Even Democrats Aren’t Sure Whether

It was supposed to be a made-for-TV moment for House Democrats: former Richard Nixon counsel and Watergate icon John Dean testifying before lawmakers in the Judiciary Committee’s first hearing solely devoted to the substance of Robert Mueller’s findings on whether President Trump obstructed the Russia investigation. After the four-hour hearing wrapped on Monday, though, not all Democrats were reveling in the testimony of Watergate’s star witness. Some were even wondering if anyone had bothered to watch. “I don’t know if there were any blockbuster events today,” conceded Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA), a Judiciary member. “It was kind of like a plotting exercise.”

Everything wrong with this exercise is expressed in the headline. Democrats worry that this didnt do THEM any good. For the record. Elected officials are supposed to do what's right for the country. NOT, what's good for the party. The statements by the democrats tell us exactly where their priorities lie, and it's not with "We the People".

When was the last time that the dems did ANYTHING that did them any good? Trump has them running in circles chasing their own tails. It sure can be entertaining but it doesn't accomplish anything. Each failure/embarrassment knocks them further behind. Then they get more strident with even less to back them up. In this instance they cast back 45 years to talk to one of the most corrupt participants of the Watergate fiasco who paid no price because he agreed to give them Nixon in exchange for his freedom. Dean never had anything on Nixon, just an opinion that Nixon MUST have known. Nixon resigned rather than drag the Country through a mess, otherwise Dean would have been exposed as a fraud. Since then Dean has made a career of Watergate, pretending he is one of the "good guys". He wasn't. He was more like Cohen to Trump. Guilty of his own crimes. But Cohen had nothing to trade on Trump and Trump is nothing like Nixon in temperment, instead willing to fight like a wolverine. Cohen is in jail like Dean should have been. Inviting Dean to appear was a farce. They would have done better with another box of chicken, or maybe roasted weasel.

During Dean's time in the witness chair in 1973-74, republicans spread a rumor that Dean's wife was a hooker. If that is true, he is a bigger prostitute than his wife.

He did them a lot of good. It is now obvious that the Dems can only repeat playbooks from the long-ago. Nothing new here. Besides the fact that Dean ordered the Watergate break in, being concerned that his wife Maureen was in the little book of hostesses of the Dems, and then arranged the bribery, is irrelevant. Remember: you cannot legislate against stupidity.

This came across like a childish political stunt and everyone saw it for what it was. Nadler is turning the House into a clown show and meanwhile the freshman know it all's are making the whole Party look like the loons they have always been. And now not just loons but extremely stupid and completely tone deaf to what the country is really thinking. It's kind of fascinating to watch.

Frustrated hate-filled Dems led by Nadler have neither the basis nor the guts to do real impeachment so they give us an imitation of impeachment, dragging in an irrelevant relic like John Dean to bolster their slander. So it's the umpteenth Dem smear job since that huge election night that shocked them all out of their sanity. The steady rise in Trump popularity numbers belies the folly of their attempt.

In terms of new ideas, the Dims have been out of gas a long time. They just can't come up with anything new anymore - they just run re-runs all the time. In history, ruling groups like the Dims sometimes just ossify. Then the opposition becomes too great, they snap, and are replaced by a more vigorous group, like us.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott on Monday signed the so-called “Save Chick-fil-A” bill into law, a new provision that supporters say defends the fast-food restaurant and protects religious freedoms. Opponents have argued it discriminates against the LGBT community. Abbott, a Republican, did not hold a public signing ceremony, but he had signaled his support through a tweet a few weeks ago, DallasNews.com reported. On May 20, Abbott tweeted a picture of a Chick-fil-A soft drink in front of a laptop showing a news article with the headline “'Save Chick-fil-A' bill heads to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s desk” and wrote, “So. What are the odds

Acosta cites instance after instance when this President and many of his staff show that they are bent on interfering with the ability of reporters to bring the public an accurate account of the administration's stewardship.

When the House Judiciary Committee meets today for the start of hearings that could lead to the impeachment of President Donald Trump, two of the 17 Republicans on the dais will find themselves in a familiar position, having been deeply involved in the last formal attempt to remove a president from office. Representative Steve Chabot of Ohio, along with Representative James Sensenbrenner of Wisconsin, voted to impeach President Bill Clinton for perjury and obstruction of justice. Both later played the role of prosecutors for Clinton’s trial in the Senate, where he was ultimately acquitted. “I do stand by it,” Chabot told me. “I think he did commit an impeachable offense—

The forthcoming report from the Office of Inspector General on potential Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act abuse will finally unleash Attorney General William Barr, and when it does, watch out. For the last month, conservative pundits have predicted the ever-imminent dropping of Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s report on his investigation into the circumstances surrounding FISA surveillance of former Trump campaign advisor Carter Page. Horowitz’s report will likely provide new and damaging details surrounding the FBI’s use of the FISA court to spy on Page. More importantly, the conclusion of Horowitz’s probe frees Barr to conduct a broader and more exacting investigation into all aspects of the Russia collusion hoax.

California wants to look after its people, so it keeps expanding its social safety net. It also wants to welcome all comers and so embraces illegal immigrants and protects them in sanctuary cities. To see how this is working out, visit Skid Row in L.A. or neighborhoods in San Francisco or elsewhere where homeless camps are spreading. Caring for all Californians is made harder by the state importing as many non-Americans as possible. It's almost incredible, but also entirely characteristic, that California lawmakers have now decided to give healthcare free to nearly 100,000 illegal immigrants aged 19 to 25.
