In the wake of a violent, Saturday, June 29 political rally that provoked nationwide attention, the Portland Police Bureau and Mayor Ted Wheeler found themselves, once again, playing defense. Everyone from a U.S. senator to the president of the local GOP piled on criticism, with many wondering how only three people could be arrested during the sprawling, six-hour-long duel between conservative Proud Boys and the black-clad anti-fascists fighters known as Antifa.
Daryl Turner, president of the Portland Police Association union, called on the mayor to kick both sides out of the city and "remove the handcuffs from our officers."

... it's okay to throw milkshakes at people as long as there's no cement or acid in them. The Portland Police should make out a list of things that can't be included in "milkshakes" that are thrown at people without their consent.

So the mayor of a city can tell the police to stand back. The mayor! Where is the sheriffs department. Do they not have authority over the police dept. and this shows the mayor is using his office for his own political beliefs instead of what is best for his city. He should run for dem President. He qualifies.
Get him out of office.

No #1. It isn't okay to throw anything at someone else, no matter what it is. Not only is it illegal, it's just plain wrong.
How can you say it's okay to do it? Talk about "defining deviancy down"!

These aren't milkshakes. I have never had milkshake with acidic wet fast drying cement . Let's call it what they are... acid or chemical attack weapons.

Hey Daryl: You don't have to wait for permission from the mayor to do your job! Assuming you are/have been a policeman, instead of just a union hack, you swore an oath to serve and protect. The mayor is wrong, and you are wrong to comply with his direction. If the police are concerned with nothing more than keeping their jobs, while shirking their sworn duty, they have no honor left. If they had any honor, they would do their jobs in spite of threats from politicians! Either that, or they would leave the force.

Physically assaulting an innocent person is not creating controversy, it is perpetrating a crime!

Does a group have to apply for a permit to protest in a city. I would think so. If so WHY give them one? What is the reason the city should take on the Liability of handing out the permit where many will be injured? Why not simply refuse ALL requests for permits! If Antifa wants to riot, arrest them. And how about passing an Ordinance forbidding anyone to cover their face when protesting. What in the world is wrong with the Cities that allow this to happen and on top of that they pull their POLICE out of there. I would sue them for millions if I were one of those injured in this so called protest (better known as a Riot)!

It looks like Wheeler is trying to become a leader in high command of a terrorist organization.

How is Portland today different than Mississippi and Alabama from the 1950s and 60s when the Civil Rights of Americans were violated? How is Antifa different than Hitler's SA, the Brownshirts, in the 1930s targeting Jews and Jewish owned businesses? We have a major American city where the Mayor has let loose the cowards who hide behind masks! At least the Brownshirts, as despicable as they were, didn't hide their identities!
