Pilot who cheated death

Original Article

Marine Corps UH-1Y pilot Capt. Brian Jordan was low on fuel when he heard a frantic plea. Two British soldiers had been hit by a Taliban Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and were at death’s door. It was June 21, 2012, in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. Jordan had had a busy week of flying missions when he learned that a small unit of British Grenadier Guards were pinned down under heavy enemy fire. They needed an urgent MEDEVAC.

Lots of brave folks in that event Glad it turned out as well as it did. I have a USMC pilot in the family, but fixed wing. He has been working over ISIS with bombs. The Captain did a real good, brave deed that day, saved two lives.

A long story with a lot of technical stuff, but well worth the read. Poster #3, my nephew is an Osprey pilot. He looks like he's about 15yrs old when we get pictures of him in his plane. Being a Marine was all he wanted to be since he was a young boy.

Watching the British TV series, “Lark Rise to Candleford,” the other evening, we once again were rewarded with homilies and life lessons that seem to have disappeared in today’s world of irony. This time the show offered us “Before a man can know, he must be willing to know.” A statement so very true as President Trump navigates new foreign policy waters. The politically correct policies of the past. The demands for doing things as we have done them is going unheeded. President Trump is looking at US foreign adversaries in the eyes and saying “we can all live better, join us.”

Often historians and the media that rely on them, will speak of the “Founding Fathers.” Almost as if they are gods. We quote them. Argue the meanings of their arguments and writings. Nonetheless, the same people will, in the next moment cheer a concept diametrically opposed to that same quote. The mob rule of government. Most of the Founders were scholarly, erudite men. Our founders were not only writers but readers of the great teachers of bygone eras. Not only did they search the Bible, but the classic works of teachers and students of Grecian and Roman governmental innovation.

Whatever your politics, Kamala Harris had a good night in Miami. Her performance in Part 2 of the first Democratic debate was well-planned, carefully executed, ruthless and impressive. The herd of Democratic candidates for the presidency is astonishingly large. Watching them gather in Miami was like watching a herd of wildebeest descend on a water hole. How can there be so many? How can they all survive?

Evolving from a crusade for equal legal and property rights for women in the late 18th and early 19th century, the journey toward what we call feminism coalesced around the voting rights “suffragette” movements in America, the UK and elsewhere. But modern feminism, the current century’s radicalized version of women’s drive for equal rights, has become a radical leftist cult.

Each Democrat candidate seems to try and top each of the others with a proposal for more free stuff. From health care to college to guaranteed income, the free that resonates with the mini-mob of the day. President Trump says its a race to who can give away the most stuff, and raise taxes the most. Voters are overwhelmed with an onslaught of vote for me and get it free.Freedom from debt, or the need to sow what you reap, now replaces our Constitutional Freedoms as a talking point.

It’s no secret to anyone paying attention that the liberalism of the left and all its virtues control America’s West Coast. However, the warm and fuzzy “progressive” aura that seems so attractive to unschooled is a sham. Sadly, to such voters, the phrase “somebody said so” is often the only proof they need to justify their ballot choices. But, as has is far too evident here in Seattle and in Los Angeles, such myopia has a price. The price of the Left in Charge.

The Trump – Pence campaign set a $7 million fundraising goal for the day of the President’s Election 2020 announcement in Orlando, Fla. In a fundraising memo to supporters, President Trump writes: “I want to do something so HUGE to launch 2020, even Democrats and the Fake News won’t be able to ignore. We need to raise $7,000,000 by 11:59 PM TONIGHT.” Instead, raising nearly $25 million, the President won bigly in his first day of official campaign fundraising. In perspective $25 million is more than what each of the top five candidates for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination raised combined in the first 24 hours after they launched their campaigns.

It’s sometimes hard to know if the folks at The New York Times are simply trolling us or if they’re completely serious. Times reporter Kevin Roose spun quite a yarn last Sunday entitled, “The Making of a YouTube Radical.” By radical, he and his paper mean those free-thinking Americans whose ideas lack the proper vetting from, well, them. Those that require censorship.

A black transgender woman wanted to be heard, but the white men wanted to celebrate. The scene at New York City's Stonewall Inn on Saturday, as reported by multiple witnesses on social media, showed how long-simmering tensions between transgender women of color and white gay men have boiled over during the celebration of World Pride and the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising. The unidentified woman wanted to address the crowd inside the Greenwich Village gay bar where patrons fought back against police harassment 50 years ago, birthing the LGBTQ movement. She arrived unannounced and disrupted a drag show, drawing an unfriendly response at first.

Of course, it’s a summer holiday week. So, this good news somehow slipped by most media critics of this president. But the latest government figures just showed that in April the United States produced a new record amount of oil per day — a stunning 12.16 million barrels of oil every 24 hours. [Snip] Of more significance, the oil production jump makes the United States the world’s largest producer of oil, ahead of the usual slippery suspects like Saudi Arabia and Russia. How’s that for energy independence? And how can presidential debaters turn that into a negative?
