Something here for everyone to hate. If you’re on Jack Phillips’s side you’re outraged that the campaign of harassing him with lawsuits is now in its seventh year, undeterred by a Supreme Court decision that sided with him over Colorado’s antidiscrimination tribunal on grounds that the panel showed anti-religious bias in evaluating the claim against him. If you’re in the gay-rights camp, you should be pi**ed that SCOTUS may get a second crack at Phillips’s case with new facts that make him appear even more sympathetic than he did before. The Court’s conservatives will not only have to decide next time whether free speech and free exercise require

I pray the author doesn't place his hope in the Robert's Court. The POS, Roberts, has been on the side of Satan his entire adult life, I'm positive.

Seems to me, the Supreme Court is lacking the courage needed to resolve these lawsuits. Isn’t it their job to rule on issues that are involving policies that need to be addressed. This legal bullying must end. It is unfair and decidedly un-American. Plus, it is bankrupting small business owners.

The leftists' goal is to drive that poor man out of business or at least the state of Colorado. Every time I'm in the vicinity, I go to his shop, buy something, and make a contribution to his employees and family. He has three jars on the counter - tips for the employees, contributions to his family, and contributions to Alliance Defending Freedom.

Firearms dealers will not sell you a gun if you are a felon or mentally defective. Beverage dealers will not sell you beer if you are under 18. Businesses can refuse admission to people who carry legal concealed weapons. Why can't bakeries refuse to sell you a cake if you are using it to celebrate a perversion of humanity? Ditto, #1, I would not want to place my trust in a decision by Roberts.

His shop's website is very tasteful. Unfortunately for some of us, however, he just does cakes and has no mail order component. His website includes a statement that he makes cakes for everyone except for cakes that have a message or generate an event that is against his religious beliefs.

The 1st Amendment guarantees free exercise of religion. Phillips is being denied his Constitutional right. Why is that not the end of this saga?

Watching parts of the Watergate hearings again recently, I was struck by just how dry they are as a spectacle. This momentous national occasion, with all its historic consequences, appeared to be conducted with all the torpor of a group of chameleons sunbathing on a tree branch. If you were to compare Alexander P. Butterfield’s restrained, emotionally strangled testimony with Jon Stewart’s showboating appearance before a House Judiciary Committee yesterday, you would think an enormous change in human nature had occurred in the decades between then and now.

John Diepersloot squinted under a bright Central Valley sun, pointing to the damage to his fruit orchard that came with the California bullet train. He lost 70 acres of prime land. Rail contractors left mounds of rubble along his neat rows. Irrigation hoses are askew. A sophisticated canopy system for a kiwi field, supported by massive steel cables, was torn down. But what really irritates Diepersloot is the $250,000 that he paid out of his own pocket for relocating wells, removing trees, building a road and other expenses. “I am out a quarter-million bucks on infrastructure, and they haven’t paid

With the standard caveat "It's waaaay early" (is that enough a's?) here's my analysis of the Democrat horse race so far. Who am I to do this? Well, I was among the first to publicly predict a Trump victory, but so what? I was taking a flyer then and am now. But so is everybody else. So here goes. But before I start, you will note I channeled Tom Wolfe by calling this the "Bonfire of the Mediocrities" because I don't think you could possibly find twenty-four duller individuals in a phone book (to channel William F. Buckley) than those running for the Democratic nomination. It's stunning, actually, and a sad commentary

Officials have ordered a privately funded section of wall on the U.S.-Mexico border to keep its gate open indefinitely, saying organizers failed to obtain required permits, according to BuzzFeed News. The International Boundary and Water Commission (IBWC), which oversees waterway issues between the U.S. and Mexico, said the organizers of We Build the Wall, which raised more than $23 million, had not obtained permission to build on federal land. The half-mile barrier, on the border near Sunland Park, N.M., restricts access to a public monument and waterways, according to the IBWC.

Joe Biden told an audience in Ottumwa, Iowa Tuesday that his White House would "cure" cancer should he beat President Trump in 2020. "I've worked so hard in my career, that I promise you, if I'm elected president you're gonna see single most important thing that changes America, we're gonna cure cancer," Biden said to applause. During his stint as vice president, Biden oversaw the "Cancer Moonshot" initiative of the Obama administration. Wednesday in Congress, the Democrat Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee is holding a hearing titled “Pathways to Universal Healthcare Coverage.” Democrats on the Committee will no doubt fill the committee room with lofty promises but don’t be deceived: in reality, Democrat slogans like "Medicare-for-all" come with a bitter pill to swallow: socialized medicine in America. Enacting punitive patient access restrictions, economy-crushing taxes, and massive deficit spending has never improved patients ability to get a timely diagnosis and effective treatments in moments of need.

Venezuela is the latest chapter in the long story of socialist crimes against humanity. Venezuela reminds us how long a country can circle the drain, destroyed by socialism but still hanging on by its fingernails. Reuters, a liberal news source, has the latest on Venezuela’s long goodbye, but never mentions the fact that it is socialism that destroyed what once was one of the world’s richest countries: These days, its Caribbean shoreline flanked by forested hills receives a different type of visitor: people who walk 10 minutes from a nearby town carrying rice, plantains or bananas in hopes of exchanging them for the fishermen’s latest catch. Former British spy Christopher Steele, author of the infamous anti-Trump dossier bearing his name, was introduced by a key State Department aide to top executives of a firm founded by President Bill Clinton’s former White House Chief of Staff Mack McLarty, according to documents made public on June 10 by Judicial Watch. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) for cutting to the heart of John Dean’s testimony Monday before the House Judiciary Committee. Chairman Jerry Nadler has to put on a show of pursuing President Trump because the party’s left wing demands it. But Speaker Nancy Pelosi won’t let Nadler go to impeachment hearings because she knows the broader public will see it as a partisan outrage. Pelosi’s bid to appease the extremists runs to quotes about how she wants to see Trump “in prison.” Nadler, meanwhile, must resort to, yes, props.

Joe Biden, the Democratic front-runner, has had a peculiar couple of weeks: The points on which he’s been historically weak—women’s rights, mass incarceration, and plagiarism—have surfaced again, as weak points are bound to do, but if his responses on all three fronts have muddied his record, they haven’t done much damage to his vaunted “electability.” He’s reiterated his support (before retracting it) of the Hyde Amendment, which prevents federal funds like Medicaid from paying for abortions. He’s defended his 1994 crime bill, which contributed (many believe) to America’s mass incarceration problem. Asked at a recent event whether he’d “commit to reducing the prison population by half,” Biden claimed

Chalk this one up to “everything is relative.” Someone who admires Nancy Pelosi and talks to her regularly assures me that, “She’s not one of the crazies.” The praise, such as it was, aimed to persuade me that the Speaker is not off the rails like the Democratic lynch mob forming in the House. That’s good to hear, but then why does Pelosi keep talking as if she’s in a banana republic? Doesn’t she realize she’s playing a dangerous game guaranteed to tear America further apart and spark a tit-for-tat escalation? Twice in recent weeks she jacked up the temperature on the crazies’ obsession with impeaching President Trump.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg knows firsthand the burden of six-figure student loan debt. He and his husband, Chasten, are far from alone, though, and their personal college indebtedness is helping to keep the issue on the national stage. With loans totaling more than $130,000, they are among the 43 million people in the United States who owe federal student loan debt. The debtors are so numerous and the total debt so high — more than $1.447 trillion, according to federal statistics — that several of the Democratic candidates have made major policy proposals to address the crisis. Freshmen Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wants Congress to give itself a $4,500 pay raise next year. That would boost her salary to $178,500. And that’s not counting the many perks members of Congress get, all courtesy of taxpayers. But even that isn’t enough for the self-described socialist. AOC scoffed that a 2.5% bump in pay was “not even like a raise.” Before that, she grumbled that her income was merely a “living wage.” She also complained in a tweet that if lawmakers don’t get a raise, it “makes campaign finance reform *harder.* ” And it “increases pressure on them to keep dark money loopholes open.” It makes one wonder if AOC understands

California wants to look after its people, so it keeps expanding its social safety net. It also wants to welcome all comers and so embraces illegal immigrants and protects them in sanctuary cities. To see how this is working out, visit Skid Row in L.A. or neighborhoods in San Francisco or elsewhere where homeless camps are spreading. Caring for all Californians is made harder by the state importing as many non-Americans as possible. It's almost incredible, but also entirely characteristic, that California lawmakers have now decided to give healthcare free to nearly 100,000 illegal immigrants aged 19 to 25.
