When Colin Kaepernick objected, Nike stopped selling shoes that were a tribute to Betsy Ross, a woman legend of the American Revolution. Now that will cost the company millions in incentives Arizona offered to snag a Nike plant.
It will cost the state 500 jobs.
More than a million soldiers have died defending that flag that Nike turned its back on.
The shoe featured the flag that legend holds designed the flag. That seems to be based on family lore.
But she did more for America than any of today's quarterbacks did.

Question for the Tom Perez and the DNC-
I consider myself a Democrat in good standing. Based on recent debates and other events in the news like this Nike thing, am I still allowed to celebrate Independence Day? Just asking.

Betsy Ross was considered a heroine when I was in school. I guess strong women still frighten the left.

I can't wear Nikes since they are cut on such a narrow last that my toes are squeezed. I don't have a wide foot either. I switched to New Balance a long time ago and am glad I did.

Nike was probably going to hire all illegals anyway to keep the profits coming so real citizens didn't lose a red cent.

I think the point is that a dirt bag, US hating, low life can dictate to a big corporation we're in deep sheet.

Sounds like old Colin equates the Betsy Ross flag to the Confederate flag. Wondering which American flag is acceptable to you Colin?

What exactly is so offensive to Kapernick about the flag by Betsy Ross? I'm not sure, but don't think she owned slaves. Kapernick just likes to complain and throw his weight around with Nike because they are afraid of the monster they have created by featuring him in ads. Why anyone listens to him regarding anything is beyond me.

In that case, Its only fair that Nike cuts all ties to the Demon-Rat Party!!!
There is nothing more closely tied to slavery in the history of this country than the Demon-Rat Party!!! They own slavery!!!
Thanks for setting such a responsible and fair precedence!!!!!!!

#8 Not only did Betsy Ross not own slaves, as a Quaker, Betsy Ross was an abolitionist.
In fact, the Quakers were the backbone of the Underground Railroad.

The road to respecting human dignity and equality (of value not necessarily capability) across the boundaries, of gender and race has been a long journey. To disparage the courageous people who risked everything to move that forward one step at a time because they didn't reverse the course of human history in one giant leap is Atrocious. The genuine heroes of that journey are all to be revered for what they accomplished not chastised for, for what they didn't do. Talk about arrogant ungrateful twits. We wouldn't have had a civil rights movement without the advancements of slave holding American Revolutionaries.
And the very people who scoff at the American flag are the champions of reversing the journey of human dignity and sovereignty in the name of "progress." They in fact are clamouring for a more ancient form of subjugation.
In classic American fashion of the time I believe the Betsy Ross story as handed down contains a great deal of liberty with the facts while simultaneously ignoring more impressive truths. We were a new nation desperately seeking a common new history, pardon the contradiction, independent of our British history and anxious to seize upon a good story that advanced our new identity.

“ So women waste money." Men have been saying this from the dawn of time. Nike is nuked; no one is happy, 'as you 'sew', so shall you reap.' ”

I don't believe that Betsy Ross cost Nike one cent.
I believe that Nike's idiocy cost them a lot.

Nike’s most recent quarterly shareholders’ report highlighted booming sales in Asia, so I guess the ChiCom flag is more appropo.

Whether Nike realizes it or not, the Arizona subsidies will mean nothing compare to the number of customers Nike will lose.

Maybe instead of the Continental Colors, Nike constructed, they should consider Wokou swords, or pirate flags. People like Colin Kaepernick know little about American history, much less about Chinese history. Further, it is my hope the organization which originally sponsored Kaepernick and his ilk end in the basement of the bankruptcy dungeon. That means every team, every player and every owner. Those are NOT the people who died to make America free and brave.

I think Nike engineered this so we'd all be talking about them again. We already knew it was a garbage anti-American company so there's nothing new here. We should stop giving them the attention they want.
