of Independence because the document “did not condemn slavery, protect the rights of women or include Native Americans.”In her post, Rep. Pressley tweets an article, entitled “Fourth of July’s Ugly Truth: The Declaration of Independence is Sexist, Racist and Prejudiced,” quoting its criticism of the nation’s Founding Fathers: “Our Founding Fathers were not the living gods

They're U.S. Congresswomen you say? Why? If they condemn our history and protest our country, should they be on its payroll? In the real world, they'd be fired in a heartbeat. What hypocrites!

Does she think "all men are created equal" means only males. She sounds dumb enough to. However, how is that statement sexist, racist or prejudicial. I guess she expected Jefferson to enumerate different types of "men." What a loser.

I recall 1776 perfectly. Nations around the world had abolished slavery and given full rights to women. But for some reason, the racist scum founding fathers were so blinded by their hatred that they refused to grant equal rights to slaves, women, Native Americans, and the transgender community.

This person is sexist, racist and stupid. Judging 18th century people by the standards of "liberal" political correctness is the height of ignorance. Judge them rather by the standards of the day and they were sublimely liberal and produced documents and a political philosophy that however many the shortcomings of the individuals produced an ongoing striving for individual freedom of choice and liberty for all peoples and nationalities. It was white folks who paid in blood and money to free the enslaved first in our own country and then throughout the world over the two hundred forty some years since. It is the party that this woman freely associates with that fought for the enslavement of her race, who pushed Jim Crow laws that kept the black citizens of the nation in political bondage for another hundred years, it is the party she is a willing part of that produced the KKK as a wing of white terrorist activities that kept political power in the hands of the whites in the south. I would point out that the Republicans were the party that pushed successfully for the voting rights bills of the late fifties and mid sixties.

It's stupid and ridiculous beyond hope, yes, but it's not funny.
It's not funny because even though kids are expected to be stupid they're not expected to be empowered, you know?
The little idiots who listen to this crap fancy themselves heroes; they fancy themselves as such because nobody is setting them straight.
Nobody is setting them straight because in many cases the parents and g-parents are equally ridiculous.
I live in California and I know what I'm talking about I assure you. Heaven knows the schools aren't helping.
This is serious business. Serious business and maybe already too far tipped into the next Dark Age.

Nobody said the Founding Fathers were living gods. They were pioneers with a firm set of beliefs. The beliefs led to the creation of a formidable nation. The documents created were not meant to be sops to identity politics.

Actually "Native Americans" are included in the Declaration where it says that the King "....endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions".

Even worse The Declaration of Independence doesn't address the right of aliens exiting flying saucers to have Medicare, Crop Circles in the shape of women's private parts, bathrooms for trans gendered octopuses, and requiring female squirrels to wear a hijab. Time to hop on your camel and head back to the land of Sharia Law.

We have tolerated this war on America and this is the fruit. Rather bitter isn't it? They ridiculed the claims of enemies within bas the communists filled the ranks. They desecrated our flag and our high court said that was okay. Then their progeny got a pass by enrolling in college funded by student loans by going to college when our best and brightest served. That gave then a big leg up over those who served. Those who served came back years behind in seniority and schooling - tough to play catch-up. Then they turned on the veterans. They we allowed public employee unions and guaranteed civil servants job security. That was important because is who has the real power today. Like spoiled children whose mommies and daddies gave them everything they ever wanted we have created a mess. Those children hated the veteran and America and were taught all about the universities and college about the wonders of communism. Our primary and secondary schools are now nurseries for the communists. Our system has been corrupted. It happened in steps and it happened because the steps were small enough that it was not worth fighting over. And it still is. Look at this shining example of how blatant it has become. Now there is talk of civil war. President Trump is trying to gets us back on track. Pray for him.

In one of the original drafts of the Declaration of Independence Jefferson explicitly calls for the abolition of slavery and the immediate deportation of all former slaves back to their country of origin. He objected to freeing any one of his own slaves and only supported the complete dissolution of the practice. This draft was on display at the New York Library over the 4th. Too bad he got overruled by the Declaration committee and dropped the clause in the final version. It would have avoided the Civil War and much other suffering.

I would recommend the last 20 minutes of "1776." The first step was independence, then the setting up of a system to allow unlimited improvements in the future--if enough people wanted them. Our founders did what no one had ever done before: separated from their mother country. To ding them now because they didn't fix EVERYthing future generations might want is a ridiculous standard to hold them to. Only idiots would think that's o.k.

Might I suggest the perpetually aggrieved do us all a favor and just LEAVE! Go back to the land of your ancestors and see how much priority your petty whining and complaining get in countries where death by voodoo witch doctor wackos, religious zealots, terrorizing warlords, curable communicable diseases, and even malnutrition are still common place. Then get back to us about how oppressive freedom, peace, and sanitation are.

Looking back at history through the lens of today is the height of ignorance. It ignores the fact of growth that societies all experience. What was condemned now, was commonplace in history. It is a fact of life. We learn and grow and that is why civilization evolved. This is just pandering on steroids. History is there as a warning and as a lesson to be learned. We learn from our mistakes, change behavior and move on. Constantly beating ourselves up over the past does nothing, but when you learn from your mistakes and correct them that is when progress is made. These virtue signaling nitwits believe continual self-flagellation will right all wrongs which is nonsense. Admitting a mistake or wrong doing and turning away from such behavior is the mark of progress. Perpetual penance is foolish and harmful.

Ms Ayanna is a member of the party that gave us slavery, Civil war, segregation, Jim Crow, and presently runs a political plantation for black folks, but, she thinks if she shouts loud enough, she will be able to pull off a coverup.

The founding fathers may not be 'gods' but they sure were smarter than this ignoramus. For the life of me I'll never understand why the left hates this country so much. It's history, the Constitution, everything is offensive to them. Why is this Pressley person in Congress if she hates the Constitution which is in her oath to the office she holds? In our passed history there use to mental hospital some may know them as lunatic asylums now they get elected to Congress and hold government jobs and make statements like this.

FTA: some of their flaws had terrible consequences for people who were not fortunate enough to be born into privileged groups
Yet, millions and millions of people not born into privileged groups, both native born and immigrant, have pulled themselves up by their bootstraps, worked both smarter and harder, and earned their way to prosperity.
I'm not saying it was easy, but when was the last time someone was introduced--proudly--as a self-made success?

Try instead, you are a massively uninformed, ignorant product of the propaganda your fellow Democracts call an education system. You dont think critically.
